wheels Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I was listening to the radio the other day when the played Kayleigh by Marillion which features the classic line "do you remember dancing in stilettoes in the snow". I recalled that there are a number of songs that refer to shoes and heels. These are the ones I could remember; "Hey pretty lady with the high heels on " - Jacko - The way you make me feel. "Put on your high heeled sneakers" - Song of same name - artist unknown. "Your mommas waiting for you, in her high heeled shoes" - Beatles - Get Back. The Eagles did a track called "Those shoes" on The Long Run album. this features a great line "got those pretty little straps around you ankles, got those chains around my heart." Can anyone think of any more? Heel thyself Over 50 pairs of heels now on my website at www.geocities.com/wayneheels/
Epi Cene Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys-by Traffic (1971) --- If you see something that looks like a star And it's shooting up out of the ground And your head is spinning from a loud guitar And you just can't escape from the sound Don't worry too much it'll happen to you We were children once playing with toys And the thing that you're hearing is only the sound Of the low spark of high-heeled boys, high-heeled boys If you had just a minute to breathe And they granted you one final wish Would you ask for something like another chance Or something similar as this Don't worry too much it'll happen to you As sure as your sorrows are joys And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound Of the low spark of high-heeled boys The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all you're means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams But today you just read that the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest Was the low spark of high-heeled boys, high-heeled boys If I gave you everything that I owned And asked for nothing in return Would you do the same for me as I would for you Or take me for a ride And strip me of everything including my pride But spirit is something that no one destroys And the sound that disturbs you is only the sound Of the low spark of high-heeled boys The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all you're means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams But today you just read that the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest Was the low spark of high-heeled boys, high-heeled boys ---
Epi Cene Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The Shoes You're Wearing-by Clint Black (1997) --- The Shoes You're Wearing (Clint Black/Hayden Nicholas) We've all seen enough wrong and right To know everything's not black and white There's always something in between No matter how long or well you live You don't get anything you don't give Still no slate is clean For better or worse, anybody can Take a look around and find a better man Upright no matter how he's faring No matter what kind of shoes he's wearing The shoes he's wearing They don't make the man So many people out running around Handicapped before they hit the ground Thinking there's nowhere to go Shouldn't we all be looking for ways To keep on seeing our better days We're not chained to what we know But if your eyes are open and your mind is free There's no tellin' what a man can be Upright no matter how you're faring No matter what kind of shoes you're wearing The shoes you're wearing They don't make the man But if you can't walk through the best of times and the worst of times Find your feet still walking the line You'll never carry the load worth bearing No matter what kind of shoes you're wearing The shoes you're wearing They won't make the man The shoes you're wearing They won't make the man

Stormie Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 'Substitute' by The Who has a couple of lines: "You think we look pretty good together You think my shoes are made of leather But I'm a substitute for another guy I look pretty tall but my heels are high The simple things you see are all complicated I look pretty young but I'm just backdated, yeah..." If you are too open-minded your brains will fall out.

mk4625 Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Brenton Wood's The Oogum Boogum Song from 1967: It's clear that he likes to see women wearing boots. When you wear your high-heel boots With your hip-huggin' suit Huh, it's alright You're outta sight But it takes quite something else to really get him excited. When you wear your bell-bottom pants I just stand there in a trance Huh, I can't move, you're in the groove At the end he repeats some nonsense syllables that sound like "check out the boots now". WickedHeelz Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Credence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' Out My Back Door Statue wearin' high heels Rolling Stones - Down Home Girl you're wearin' them citified high heels... And one that I've always found to be a bit of an anthem to heels (though it's not specifically speaking about high heels) is Head over Heels by the Go Gos. Head over heels Where should I go? Can't stop myself Out of control Sounds like me on one of my heel shopping excursions.

Bubba136 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 How about the 70's song: "I left my heels in San Francisco" by that famous Russian rockband Balenko and the Foxbats? Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
highheellover Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 heels are mentioned in loads of songs. Girls and heels rock.

Calv Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 I've found the lyrics to Weird Al Jankovic's Truck Drivin' song with several references to high heels. It always brings a smile when it gets played on the radio. Truck Drivin' Song ------------------ by Al Yankovic I'm drivin' a truck Drivin' a big ol' truck Pedal to the metal, hope I don't run out of luck Rollin' down the highway until the break of dawn Drivin' a truck with my high heels on My diesel rig is northward bound It's time to put that hammer down Just watchin' as the miles go flyin' by I'm ridin' twenty tons of steel But it's sure hard to hold the wheel While I'm still waiting for my nails to dry Oh, I always gotta check my lipstick in that rear view mirror And my pink angora sweater fits so tight I'm jammin' gears and haulin' freight Well, I sure hope my seams are straight Lord, don't let my mascara run tonight Because I'm drivin' a truck Drivin' a big ol' truck Smokey's on my tail and my accelerator's stuck Got these eighteen wheels a-rollin until the break of dawn Drivin' a truck with my high heels on Oh, I don't mind when my crotchless panties creep right up on me And my nipple rings don't bother me too much But when I hit those big speed bumps My darling little rhinestone pumps Keep slippin' off the mother-lovin' clutch But still I'm drivin' a truck Drivin' a big ol' truck Headin' down the interstate, just tryin' to make buck Wearin' feather boas with sequins and chiffon While I'm drivin' a truck with my high heels on I'm drivin' a truck Drivin' a truck Got a load to carry and some eyebrows left to pluck And I'm late for my appointment down at the hair salon So I'll be drivin' a truck with my high heels on lyrics borrowed from www.yankovic.org Do your own thing. Don't be a victim of conformity. Calv
azraelle Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 From the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, Overload: This overload I can hear your heels clicking on the sidewalk Beating to the rhythm of my heart Caught up to you You're the only one I want I follow you home every night Just to make sure that you get there alright Baby it's true Can't think of anything but you And what I need baby Is a little bit of sympathy CHORUS: You got me on my knees I burn throughout the night And I can't live without your love Won't you help me cure this overload Won't you help me cure this overload Won't yeh.......... Steve B Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 They don't even finish the song on the original TV show. The singers walk off the set when they get to, "and a bra". Interestingly, Michael Palin sings it on the TV version while Eric Idle does the honors during live performances. Black 5-inch stilettos - the only way to go!
sendra45 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I am sure Debbie harry wanted a pair of pink high heels in 'I want that Man' and Prince wanted a GF to wear a pair of shoes that were so high she was scared. The angels have the phonebox.
