meganiwish Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I've got a song stuck in my head that won't go away. I believe the young folk these days call it a headworm. I don't know how it got there. It's from my childhood and I probably haven't heard it in 45 years. I didn't especially like it then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lESj6-IqyKw So I'll try to leave it here. This is a free service for all those who want to dump a headworm.
nyenor Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I have one at present as well. One of the fast food outlets is using the old Edith Piaf song that I think the title translates into 'No Regrets'. Although not having heard the song for years it now vibrates through my head all day. By the way, I have always liked the song although I have no idea of what it means in French.
Shyheels Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Years ago I worked at a newspaper and bane of my fellow feature writers was a woman with a couple of toddlers. She used to get the theme song from Bananas in Pyjamas stuck in her head. I remember her telling me that the only antidote was to hum Yankee Doodle. How she discovered this antidote, I can't imagine. But that's my piece of knowledge to add to this thread!

I suspect it means the same in French as it would in English, just that it's sung in French! :-)
nyenor Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 What I was trying to say is that apart from knowing the title in English is 'No Regrets' I have absolutely no idea of what the words are or what they might mean as I cannot recall ever hearing an English version of the song. And bugger. Now the song is in my head again.
meganiwish Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 http://www.bing.com/search?FORM=INCOH2&PC=IC04&PTAG=ICO-af4fe336&q=edith+piaf+je+ne+regrette+rien I'll translate it for you if you like. PM me. But you make a good point about the headworm. It wouldn't be so bad if you knew all the words. 5 hours ago, Shyheels said: Years ago I worked at a newspaper and bane of my fellow feature writers was a woman with a couple of toddlers. But that's my piece of knowledge to add to this thread! A stronger song works. I can often kill a headworm with this Pretenders song http://www.bing.com/search?q=talk+of+the+town+pretenders&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=talk+of+the+town+pretenders&sc=4-27&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=3C55E386760149E0982E80D5C5F51F0E but then the chap who didn't care about the rules is in my head. Do you chaps carry songs in your head, or do you have them on a device and need things plugged into your ears?
Shyheels Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I carry songs in my head I don't like things plugged in my ears. When I am out and about, especially on my bicycle, I like to see and head everything around me
Amanda Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 This was my headworm yesterday. usually it tends to be something annoying.
swedeheeler Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) When I work with electric equipment (connecting and fault diagnosis) My mouth starts to sing High voltage by AC/DCand thats pretty often. Sometimes I have caught myself singing the Manamana tune by the muppets. Edited December 1, 2016 by swedeheeler

How on earth did that get into your head? Don't tell me. I got this one today https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=long+haired+lover+&view=detail&mid=D3562C487BCC6202CFA3D3562C487BCC6202CFA3&FORM=VIRE while Mum was watching Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip. Guess who one of the celebrities was. The other was Tony Christie, so lots of 'people singing the hits badly'. I couldn't decide if I'd have been luckier to get http://www.bing.com/search?FORM=INCOH2&PC=IC04&PTAG=ICO-af4fe336&q=is+this+the+way+to+amarillo Comic Relief does sterling work turning songs you don't really like into songs that make you want to gouge someone's eyes out.
meganiwish Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 I had one all day that was a classic headworm. You know, you don't really know the words, so a little bit of it repeats like the record's stuck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Xgd2ENLa3c As ever, I don't really know how it got there, but I think something reminded me of the instrumental that preceded it on an album. Anyway, Shyheels kindly replaced it for me by mentioning in a message a night porter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5F2hTyxs3s I find the song maddening, because I can't be bothered to learn the words. This isn't the first time he's done it. Should I report it to Tech? I should say that my distress is increased by 'pity' being spelt 'pitty', but I can't really blame Shyheels for that, unless...
wood&metal Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin, BUT it's the live version because it's in a different key than the studio version!..lol Never frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
