MackyHeels Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Having trouble buying a belt. Trying to purchase a leather casual belt feels soft not stiff is difficult to find. Many stores start with sizes at 32" waist. With that i find all the holes to tighten would not fit snug enough. Had to poke another hole in a gucci leather belt i owned bad mistake rather taking it to a professional to punch a hole. Looking maybe a woman's belt maybe the answer. Only problem i find the woman belts i encountered in stores are very thin almost decorative then basic 1.5" wide belt i'm looking for. Any suggestions finding a quality belt? Thanks.
Heelster Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Always a tough time finding good leather belts regardless of which side of the aisle you shop. If it's something I'm gonna wear for work, I've found that men's stores catering to construction, iron, and steel workers have the best leather belts although initially, they are very stiff. Regarding punching holes in belts - - Get one of these. http://www.walmart.com/ip/14299488?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227017083231&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40872011912&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78764498192&veh=sem Even the cheap models such as this one will get the job done.
6inch-heaven Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I agree with heelster, if you want a nice leather belt, get 1 aimed at a 'worker' you have to put up with it being hard for a while, just keep wearing it and it'll soften up!
robbiehhw Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I have purchased some pretty nice women's belts over the last few years. Braided leather is one of my favorite types. Braids are strong too. If you want a bit less decorative ones look at something like these: http://www.buckle.com/bke-twisted-belt/prd-84490FYB100106/sku-9309400200 I'm a fan of buckle- the stores are also CD/TG friendly
HappyinHeels Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 MackyHeels, The advice on a durable belt for your job or other "male" type of hard outdoor jobs is good. Go to a store that caters to the trades. Regarding belts for times I'd simply look at the selections in some of the same places you'd buy your heels and other accessories. I have two wide belts for dresses and two skinny belts for jeans and linen-type pants. I always pay attention to the sizing to avoid having to add holes. HappyinHeels
MackyHeels Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Thanks but find any male belts in a small size sell out or not available. Thought woman's belt their would be more availability to wear with my skinny jeans. Found good quality belt but not the color i wanted or the price tag that comes with. http://www.agjeans.com/the-barrel-belt-saddle/d/8577_c_976 Only mistake i regret was leaving behind a soft quality leather belt from india in a restroom stall, because i was changing into some painted on ONyX legging jeans leaving work.
mtnsofheels Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I know what you're saying MackyHeels, its hard to find a good belt. I have recently been toying with the idea of making my own, in my size and colour. i remember a belt store that had 2 locations in Europe, 1 in Zermatt and 1 in Amsterdam, they had really nice belts and buckles in 3 different widths. Here is the link below. Good collection leathers and buckles, if I get back to either of those stores I am getting a couple for sure. Maybe you sniff one out here. I have done a bunch of of overseas shipping no problems to us here in Canada. Check it out! http://www.bucklesbelts.com/guertel-designer-40mm.html
