after months of search I finally found the extreme heels I really like - in the vintage forum :lmao: For sure there's no way for me to get some 40yr old heels in size 14... well and however I would like to buy new ones :)

So does anyone know where I could find pumps/oxfords/boots in this style?

they have a very small and rounded instead of pointed toebox...

And secondly - they are awesome arent they??

I know exactly what you mean; have posted similar my self a number of years ago when I was first a member.

Did speak to someone who themselves had found a cordwainer (yes I only just found out that is the correct term for a maker of shoes) that would make similar but didn't get very far in the process.

I would have though Natacha Marro http://www.natachamarro.com/ would understand the differences between contemporary design and those demonstrated to be able to make such a pair.

I think this page has some fascinating styles http://www.retroxotique.com/photos/Fashion/RetroShoes/sp2.html I still cannot quite workout how these are constructed such that the toe boxes can appear so short - I can only imagine one walks as if walking bare foot on tip toes - a shoe I would love to try.

Maybe one day when I can justify the expense, I will endeavour to get some made up.

Well first the toe box of the vintage heels is smaller as it is rounded and not as pointed as about every toe box of today's heels.

And secondly while today's toe boxes are sometimes even going upwards a bit to the tip, the box of the vintage heels is flat. If you take a look at e.g. this image http://www.retroxotique.com/photos/Fashion/RetroShoes/S2/bizarr025.jpg there might even be a slightly slanted sole in there so that the toes are placed 'diagonal' a bit. That's what I did with the heels in my avatar too. They were about 2 sizes too large but I didn't want to change them. So I built a slanted ~1cm foam plateau into the toe box. the result: they are fitting, good to walk in, and the toe box could be even smaller than now.

If you have deep pockets then try...

http://www.estresmodes.com/

I think they can/will make anything you want. See the attached red heels as a starting point.

I think that old school style of shoe has an almost ballet heel style hidden construction. A little like the foot shape in the attached photo of the black patent pony shoes.

I too love the style of the old Bizarre John Willie/Eric Stanton shoes. A brave and inspired manufacturer could make a killing if they made some exact replicas.

Dr. Shoe and Gina are you listening???!!! You make the shoes and I will style the hell out of the company. Pata and Gina can teach the world how to walk gracefully in them. I have fashion and styling contacts galore.

Thanks,

Ben

what about the vintage style high heel creations by elite-heels.com (the chunky heel) or fuss-schuhe.de (those 6 inch heels) ? about the style of those vintage heels: I think they are similar of what the highest heel did- the last attached picture, red shoes. cannot show where the shoes are better visible resp. directly what I mean but it is also about the way beeing photographed. as soon as one stands in those shoes, the feet would slip in and shoes look larger and the *tiptoe- look dissappears - but when sitting they are well looking and quite similar to those retro photos.

Pata

Indeed; quite agree with your assertion that sitting with a careful bit of staging could create a more dramatic effect, and that is what we are seeing in many of the pictures.

However there are still a number of photos with women standing / walking not leaning or propping themselves, such as this one; http://www.retroxotique.com/photos/Fashion/RetroShoes/S2/My_old_pic_3.jpg I am quite simply in awe of the extreme arch in the womans foot and the practically vertical mid section to the sole.

@Pata: first some thanks for your ideas! I would have already tested the one from fuss-schuhe but they never had it in my size (or only a short time until it was sold out again).

About half a year ago I have ordered the only pair of pumps that really can create that look - http://www.la-piazza-highheels.com/k5017d.jpg Unfortunally the first order didn't fit and I'm waiting about 5 months now to get one size larger. :/

But thats the only new pump I've ever seen with such a short toebox.

About ten years ago I wandered into one of the major bookstores and came across the 3 volume set Complete Reprint of Exotique. This is a must have research item as it has hundreds of photos of shoes from the 50's. Even more interesting is many of the features dealt with men wearing heels and corsets-quite a leap for the time. The shoes featured have a 'look'that you certainly do not see today. What mystifies me is no one can provide any information as to the manufacturer, country of origin or where they were available for purchase. Exotique even had a catalog available, but none of those have ever surfaced. Multiple searches on Ebay over the years have yet to turn up any surviving shoes of this era. In today's electronic world I am baffled how a unique period in shoe history has just disappeared.

once again - I do not know. I would be sure somebody really can walk a shoe (and not speaking about elegance) if I see it real or at a video, to make it look like this for a photo is really not difficult even if somebody cannot.

also one cannot estimate such photos as long as you do not have any data. People were smaller then, and at a full-figure photo of a girl of 1,50 cm height a 5 inch heel looks awfully high even if she has the same shoesize of eu 39 than somebody at 170 cm.

the same about the extreme looking arch- some just have this *extremely arched looking* type of feet but per se it does not mean the shoe is really arched nor that the persons really can walk extreme high heels.

nevertheless, I do love that look of the shoes :silly:.

I still think, if somebody will make something nice like that, it would be elite heels ... Loved these attached (hidden platform) heels... look how different it looks depending of the angle, all three are the same type shoe! ... and if would be a 7 inch heel, eventually a chunkier heel, it might be a dream of a vintage-look shoe, what do u think?

About ten years ago I ,,,,.

did you purchase them? would you like to show us some scans of them then?- I am sure alot of us would appreciate!

well many ppl may love the mary jane style but personally I don't like it. I think I will give Elite Heels a try, they might be able to find someone who can build them. At the moment I will not buy any new ones; currently I'm just very angry. After half a year of waiting, a manufacturer became insolvent and so became the old La Piazza HH team. And thanks to that I also have lost almost 200€ :silly: And it's even worse as these heels where the last normal available heels (at least in my size) that fit into my idea of a super high heel  Bad times.

If I may ask, which manufacturer became insolvent?

If I may ask, which manufacturer became insolvent?

dunno. I was just told by the new La Piazza Team that one manufacturer became insolvent - that manufacturer put every retailer off since October 2010 - and due to that they told me that after all also three retailer became insolvent. Terrible.
