Stilletto Jeans

Noted in the papers this week was a report on the Paris couture show by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel which featured white leather stilletto jeans  . According to the article the jeans had 6" stilletto heels built in.

I found this photo on the vogue site

Wonder how much they cost - Though as Chanel can charge £100 + for a pair of tights then probably £2000 or so!!

It's interesting, but not something that would take off as a fashion idea for the masses. What do you when you wear them, stop by a friend's place, and not wish to soil up the rugs with the street dust and grime? O)ne must remove the pants, not just the stilettos. Personally, that is not something I would do when not at home... especially on certain summer days...

Ah, but catwalk fashion isn't supposed to be practical. I quite like the look, and I like the idea. I doubt it'll ever hit the streets, tho', if only because of the problem of trying to make one garment fit from waist to toes. The sheer number of sizes you'd need would be impossible.

I like them. I think to the fact that they are a 6" heel has already killed the concept for regular wear, they are more for fetish wear. Make it a 4" or 5" heel then we actually might see them on the streets.

They are ok but I'd prefer to be able to change my footwear with the jeans or visa versa if I had the boots I'd like to change what I wear with them. They aren't versatile enough for me

A LOVELY photo, but pity the photographer didn't stand a bit so one side so we'd all enjoy seeing the 6" heels and their effect on the costume (and on the model!). Great effect, but as already commented upon, pretty impossibly to market because ther shop would be struggling not only to fit the shoe to the buyer, but the whole combination of waist-size, leg-length etc. Cheerfully yours, Heelsfan.

Onwards and upwards!

Indeed fashion is a good potential source for HH sightings, but unfortunately the photographers (or producers) usually are't into heels so they focus on the outfits

Well, I wouldn't recommend wearing something like that in Japan where you're required to take off your shoes before entering a person's house! Imagine that particularly embarrassing scenario!

There is a time and place for just about everything. I would consider stiletto jeans more as fetish party wear rather than street-wear.

I used to modify my jeans in a similar fashion. I would sew elastic straps joining the bottom sides of each leg hem. This way, I had to put on my heels first before sliding into my jeans. The elastic strap would position itself under the shoe at the top of the arch. The elastic strap would stretch as I bent my legs. The snug feeling was quite sensual for me.

Many years ago there was a fashion here for what we called 'ski pants', which were just like leggings but with a similar elastic loop under the foot. I seem to remember some people wearing them with heels, and with the elastic loop tucked into the arch of the shoe, just in front of the heel. It's a similar thing.

How jealous was *I*?

Stirrup pants. I still had a pair until about four weeks ago when out they went. I did that very thing when I was a bit younger. Not often, thankfully. It's a fashion trend not for everyone, and maybe best left to vanish into a world of athletics...

They'll be back, just like bell-bottoms--fashion designers can't resist resurrecting fashions dead and buried (or perhaps the only way to make a living is to make every woman change her wardrobe every few months?).

Azraelle, you just let out the secret of the fashion industry! shhhhhhhhhhhhh! That is the truth, you know. Designers do what they do, hoping to make women spend more money on clothes. New trend, make everyone have to have it, then wait for it to die and bring out something very different, in the name of creativity and fashion progress. It always starts with the idealistic fashion student looking to be creative and design wonderful things. It then turns into money, money, money.

I'd love to try the stilleto pants, of course I wouldnt mind trying out a full 'boot suit'.. the closest I can afford to do is hook the sturups of a catsuit between the heel and arch. Oh well.

  • 5 months later...

I love the idea of those boot jeans. The fact that you can't take off the boots in public without embarradding yourself is exactly what makes them so sexy!

JimC, It would be very easy to get a boot suit or just a boot-jean design made up for much less than you might expect. I have no idea about the rest of the world, but I know for sure that here in the UK there are plenty of companies that specialise in creating made-to-measure leathers for motorcyclists. These typically take the form of either separate lower and jacket halves that zip together at the waist, or what are known as "one piece leathers that go from neck to ankle. I also know that they are usually happy to take on special projects (such as permanently attached boots). You would supply your own leather boots and they would marry it up to the trouser/suit. Since they usually work with quite thick pieces of leather, they would have no trouble with the much thinner leather required to make very supple fashion items.

If anyone is interested I'd be happy to dig out some links or contact details.

I made a quick search, I found this lot of links here:

One of the links is to the BBC's "Womans Hour" radio programme. You can listen to the programme. Substitute leather trousers with high heels and the programme is still relevant. They talk about the difference between what men and women can get away with to express their sexuality - worth a listen at any rate.
