JH
Does anyone have any idea how to hide heels in your own house, because I still live with my parents. Greetz!!!
sohoboot
I used to leave mine in my dresser with a layer of clothes over the top. Nobody ever really came into my room, much less looked in the dresser for anything. Sure, there's a risk they'll be discovered but any time you bring something into the house, you face that risk. azraelle
My mother was not especially into heels--she taught school and was expected to wear "ladylike" shoes--but mostly she wore ~2" pumps because she had to be on her feet 8-9 hrs per day. Judging from her behavior later inn life, she would apparently get a new pair of ~3+" heels at least once per year, quite often in bright colors, just for the sake of assuaging my dad's occasional need to believe himself to be a generous man by having bought his wife something nice (a new dress, heels, etc, and usually what HE picked out). She would dutifully bring them home, wear them once (for HIM) and stuff them in the closet, never to see the light of day again. She must have had at least 20 pairs mouldering away in the back reaches of her closet, untouched and mostly out of sight by the time I got old enough to start noticing things like that. If I had had enough courage to have actually bought myself a pair of heels, probably even boots, when I was a teenager, I have no doubt that I could have stored them among my mother's discarded shoes, and they would never have been discovered, not even by her! Quite often you will find that, humans being the obtuse creatures that most of them are, the best place to hide most anything is in Plain Sight! mk4625
Here are some of my hiding places: Empty space under the bottom dresser drawer (WORST! I think mom found my first pair of women's dress boots here along with my scrapbook of cuttings showing women in boots and high heels). Locked musical instrument case. Locked telescope case. In my car, once I was allowed to have one. On a bookshelf, hidden behind several dreary texts on signal processing and information theory (ONE OF THE BEST!). AndyB
Plain Sight works for me!; I've got a blue holdall under the desk, but that's now full of shoes & clothes, so the box from some trainers has a nice pair of 3" heels in it! I'd agree with Dr S. tho, it's a hell of a lot easier when you move out. but be careful when you move back in again... the collection's a lot bigger AndyB (who probably got busted this morning when a pair of boots arrived in a (opaque, plain) plastic bag... mum answered the door, and in taking them off the postie, grabbed one by the heel. bugger. )
Firefox
I had the odd pair hidden in my early teens. My fave hiding place was undo the metal ventilation grill on the wall by taking off 4 screws. Then reach down inside the cavtity wall behind and retrieve shoes. A completely foolproof place as both my Dad and Mum, unlike me, have two left hands when it came to using tools like a screwdriver. loveheel
Let's see. Where did I hide shoes before I told my wife ? Attick (particularly good when it is a difficult to access attic), behind access panels for utilities, in hollow basement ceiling and walls. The latter is much easier in American houses since they are usually a frame construction with hollow walls and floors. Gives for a lot of hidden places. With most houses made of brick and concrete in Europe, it is probably harder to find such nooks.
badger
I've used the rafters in the garage and a plain brown cardboard box in the back of my closet. I put the shoes and boots in their original boxes at the bottom and then cover them with "normal" porn magazines. Nobody has every confessed to finding them. Everyone should wear boots! Francis
hiding places were few in my places, since my mother cleaned nearly everywhere, so the last place available was under floorboards. Eventually, I got a little space of my own that my parents didn't invade, so all my bits and pieces went in there.
Yamyam
I hid stuff in the attic when I lived at home, or behind the drawer under my bed. Thankfully I left home at 18, and had a car then, too. These days, I have a 'shoe room' opposite my office on the top floor of my house. Who needs to hide? (The only problem is putting everything away before the cleaner or my little one arrive ) Obsessed is such a strong word. xaphod
When I was at home, I did some unofficial DIY while my parents were out and made a floorboard to be easily liftable. Otherwise it is easy to find plenty of space behind the panels around the sides of the bath. The screws have domed covers which unscrew to reveal a conventional woodscrew. The best hidey-hole I have heard of is inside a juke-box. A guy I emailed with bought a big juke-box which he kept in his study (den). The lower half is normally quite empty ..... maybe an amplifier and a speaker there but still plenty of fresh air which can be better used as shoe space. Thinking about it, if you are prepared to put up with lower-fi and you are like me, and believe that with loudspeakers there is no substitute for cubic feet (no pun intended ! ), then you should be able to get a few pairs inside your speaker cabs. jo
Make sure you don't magnetise the heels, otherwise any discarded tin cans in the street will follow you.
squirrelheels
I found the best place was in a shoe box under my bed... Of course, if you have nosy parents, the floorboards might be a better option, but my floor isn't that deep, since it's a ceiling too! I keep my 5in loafers in plain sight by my bed, and the rest under my bed, also in plain sight (if you bend down!), but then I'm not trying to hide them... How do you think your parents would react if you told them? Mine reacted a lot better than I thought, and it gave me so much more freedom. SH Hi! I'm a signature virus! Lee
Before my wife knew of my high heels likes... I used the attic and behind the head board of the bed. Headboard worked well, close at hand and she never cleaned there! Today, she knows and even helps with me with heels, so all my shoes are in a drawer. Jamie001
Why do you need to hide your heels? It is not like you are doing drugs or something illegal! Heels are not illegal and they are not harmful, they are just a fashion choice! I would suggest wearing your heels proudly and letting your parents see that you wear heels. There is no reason to hide your heels and feel like you are doing something wrong, when in reality it is your right to wear heels. Who knows, naybe you could even swap some heels with your mother or go shoe shopping with her. Jamie Fashion Freedom for Men!!
azraelle
Obviously your parents never laid a belt (or worse) to your bare butt for what they considered wrongful behavior. Or needled you with derogatory or humiliating remarks or treatment in order to exorcise from you your unmasculine behavior. If you had, you would go out of your way to avoid other such confrontations. If your rose-colored glasses tell you that such parental behavior is a thing of the past in our enlightened era, you have never met a redneck. Or a homophobe. To either of these types, and a host of other religious bigots, ANY kind of feminine behavior, thought, or desire in a son is a sure sign that they are "going gay", and they go out of their way to beat it out of them using any and all means available. I have often wondered why feminine behavior in a guy is equated to a preference for anal intercourse by most of society, when it is typically held in low esteem by the most feminine individuals in the world, e.g. women!? Firefox
Well men are seen to be strong, great and the people that make the world tick by society. It's an antiquated view but no that still holds sway. That is why it is OK for a girl to be a "tomboy" but a "cissy" is something to be deplored. My Mum holds these type of views. She is a VERY ignoarant person in that respect. Anyway, back on topic, under the floorboards would seem a good place, but Jamie has the right philosophy. Aspire to wearing them in public whereupon there is no need to hie them.
Sandalslover
My favorite hiding place is behind the books at my library...there are so many boods that it is almost impossible to find where my nice 5" heeled strappy sandals are...to be worn when my wife is out of home. Mickey S.
In the past I hid them by putting them amongst other electrical stuff in the shelf. Since my folks didn't know much about electricity and didn't want/dare/try to figure it, this method provided a rather safe place for the shoes. By now I'm at 190 pairs or so. This makes me to keep them in 'categorized' cardboxes otherwise they would take too much space when put in a drawer, a shelf or so. The cardboxes can easiliy be opened by everyone who stops by my room. Until now it just didn't happen that those boxes were ever examined... Skirted-UK
If you are hiding them from your wife a good place is the attic as most women don't like them especially if there is no floor up there. When I started wearing skirts and heels when I was 15 I found a good place to keep them was inside the speaker cabernet of my home made hi-fi unit, parents are not going to start disassembling your hi-fi unless they are electronic engineers :-) "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave ! sendra45
Hi, I am with xaphod, the speakers are a perfect place although you will have to get more and bigger ones as time goes on, it might be worth getting a second hand or new PA speakers with their own carry cases, you could fill them up too. whoops, I think my secret is out. dressboots
My parents always knew of my wish to wear women's boots so no need to hide them. I told my (future) wife about my taste in boots when we were dating so no need to hide them from her either. ward
When I started wearing heels, I hid them by putting them back in the box and putting the box back on the shelf in my clothes closet. As I grew older and bolder, I did not hide them anymore, as my mom and family had seen them by then, and I was out of the closet so to speak. My mom and family even encouraged me to wear them!!! I have not hidden my shoes and boots since the age of 14. Highheels forever, ward High heels forever, ward
