  1. One thing you might try is finding the local shops that the local dancers buy their shoes, especially first time dancers. There has got to be an adult boutique somewhere close buy with a decent stock. May also depend on what size you wear.

Pleaser has been shuffling out some styles on closeout here in the states. You may find some deals in the UK.

I've looked at one site recently not mentioned yet

    http://www.discountstripper.com/

They usually have some sales going on.

I'm looking at getting a pair of these real soon from my local supplier. kinda think they would work well in multiply situations and even jeans.

  2. Yeah your photo is the pair that I was talking about. I had a quick look at Norstrom's website and found the Higher more pointy Steve Madden pair I posted.

I'm not a big fan of either pair. They look too much like boring old lady heels given a shot in the arm (or heel).

    Cheers,

    Ben

May be true, but they are about perfect for the business/office.
  3. Hi there I bought a pair similar to those and what a pleasure to walk in them, at home though.

Oh I don't know about that at home heeling only. I might consider some street heeling in those. Those look great yet simple. I prefer a bit of a platform. Seems easier on the bottom of my feet.
  4. Camo mules are really cool shoes - they would go with almost anything - and they'd be far better for walking in the woods than those (admittedly lovely) 5" Honey mules..!

    Damned - - your good

I'm assuming your talking the Avatar - -

Probably one of the last pairs of "honey" heels from the Vivid collection. Supposed to be a 6" but they seem to measure higher. Doesn't matter, they are rather comfortable. I'm not going for the height statistics. Picked these up at a closeout inventory reduction sale for pennies on the dollar and had to have them after walking around the shop for about a half hour. Also picked up a pair of white pleaser 6" platforms from the 'adore' line I believe for something like $24.95 - - couldn't pass that up either.

As for the camo's. I should have said sandals and not mules. http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/601-Juliet-M-large.jpg

In all reality, there is no way I'm going out in my yard with anything like this beyond the patio and walkways. I'd get eaten alive, scrapped to hell, and stuck in the muck. If I had a mini or shorts on, I'd be a bloody mess - - in otherwords, not a good time at all.

  5. Greetings Heelster :-)

Just curious: May I ask you what made you start wearing heels ?

(If you already replied to this question in another thread please post a link to your post)

(I don't want to hijaak this thread...)

I have mentioned it elswhere, but hec if I can find it.

Over the years, I have purchased 'evening wear' for the little lady, but could rarely ever get her into it. She used to wear heels occasionally early on, but these days, forget it - ain't happening - kills her feet something fierce. She's also on the short side which means all those hot stockings really don't fit well.

    Last year about this time, I made some comment about all the kids gone, lets have some fun, spice things up - - Yada Yada yada - - and she replied something like;

" If you like that stuff so much, why don't you wear it "

Well that got my brain rolling, so over the next couple months I took inventory, and pulled the items that I know would fit me. The only pair of heels she still owns were a nice simple pump in Orange, virtually brand new, but a size 6 - - Not gonna work, so off to the thrift store. I had determined that I was supposed to be a womens shoe size 10 which shouldn't be that bad, and lucky for me I found a virtually new pair of Ellie M-Joliet sandals in black. http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/M-Juliet-large.jpg and they fit perfectly. I also picked up a pair of peep toe wedge pumps in black, of which I have no idea who makes them, but they are wonderful. Next I hit the skirt aisle and went hunting for a mini skirt. I hit the jackpot with a 11" LEI washed demin mini that fit perfectly.

Over the years, I had purchased some realy nice thigh hi's, but she never wore them. I confiscated them all along with all the skimpy string bikini's and thongs mostly from Victoria's Secret. Lucky for me they all fit (and boy are they more comfortable than jockey's and tiddy whitey's.)

I selected a pair of black sheer thigh hi's with some fuzzy pattern and rhinestones up the side out of the existing collection (can't find these anymore or I would buy a couple spare pairs) and a thong from the VS collection, and I was ready for my Valentines day surprise. Oh - - and a basic black bow tie.

Needless to say, she got the surprise of her life. Talk about me being nervous as hell, it was a sheer miracle I could stay on my feet (but I had plenty of practice before hand, so only the nerves were at issue) You have no idea what the response is gonna be, but lucky for me, it went far better than I ever imagined.

As a reference, I'm no stranger to the Lingerie departments. Over the years, all the nieces and sisters always expected me to buy their christmas presents. (don't recall how it all started, but I believe it had something to do with getting underwear for christmas, and I played a prank on the wife's sister) I knew what styles each one liked, so it was always panties for christmas from me. Always a hoot. Once they had boyfriends and husbands, it was their job - not mine. To this day, none of these guys will go near the lingerie departments unless I'm asked to drag their sorry asses in and help them make the selections.

Since Valentines day, my shoe selection has grown to 10 pairs of shoes and one pair of boots. My selections of stockings, mini skirts, and Victoria's Secret string bikini's and thongs has also grown too (Out with the old undies and in with the new, but I still wear mens string bikini's to work - - just in case.) I still throw the little lady a curve every once in a while, and am planning one for our anniversery later this month (hmmmmmm - - what to wear)

As for public heeling, I have worn the boots under my pants, and have recently picked up a pair of high heel clogs I might attempt sometime. I did do the 'Walk a mile event in some sky high mirrored fucia stripper heels, fishnets and wrap around mini - that was a trip. Otherwise, I'm not likely to venture out in skirts and stocking in the near future. Don't think I've got the whole figure to pull it off cleanly, but I do see heels and jeans as being a realistic possibility out in public. scares the hell out of the little lady of the house, and the girls don't know (I'd lose a few pairs I'm sure) so I limit my venturing to out of town, and by myself away from the local territory.

Here is one of my other surprises - http://www.hhplace.org/guys/1280-partners_thoughts_you_wearing_womens_footwear.html#post258764

  6. Simple, Classic, Clean - - Don't see why not. Pair with a business straight/pencil solid color (or minimal print detail) skirt in a wool blend should be good. If your somewhat concerned, I'd wait until it's somewhat chilly out. If there is an issue, you could blame it on the weather, and you would know the opinion of the office for later reference.

  7. Name:Heelster for now - If we meet, that's different. Age: close to 50, but not there yet. Gender: Male Location: US Midwest close to Lake Erie - Rural Occupation: To many possibilites. CNC Machinist today. Height: About 5'10" Weight: Too much Shoe size: Womens 10 What's your favourite heel style: - Underslung western boots for over 40 years - High Wedge - Stiletto or similar What's your favourite shoe style: Not sure yet. Do you wear your heels outside: Only started recently - boots for now. What is: (a) Your favourite heel height:To be determined ( Your highest heel height: 7 1/2" platform How often do you wear: (a) Your favourite heel height: (:( Your highest heel height: Do you wear socks, hose, stockings or bare feet with your shoes: - Thigh hi's and stockings are good, and I have a preference for VS Bikini's and thongs. Anything else you wish to add Hetero - married with children - Never would have quessed I'd be wearing heels and thigh hi's two years ago.

  8. say do you know where to order metal heels? Or where you can find manufacturers who can produce some?

If the heel will screw out as described, you might be able to find a machinist buddy to make you a set. I personally have never seen anyone wear metal heel tips. Hec, anything over 4" in my neck of the woods is considered pushing it, even for the female population.
  9. How many of you would like to out walk a women in high heels and what height would you wear

The info:- for a whole 24 hour period

    and without taking them off

I can already out walk my wife, but that's irrelevant. What's the point in trying to do out walk someone.

I did a 'walk a mile' event a couple months ago in a pair of Ellies listed as a 6" platform in their catalog. I wore the middle pair in this link.

    http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/609-Gabby-large.jpg

I had college women tell me they couldn't do what I was doing, and most really didn't expect an older dude to be able to complete the event and yet I did and then some.

What's the point?? How about spending 24 hours in a heavy pair of Metatarsal/Steel toe work boots in crappy weather, grease, grime, gravel and steel scrap.

    http://workingperson.com/footwear/mens-steel-toe-boots/metatarsal-boots/red-wing-boots-men-s-met-guard-king-toe-work-boots-4456-102210.html

Would that be a good comparison for the SO's of our world? I know my wife couldn't handle that either, but I can.

  10. My latest passion is the high heeled boots made by Miguel in Mexico.

    http://www.auctiva.com/stores/viewstore2.aspx?id=575689&styleid=65

They are so well made for the price! I have 3 pairs, but primarily wear either the 3" heeled ones with a pointy toe or to a lesser degree, the 4" heeled ones with a rounded toe. What I personally notice is that I can put on the 3" heeled boots and immediately walk comfortably like any other boot of the same or lower heel height. The 4" ones, however, take me a few minutes to get used to. The first few steps it feels like my tendons are in the process of compressing and once they do I get my stride and am perfectly comfortable all day long. A 4" heel height is about my limit. I notice this even when I've worn them all day long for several days in a row. Do the rest of you notice a short delay before being comfortable after first putting on a pair of heels at or near your maximum comfortable heel height or is it just me?

    Charlie

Depends on your leg / muscle structure. As an example, I have never been able to touch my toes, but I discovered about a year ago that I can almost do it with a pair of 4" heels on. I've hiked hundreds of miles in mountains, and flatlands in underslung boots by Dingo, Justin, Frye, with absolutely no problems, but put me in a pair of Nike's and I'm done for in a few hours.
  11. I have about the same feeling... 3" to 3.5" is nothing, but 4"+ takes a minute to get feeling right... I think that if I had shoes or boots with a well made 4"+ heel with the right arch, I would be fine...

I like Miguels boots.. I have a pair with the 5" heels, which are very well made, but the sizing on mine is way off, so i'm a bit apprehensive about buying another pair... I'd really like a pair of his 4" heel boots.. oh, what to do...

Sizing is one of the reasons I'm a bit aprehensive about ordering online. Would love to go to a store and try on some of his boots. They look great. The price is a bit higher than I would like to see, but I do understand that quality and fit come with a price.
  12. In Summer? In daytime? Not if you want to be offered a few hundred pounds for a couple of hours....'work'....!!!:(

Seriously....they're night club shoes. Something like these would be far better:

    http://www.hollywoodheels.com/def/Store/ProductDetails.aspx?categoryId=341&itemId=77273

Colours are your own choice of course.........

    I kinda figured that.

The second link could be an option I'd go for. I did pick up a pair of high heeled platform clogs from Kohl's recently that would probably be OK.

As I live in a rural woodier area, I could always get a pair of Camo mules. Maybe nobody would see them??

  13. Coming back to the OP, there is an art to dressing for Summer, and it's worth remembering the 'do's' and 'dont's' that apply to heels/clothes.

If you want to be looked at - but not stared at - then with a mini-skirt in Summer, it is definitely Summer heels too.

So, mules or strappy sandals, flip-flops or flatties. Dark boots, pumps and Mary-Jane's are definite 'no no's' and will gurantee that you're looked at for all the wrong reasons - especially if you're a guy in high heels. If you want to look 'tarty', then higher heels and/or bright colours are the way - but be prepared to be stared at.....guy...or gal.

So would those Ellie 'Tux' mules be too much??
  14. How many men or women wear high heels ( 4" and higher) with shorts? and if so do you wear hose?

Hadn't given much thought about shorts. Never really liked shorts as a kid, and never in my later years. Only recently have I started wearing a mini skirt around the house, but that's when nobody else is around. This last summer, it was mini's and Ellie sandals when I wasn't doing work around the house. So much cooler in the summer heat, and it's better than wearing nothing at all.

As for public - - nope - - ain't happening. Well maybe if I had over the knee boots which means I might as well wear jeans as usual.

I have aquired a lot of battle scars on my lower legs from years of construction and heavy industry activities. If I were to go out in a mini and heels. I'd be looking to use stockings to hide the battle scars, so opaque varieties would be required.

Just imagine a dude in a tee shirt, mini skirt, dark thigh hi's and stripper high heels like the ones in my avatar - - - - No - - I still don't think so.

  15. Well it was an oppertunity to get your heel wearing out. I would like my wife to ask me something like that one dasy then i will most certainly take her up on that. Cheers

That's kinda how I discovered high heels.

For years I bought all kinds of evening items / attire for my wife, but she rarely ever wore them. She has a couple pairs of heels, but she hasn't worn them in many years.

I joked with her one night that maybe she might consider putting on some thigh highs and heels as I thought she would look good in them.

She came back with a snappy answer something like "If you like that stuff so much, why don't you wear it."

Needless to say, the stockings and bikinis/thongs are mine now. I have my own heels of which she has seen only a few pairs so far.

I'm the one who greets her at the door after work. She thinks it's kinda weird, but shortly thereafter - - well - - she's not upset anymore.

  16. My new favorite store to go shopping and trying on high heels is Burlington Coat factory. I am thankful their size eleven's fit me comfortably.

Good tip - - Never would have thought of them as a place to get shoes and boots.

One more thing. My high school girls are telling me that they have a lot of fellow students who are having a hard time getting shoes big enough. Seems there are some girls pushing 12 and 13 US, so I suspect we will seee some bigger sizes coming out in the near future. May not help now, but it's worth watching for

  17. My husband is the same as you. He loves me wearing mules with hosiery too.

I don't mind, although mules are probably the most difficult of high heels to walk in (ballet heels excepted....) - so adding something that takes away any kind of adhesion for my feet is really tricky.......

....So, we compromised. I wear them in bed.....with stockings.

Gotta agree with pussyinboots on this one. I tried thigh highs with my first pair of mules once while surpising the little lady of the house one night. I had a hell of a time keeping my heel centered of the shoe. Seemed like my heel was always sliding off center. Even with bare feet, I have to really watch what I'm doing in these shoes. Haven't determined if it's the position of my foot, or how I'm walking in them yet, but I sure as hell don't want to fall of these mules. It's a good ways to the hardwood if I do.

    http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/673-Tux-large.jpg

Oh - and I paired them off with a set of vertical stripped black thigh highs and a pin strip mini, and a bow tie - - - Hmmmmm

I wasn't on my feet very long.

  18. Oooooohhhhhhh - Neckties. Nothing like putting a decorative noose around your neck. I quit wearing neckties when I left a cubicle farm engineering department. Nothing like sharing a huge room with 50 other people with no outside windows, having to dress up for work, and never seeing anyone else except your office mates, and the other department cubicle farms. I did save some of my Grandfathers skinny silk ones from the 30's and 40's but I haven't worn one in a good 20 years. OK - - I take that back. I did use one as a headband once. I ran out of bandanas, but it was a newer knit tie from the 80's.

  19. so its no surprise im a heel fan but not much of a heeler myself. see this link for my past regarding heels.

    http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/board/man-on-high-heels-or-platforms-t26720-90.html

then i bring you halloween and my insane wife

she cant wear them.....so she made me wear 8 inch heels for halloween

she bought and made me wear these

    http://www.sexishoes.com/8inpostwi4in3.html

i had no idea how the hell to walk in them.........id rather fall on my face

    lol

I would have preferred a sandal strap just to help keep the heel in place. Mine seem to drift a bit depending on the shoe.

You need to get some practice time in a bit before the main event.
