  1. Met up with another fellow heeler from here at a 'walk a mile in her shoes' event at a large state university. We were the only two middle aged gentlemen in amongst the slew of college guys. Since this is a charity event, I decided 'what the Hell - lets have some fun' and selected items I would probably never wear out in the general public.

I selected a pretty wild pair of Ellie heels with shiny mirror finish in fuscia (the middle pair here - > http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/609-Gabby-large.jpg ) and some fishnet thigh highs from leg Avenue like these - - > http://www.bananashoes.com/images/D/LA9201-01-01.jpg along with a black denim wrap around 13" long mini skirt and the VS string bikini know one would ever see anyways. A plain T-shirt and a flannal shirt if the temps were low. No way was I really gonna try CD'ing it as my beard and hair fall into Lumberjack / back woods catagory - - Not fashionable.

Now consider that the farthest I had ever wore any heels higher than a 2" cowboy boot was maybe 100 yards beyond a house, so doing a mile was gonna be a real experiment.

I can tell you this, All the girls loved the look, took lots of pictures (mostly from the skirt down) and hooted and hollered the whole mile. I even ate lunch and chatted with some of the folks afterwords for about an hour in heels. Most of the girls wanted my shoes, and many commented that I walked better than they could in heels this high.

As for the mile - - up and down hills, stairs, cobblestone pavers - - and no problems at all.

    I had a blast.

  2. Hey Rebop24; Calm down a bit. I work with a lot of people that have no command of the english language above 7th or 8th grade level every day - - and yes they are working adults. Your questions were framed correctly, but as I know myself, some times how people interpret the question can be different.

  3. What you all have stated about the operational premise of an outlet mall is quite accurate but I would add one other component. That is the construction of these malls usually takes place near an interstate highway corridor, either a single very busy artery or the intersection of two such highways and on the periphery of a large metropolitan area or just inside a neighboring state to take advantage of a lower sales tax. There is such an outlet mall named "Prime Outlets" just south of me along Interstate 94. It is located in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin just two miles north of the Illinois/Wisconsin border. The sales tax in Illinois varies from 7.5-10% but the sales tax in WIsconsin is 5.0-5.5%, an added incentive. There are even better examples such as outlets in extreme eastern Pennsylvania catering to customers from pricey New Jersey and New York who take advantage of paying ZERO sales tax on clothing, shoes, and furniture in Pennsylvania. The one thing I have noticed about shoe shopping at outlets is that sizes are more limted than in the mainline stores.

There is a Prime Outlet mall on I-71 between Columbus and Cincinnati. Always busy. I don't think sales tax has much to do with it in Ohio. I wasn't really impressed when I went there.
  4. """Remember, the only "crossdressers" you will see are the really lousy ones, the rest you will just see as women! """ And you will never get any competition from me. Now way I could ever pull off the look and I know it. Based on your Avatar, you make it look good.

  5. Definitely Different. Not sure what I think of the look as I ponder it at this point. It is well planned, and works as a whole, but - - - - - I don't know?!?! OK - - My first impression when I saw the first picture was that you were planning on playing the role of a villian in an upcoming sequel of the movie "Wild Wild West" - - probably not what you were going for. Now if I was to attempt the look, the only thing I would do different is wait until my Santa Clause face and hair grow out, and leave my natural skin tone, which is best described as a suntanned german with light blue eyes. I'm just not a fan of the sunlight deprived look. Once I look beyond that, the outfit is interesting on it's own merits. OK - - I'll go back to my corner now.

  6. Hold up dude. I understand what your talking about in your quest for information. Went looking in my Ellie catalog, and no, they do not state the heights as you requested. I talked with a gal I know who sells the Ellie line, but she doesn't have any in stock (store chain drop ships what they want to sell, so she can't even order in for me)

What she did say for what it's worth is that most of her "pro's" who dance in this boot have no problems with the height. She was thinking that a short person might have a problem with the inside length, but that any regular person should have no problem with height. She believes height stays the same throughout the size range.

The US Ellie web site plans on adding a 'where to buy' listing, but it's not completed, and hasn't been for over a year. http://www.ellieshoes.com/showcase/retail.asp You might try contacting Ellie and see if they can help.

As for finding these boots, I'd say your best bet would be to go where the working girls buy there boots. I have to believe some of these adult shops with shoes and boots just might have what your looking for. I'd look for stores near strip clubs. That's where I have purchased my Ellies.

  7. Not sure about the 8260, but I do have a pair of the 8220 US size 10 in red. Just measured the back of the heel and it's just shy of 5" at the seam. I usually can pick up a size 10 off the shelf, and pretty much know it will fit. When I tried on these in a size 10, they were tight, but since it was my first pair of pumps, I figured it would take some break in. Hasn't really happened yet. I have to wear stockings, and my feet have got to be totally dry, and first thing in the morning. Otherwise, my little toes will kill me after about 10 minutes (Could be because of my steel toe boots screwing with my toes that doesn't help) May just wait for winter to attempt getting into these for awhile. Love the look, and it seems a bit higher/steeper stiletto than I like, but they go well with anything she might like in the bedroom. I'd say go the next size up if they have them. Most other lines in Ellie seem to fit spot on, although I have to say that my M-Joliet strappies are a size 9

  8. Maybe not so fast. If one assumes that's what sold in the outlet is what isn't selling well either in the mainline stores or the webiste, then all of those 12's in the outlet know might be a death sentence for 12's in the stores and website in the future.

Consider this possible option - If they sell well in an outlet store, wouldn't that imply there is a market for size 12's in the mainline store front.

I'm sure there is a market if there are 12's in the clearance isle of anyplace with an open return policy, which implies there is business on the web for 12's.

Also consider that some outlet stores are so popular, they will put inventory up to keep the outlet store stocked. Most shoppers assume the outlet store is the leftovers, discontinued, returns, etc. but if they sell 100 pairs at a discount and 10 pairs at the mainline, what possible profit margin could be made if the discount is minimal.

Gotta think like the bankers that screwed us on Wall Street. Put your margins where the stock is moving.

  9. ALL men wear heels and it's totaly accepted...but no one calls them heels.

Biker/electrician boots are steel toe leather boots with a 2.5" heel and a 1" platform.

Cowboy boots have a 2.5" heel.

Most steel toe boots have a 1.5"-2" heel with 0.5" platform.

Riding boots which is either cowboy boots and biker/electrician.

I got a pair of these. Harley Davidson

    ---------

Forgot to mention Combat boots. They too have a 2.5" heel with 1" platform.

I know it's been awhile since you posted, but I have to disagree on the heights.

I wear steel toe, electrician, and most other work wear. I havent seen anything in the last few years with more than a 1/2" front sole and maybe a 1" heel when it comes to work boots. You don't see much steel shank soles either. I've worn western riding/underslung heels for over thirty years, and within the last few years, you rarely find anything over a 1 3/4" heel, and usually straight block chunky.

The Harley boots you pictured are not as common anymore as they have thinned out the sole overall, and besides, the height difference front to back is minimal.

Consider this - Walmart is now one of the biggest sellers of work boots. They don't raise prices on their boots. They cut out material. They keep getting shorter, thinner and cheaper. Besides that, most people want their work boots to feel like their Nike's.

Take a look next time your out and about.

Sorry about the rant, but I've done a lot of boot shopping in the last few years. When a western wear tack shop sales associate tells me that men who want higher heels - underslung, and smaller sizes go to the womens aisle, you start looking at the trends. Mens footwear is going flat.

  10. Hey UpBy5; I believe I know what your describing when you talk about the heel flex feel. I've noticed it more in single sole shoes than anything else. Seems as soon as you get about at least a 1/4" platform, it disappears. I have a lot of Pleaser and Ellie in my closet, and anything with a platform seems rock solid. As for the 'Original Susan' regarding weight distribution, that 1/3 - 2/3 theory sound like it's spot on.

  11. I usually wear 11 in women's, but these fit fine as you can see in the photo. Of course, an open back clog is a bit more forgiving on size, but I still feel these run nearly a full size large. If they were true 10, I might get my foot in that far, but my arches would start to ache from the tight top, and that hasn't happened in several hours of wearing.

I used to love the shoe department in Kohls, they always had some good mark-downs which usually came up even cheaper at the register. Alas, the last time I went there they seem to have stopped stocking size 11 in the store. I guess by doing that they can cram in a few more styles.

Well that's good news for me - - means I should be able to fit in a size 9, and odds are, they are in stock. Now I just need to scrape some cash up and get to a Kohls pretty quick.

    Thanks for the update

  12. Canton Ohio is a very central location for the whole US but doesn't have the sites of all those other places unfortunately. Just a thought. Please try to make the Canton heel meet on the 6th of Nov. TU Johnieheel:wavey:

Funny thing is that most any time, I could be there in under an hour, but I'll be in Bengal land unless something changes between then and now
  13. Speaking of size, I have seen a lot of size 11's in the local stores. Granted, there isn't a Bakers within 50 miles of me, but Payless, Shoe Dept, Famouse Footware, and even JCPenneys, Sears, Kmart all carry something in womens size 11 Funny thing is, most don't have didly squat in a mens size 8 or lower

  14. How about 5'9" and a womens size 10 for the most part. I have size 9's too. Not that flexible. Very tight muscle structure. Couldn't touch my toes to save my life. Funny thing I discovered is that it's easier for me to do this in 4" heels. Had I known my leg muscle structure is perfect for heels 30 years ago - - well - - things would have been different today.

  15. I voted no only because I haven't been out locally by myself or with my significant other. Don't think she would be happy with me in heels and her in flats. She never wears heels these days. I think she would rather keep it in the bedroom if you know what I mean. I did do a 'walk a mile' event recently, but that doesn't count in my book, besides, there is no way I could wear a pair of heels like the pair I wore for the event out in the general public - - flash stripper heels all the way. I've tried on shoes/boots in a variety of stores with little to no problems so far, and did get a pair of boots I think I can pull off a public outing with little to no problem, but I think I'll wait until I get somewhere that nobody I know will be at. Maybe a Mall half way accross the state during one of my cross country drives I make regularely these days. Walking around in high heels above a western boot in my neighborhood would be dangerous in more ways than one. Back country roads and lots of gravel coupled with neighbors that don't even wear boots with underslung heels. They think I'm crazy wearing Dingo's with a 2" stacked riding heel, but I've been doing that for almost 30 years in the woods etc. so it's no problem for me. We will see how well it goes in the next few weeks.

  16. As strange as it may seem, a lot of the high school girls are wearing them (leg warmers) right over top of there skinny jeans, and short boots. Most are in heeled boots under 3". It's a warmth issue, and has little to do with style with these girls. They would wear them with regular jeans and hi-tops.

  17. I think they will be perfect with skinny jeans.

I'd have to agree, but these would work well as a dinner event shoe where skinny jeans are OK. Can't see clubing with these. More refined I'd say.

Matching a dress to these might be tough - - - Unless - - (and I may be way out there) What about a pretty plain business suit? Depending on the work place, this just might be the accent a plain business suit might need to set it off.
