    They look great @RonC

Look forward to seeing you in them

Thanks jeremy1986.  And to those discussing the narrower heel, the more I thought about my walk yesterday, the more I agree.  Much less "clompy" for the lack of a better word.  Personally, I loved it when an uneven surface would cause a bit of wobble!

  2. Been threatening to by a bootie style with something other than a block or chunky heel to wear out and about.  Pulled the trigger on these today.  Posire by Rialto in size 11.  Kind of narrow for my foot but I can wear them without too much discomfort.  Hope they will stretch some.  Paid only $20 at Burlington Coat Factory.  I immediately changed into them and did some more shopping at Target, Marshall's and a bookstore.  I did have on long jeans that covered the heel, but when I passed windows where I could see myself, It was clear that I was wearing heels.  Didn't really notice any looks, but then I was keeping to myself.  It was a thrill to wear a narrower heel - what is interesting is that they seemed easier to walk in than my blockier heels style oxfords that I left the house in, despite the heel being a good 1/2 inch higher.  I loved the feeling of a bit of wobble in the ankle as well as the unmistakable click of the heel.  For my first time out in thinner heels, it was great!  Not me in the following photo...lol.

  3. So I have been wearing heels in public for several years now.  Typically thicker or block heels, and always with slacks or jeans long enough to pretty much cover the heel.  Lately, I have found that I am just not getting much of a thrill wearing the block heels.  They are generally quite easy to walk in and don't present much of a challenge.  As a result, I have been looking for something with a much thinner heel that I can feel comfortable wearing out in public.  I will never be the guy that wears skinny jeans which end at the ankle and a pair of heels, as I really have no desire to have the fact that I am wearing heels be noticed.  I just want the challenge of wearing the thinner heels out walking about, and will retain the long slacks to pretty much hide the heel.  I wear my stilettos at home, but there is so much difference between walking around the house and being out on the street, and I want to experience that feeling.   The day is coming soon!  I will likely look for an ankle boot with a thinner heel for my initial excursions, but I'm looking forward to the thrill!

  4. Was out shopping for heels yesterday, and noticed a disturbing trend.  In my area, DSW is the store that has by far he biggest selection of shoes.  While they don't often have my size (12 US), I always enjoy shopping there, as their selection of heels is great, and I can occasionally find a size 11 that fits OK.  For years the stores would have two to three aisles devoted to heels of all types.  Yesterday, I was in the stores and found in two different locations that the selection of heels has basically shrunk to a single aisle, or maybe one and a half aisles.  Flats have taken over a big part of that space - I've never seem so many flats in the stores.  And of course boots now with winter coming, but it seems that flats have been the biggest culprit.  I think us heel lovers are going to be suffering for a while.  It's happened in the past, and has always turned around.  I hope I live long enough to see the reversal, if it happens, once again.  I am afraid that, with all of the negative press heels get these days, they may not come back, or at least not as strong as history would indicate.  Look around - how often do you see a women in heels (unless you maybe work in the business district of a large city and also play the nightclub scene - they are more prevalent there, but even then, way down from what it used to be).  Definitely a down time coming.

  5. Interesting question.  I can remember way back to when I was quite young, maybe 6 or 7, and going shopping with my Mom and Dad for shoes for my Mom.  She would always try on several pair, and always looked great in them.  Dad would comment on which one's he liked, so I'm guessing he liked to see the ladies in heels as well, though I lost him at 15, so never really had a chance to know that or not.  Also, among our family unit, I was the youngest boy, and the similar aged kids were mostly girls, so at family gatherings, I tended to be with the girls.  I can remember one cousin that, when she was probably 10 or 11, had a shoe size similar to my Mom (she wore a size 51/2 US, so quite small feet), and when she was at our house, she, along with another girl, would always ask to wear my Moms heels.  They seemed to get great joy from that.  Then there were other girls in my neighborhood who were always playing dress-up with their Mom's heels and again, seemed to derive much enjoyment.  Somehow, that got wired into my brain that heels were something quite enjoyable.  Eventually, that turned into a sexual turn-on - seeing the girls in heels.  I can recall trying on my Mom's shoes at a pretty young age (obviously, as with her small feet, I had to be pretty young to fit in her shoes) and I just loved the look and feel of those heels.  Rarely had a chance to wear much of anything once I outgrew Mom's shoes - heeling was rare as a teenager due to lack of access.  But then once I had a job (my own money) and access to a car, I began buying my own heels.  Spent a lot of money on those as I had nowhere to keep them, so they got worn a few times and then dropped in a Goodwill box or something.  As with many here, the reason for wearing was initially sexually related, and I still do get a rush when I wear a pair of heels.  But now, I just enjoy the way they feel and look.  I do wear heels out in public, but they are styles that mostly go unnoticed.  I would love to walk around in a pair of stilettos but at my age, and with hips and knees that give me trouble, likely not going to happen.  So I leave the more feminine styles for wear at home, and am content to experience the feeling of the heels in the more mundane styles.  I do it for the experience.

  6. Personally, my only question is, why?  I don;t get it.  Shoes are meant to be walked in, and there would be no walking in those things.  To each his own, not criticizing, but not my idea of good looking or fun.  I know, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.....but I couldn't help but comment.  But you are having fun, so that's all that counts!

Thanks RonC!  If only the larger size brands and retailers felt the same.  I miss the days of places like Torrid stocking classically cut, office pinup type heels.  While I like the more exotic stuff fine, I want to see classic pumps with a 3" - 4 1/2" heel up through 13+.

With you on that one Lime!  Sure would be nice to have those options.

  8. Not sure if I should call these shoes or boots?  Anyway, these will be my new heels for fall and winter public outings.  Clarks Tarah Victoria, size 12 (US).  Purchased through shoes.com at $65 with shipping included.  Heel in size 12 measures right at 3".  Very comfortable in initial walk around.  While they appear somewhat stiff, they flex nicely.  never been a big fan of oxford styles, but the ability to tie these makes it a much better fit which I believe I can wear more comfortably.  Very happy with these so far.

Michael Kors Susan Flex pump. Leather upper with rubber sole/heel tip. So far comfortable and quiet. These might be my practical go to shoes for a bit as with 'feels like' temps over 100, boots are getting a bit warm.

Really like those - classic style, nice low cut vamp, and a walkable heel!

Great pair of sandals.  I wish I could find a pair in my size 12.  Very sexy!

  11. Glad to hear they survived, but unfortunately, my favorite Payless store did not.  It was one where the women's size 12 ailse was not visible from the storefront, and the clerks all knew where I was headed when I came in.  I will miss that store - it was so comfortable for me trying stuff on there.
