  1. OK, how to solve this problem: In summer when I go for a pedicure I make sure to wear sandals or slippers so that I do not ruin the pedicure when I put on my shoes. But, it is 5F ( about -15C0 here in Massachusetts right now and there is 2 feet of snow lying around. Whenever I wear boots shortly after the pedicure I find that it scufss the polish. I can't sit around for an hour in the pedicure place to let it completely harden. Any solutions ? Run through the snow in slippers ?

  2. Worn them to the girlfriends and also wore them out a bit last night in a couple of shops. Intentions are high to get a bit braver with a slightly more public place tomorrow than the odd newsagents.

Will pop into a department store is the plan..... We'll see how the bottle goes. I've done it in some of my boots but not so much in the spike heels as they are quite noisy, but I'm going on it being busy enough for it to be unnoticed. And as we find readign other threads, it's always louder to those wearing them and conscious of them.

Those are nice boots, Clicker. Seems like you are getting more confident in wearing them. I used to be scared to death to wear stiletto heels, but now I do it regularly. It is definitely a step up from wearing block heels. I am so comfortable with the latter that I don't even cover them anymore with long pants, which I sitll do with spike heels. As long as you can coordinate the look well, you will get good comments, I am sure.

  3. Famous Footwear is usually pretty cheaply made shoes and some left overs from other brands. I sometimes find shoes from places like Nine West there that are more expensive at Famous shoes than on sale at nine West. I rarely find a good deal there. Better to shop on sale at better known brands. You will get better quality shoes. The boots look nice though.

  4. Walking out of the store, i came to the following conclusion:

I just bought a pair of boots which are way to high (far overknee, which is what i like, but was not my goal today), the quality is not all that (heel feels a bit wobly), they are very pointy (very femenine), They have a stilleto heel, opposed to the blade heel i wanted, since the material is stretch, the boots don't offer any support, and i probably could have bought them cheaper online....... great............... I then realized WHY i bought them, which must be exactly the same reasons why woman buy shoes which don't fit..... they looked so sexy and cool...

Haha. i know why you bought the boots. It has happened to me several times. It is so exciting to try on shoes and get help from the girls in the store, that it is hard to walk out without buying

  5. Hi Spikes, I also started at Payless (like many other folks on the board). People seemed to get good reactions that that chain. They must be doing something well training their employees You can sort of disappear between the aisles when trying on shoes, and they tend to have larger sizes. It is a great way to build up confidence. Soon, you will be trying on shoes at Nine West and other stores ! I don't buy anymore at Payless as I don't like the plastic shoes, but they do have great bargains.

  6. The look of flared jeans with pointed toes and stilettos is really fun. It is a great combination. But if you think that hides your heels, think again. When you walk the pant leg rises up and will definitely expose your stiletto. Also, a pointed toe definitely stands out. I have done the comparison: Wearing jeans with pointed toe boots and a 4.5 inch stiletto heel I attract a lot more attenttion than when wearing my 4 inch block heel boots fully exposed.

  7. I think it's silly to wear high heels and then have to "discreetly" make sure the pant lenth is long enough to (almost) completely hide them. I love my heels and love to display them. See my reply to the "reactions" thread above this thread.

    I don't get it Stripperjonn.

In the other thread you say you never wear heels outside.

Lastly, I do not wear heels in the general public.

So, you are talking about "displaying them" in your living room ?

  8. This discussion is drifting into strong generalizations. I am sure that when you are wearing 5 inch patent stilettos it is likely that a guy's comment of "nice shoes" is sarcastic or fake. But that is no different from the fake comments that women sometimes give each other about their shoes or clothes. Have you never witnessed a women giving her friend a compliment on 'great outfit" on a totally outrageous and ridiculous outfit ? There is no doubt that in the approriate style men can look good in heels. There are plenty of guys on the board here that have demonstrated that with pictures. When an open-minded women gives a comment of appreciation for that, I don't see why one should dispel that as fake. Those that go out in heels with style simply have the courage to create their own style, and not limit themselves to what much of society expects them to do. To me, that seems healthy

  9. I don't mind reactions, at least most of them. Two types of reactions are fun in particular. First one, is the long stare following the shoes and me for seconds. These are guys (or women, but mostly guys) that seem to be slow on the update, figuring out what is going on. Their mind just can comprehend a guy in heels, so they need to stare for several seconds to not make their brain reject the picture. I sort of enjoy these reactions. I hate to say it, but it makes me feel like I am better than the staring person. The second reaction is the positive type (always from women). Like when I walk in a store and women say "I like your shoes/boots" It is a clear sign of acceptance and if people go out of their way to give the compliment they must feel that we are doing the right thing expressing our choice in fashion. But I agree with Firefox to stay away from the herds of congregating teenagers. Nothing good comes from that. When they giggle at you or shout at you, just keep in mind that the teenage mind is still under development

  10. Goede dag, Dutch Bootie. Ik heb dezelfde schoen maat als jij. Sorry, that is all I still know of Dutch. (Means I have the same shoe size). I hope you get to enjoy this board. Holland is always thought of as a very tolerant country. Do you have any trouble wearing heels outside ?

  11. I know. I do a lot of shopping other times of the year, but Christmas has an almost Halloween-like quality to it, with people carrying half a dozen shopping bags making their ways through a crowded mall. I found it a great time wear heels. During this period I managed a few "firsts". Went out with wearing purple pointed stiletto boots. Before that I was a bacl or brown guy. Also went out with fully exposed heel. All without any trouble.

  12. Hi Corsair, Thanks for the great stories ! And welcome. You will find a lot of like-minded people here. I agree with Robert. With 2" and under people won't even stop to look at your shoes, unlike they are like pink with kitten heels. Even at 2.5" block heels my experience is that people are more thrown off by my flare pants than the boots. I hope you get to enjoy a lot more heel wearing outings

I enjoy your shopping reports and no trouble with the acceptance. I agree that people are so intent on shopping they don't notice. I spent the entire afternoon earlier this week at the mall with 3" heeled boots with no concerns. My jeans didn't cover the heel at all and I had a great time. I do have a pair of 5" stiletto pointed toe boots that I would love to try on my next shopping trip and after your experience I am more inclined to give it a go. Maybe while everyone is back at the mall exchanging all the gifts after Xmas...

    Jim

Yes, I am almost sad the shopping season is almost over. Less opportunity to wear my heels. I used to go shopping early in the morning in malls as there are less people. Now, I realize that more people makes me stand out much less. One advantage of having few people is that one tends ot get better service in the stores and if you are lucky you can even have a chat with a shoe loving sales girl !
