  1. One downside of trousers cut for men is the leg cuff is usually too small to sit nicely with a heeled shoe. Simple answer is to aquire a pair of ladies trousers which are lighter and far more comfortable to wear, and are designed to wear with heels (naturally). The downside is little or no pocket facility and you must be left handed for a trip to the gents. Now WHY do ladies garments do up the other way to mens?

The history of this is that historically women's garments were designed to be put on by a maids. The maid would stand in front of the women when helping her get dressed. Hence the zippers and buttons would all be the reverse of "normal" garment

  2. One of my first pairs was a set of 6 inch patent pumps. Basically, stripper heels that I bought in a junk market. After that I bought various block heel boots. But now, I have developed a much more diverse style. I favorite is sandals do I can not always get a way with it. I have also lots of boots with all kinds of heels: stileto, block, blade, etc. I find it fund to try on new styles as they come in fashion and wear them out.

  3. I just bought two pairs at Nine West a few days ago. They had a great sale. I tried at least five pairs on. Sales girl was super helpful. Very supportive. I chatted with another women and even tried on the same pair she was trying on. Ended up buying that pair and wearing it out of the store. After that I went to First, which is part of the Aldo company. As soon as came in the sales girls complimented me on my shoes, even though I was wearing long jeans with them. The absolutely wanted me to try on some of their boots and I happily obliged :-) I ended up not buying there since they didn't have my size, but definitely one great experience. One thing I find is that I start out these shopping trips with limited confidence. But once I go into the stores and find supportive staff, my confidence rises and I proudly wear my heels. For those of you who haven't done it yet, go for it. Trying on heels in stores, like anyone else, is so much fun.

  4. I'm noticing more and more that if I go into a shoe shop and ask to see something the assistant brings me the shoes and prepares them for me to try on without even asking.

I get the same thing. I have had several sales people describe shoes to me, clearly indicating that they would look god on me, or mention what I could wear with it.

  5. I don't think that I will wear the skirt but the heels, we will see. I usually wear them with long boot-cut jeans that cover almost all the heel. It will be cold in January so I doubt a skirt (ones I have are not long) would work.

I think you can get away with anything. So if you want to wear the skirt and your wife encourages it, then definitely try it out.

  6. I bought a pair of these Nine West Lucero pumps in black patent. They have quickly become my favorite shoes to wear at home. Now I am fairly brave when it comes to wearing heels outside when I go shopping - I have worn stiletto boots and HH sandals with polished nails - but have never had the guts to wear these outside. Patent shoes do seem to jump out at people and the small amount of toe cleavage also stands out. I am sure this problem is all in my head, but any suggestions on what to pair these with ? The picture is of the same shoes in black leather. Couldn't find a pic of the patent ones.

I like both these pairs a lot. The second pair is probably quite OK ti wear without too much attention. I don't think the first pair is too girly. I wear heels like that quite often. But I agree that the second pair will get

    you less attention. Lovely boots

  8. I don't have any problem with men in high heels. I live in the SF Bay Area so I have seen quite a few men in high heels. Some of the men are Goth types, some gay/tv/tg, some are with their girlfriends/wives. I believe that life is short and as long as you're not hurting anybody, you should pursue what makes you happy.

Personally though, I would rather see men in stylish heels, or heels that suit their style. Like a pair of pink patent stilleto pumps do NOT go well with a pair of jeans and a baggy sweater, but maybe a pair of black chunky heeled boots do! And I have seen both! I also think that only really skinny men, (and women for that matter!), can pull off stilettos of any kind. There was a guy working at the MAC makeup counter at Nordstrom who wore stiletto pumps that were higher than anything I could ever wear, but he looked pretty good and was actually kind of cute because they matched his outfit and frame. People who are larger tend to look like tops in stilettos, and they usually look better in chunky heels. But that's just my opinion...

Thanks for the comment. While I life on the East Coast I have many times gone shopping in San Francisco while wearing heels and have received nothing but positive comments (if any at all). It seems like a very open-minded population.

I'll be there again this week and plan to do some serious shoe shopping !

  9. I fly with heels in my carry-on all the time. Had it opened many times. Never a problem. Heels on long flights is a pain. There is already so little leg room as it is, and making your legs longer doesn't help. So I do not do it anymore.

  10. 1. What is your favorite brand? Based on what I have in the closet: Nine West and Bakers and Franco Sarto. 2. Why is it your favorite brand? Bakers sells girly shoes. Nine West and Franco Sarto have great shoes that are classy and a reasonable value. I have many comfortable high heel shoes from both brands. My normal work shoes are low heels from Franco Sarto 3. Where do you most often buy it? Local stores. I love to try them on and get suggestions from sales people. 4. What is the typical price range?

  11. I used to have the habit of immediately wearing the shoes I buy in the mall. This is a recipe for disaster. New shoes with a leather sole can be very slippery, especially on marble floors. I once skidded with my arms flying in the air, but magically stayed upright (sort of)

  12. I agree with the previous two postings. My wife is aware of my heal wearing and is OK with it. She herself does not wear serious heels and has no interest in going shopping for heels with me, even though I would very much enjoy that. But we can not impose our lifestyle on others and should praise ourselves lucky to have accepting spouses. The only time my wife gets upset is when I hide things from her. So in the past I would hide purchases from her because I was afraid of how it wold make her feel. I now realize that it is better just to tell her and not make a big deal about it.

  13. Congratulations on a good choice of boots for a first outing. The most important thing is to be confident with the style you wear. I concur that busier places is actually better. If you are the only person on the street or in the mall, people will look at you, heels or no heels. I prefer less people when I go shopping for shoes as I can get more attention in the shoe stores. But just for walking around, more people is better.
