  1. I work in a call center, and for about 2 years, really had no issues with wearing heels (or anything else female for that matter), as long as it looked professional - that was the stipulation. Once I advanced into a lead role (just below supervisor), I was asked to stop, as it was a perception thing between supervisory personnel and subordinates. It wasn't an order, but a request from my manager. For the amount the raise was, it was worth it. I still wear heels everywhere else though!

Aren't managers supposed to look down on subordinates? I would have thought you'd have been asked to wear platforms? lol << joking >>

  2. Here's the full link for the boots: http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/women/boots/ankle-boots/85666468-crisson/97

Looks like a nice, clean design (in both the black and the beige). The zipper on the outside seems a bit uncommon. Maybe a style design? As others have commented, probably a great pair to wear if you don't want to attract much attention.

I saw you later post saying they seemed a bit higher in person. What's the actual heel height for your pair?

    Wow! I really like those!

  3. No, the walking is a key part of my job. Heels won't work when trying to catch horses in muddy fields. It's dodgy enough in wellies or riding boots! lol

Er, my job location is about 12 yards from my front door...

    me at work BTW.

    Wouldn't pony boots work? lol

  4. A few years ago it would have easily been more women's boots than men's, but after the last purge of worn out and boots I got tired of on the women's side and the recent addition of all men's Miguel Jones western boots with high heels, I'd say it's almost dead even. Of course, in reality the Miguel Jones boots while labeled as men's boots would only really be available on the women's side of the isle virtually anywhere else. Charlie

  5. What exactly does the "underslung" mean?

When looking at the boots from the side, the heel in the back comes down at an angle that moves towards the front of the boot. If you do a search of underslung heeled boots, you'll find all kinds of pictures.

  6. My current rage is western boots with 4" high heels that are underslung a little bit. My favorites are the high shafted ones that come up just under my knee and have a side zipper for convenience. I wear them daily. Charlie

  7. Why wait? Make the party happen at your place. Then you could not only make the dress code fit what you want to wear, you'll have a great time planning it, practice wearing the boots, and showing them off to your guests! Don't forget to invite me! I'm not Republican, but I love a Grand Old Party! HA HA HA

  8. I've never tried a real high platform boot before and I've always wondered if I could manage a 5+ inch heel if the platform in the sole was high enough to make the boot seem like a 4" heel. I finally said what the hell and ordered these for a mere $45.00. I went with the flat black color in the middle. Walking in them is a cinch. They're actually very comfortable! No, they are not my out in public kind of style as I think most women would get crap for wearing them too, but they are undeniably fun! Who knows? Maybe the right kind of party will come along some day? LOL Charlie

  9. Hey Rob, I hear what you're saying. My progress into the 5" heeled Miguel boots has been slower than I would have liked and this is with wearing the 4" ones to work every day! Last week I wore the 5" heeled boots to pick up a prescription, to go to the bank, and then to dinner. No problem, but I'm not sure they'll ever be as effortless for me as the 4" ones are. I do like the challenge though and will wear them out more often now. Stay with it! You may want to get yourself a custom pair with the 4" heels as you'll be able to get used to these much easier and they are a little more practical. Good luck! Charlie

  10. It's really hard to believe that in the 21st century there would be so much hub-ub over doing what he did? It's really amazing when you think about it. We're just talking clothes and make-up here? Right? Perhaps if we'd all just let people be who they were born to be there'd be nothing but happiness in the world? The world won't advance as a whole until the last person has realized this.... His father's problem is that he's looking at what his son can do for him instead of the opposite. Charlie

  11. Wow! That was a great post! I can always spot the ladies with elegant heels on in public that feel this way. They just glide. The younger women with heels that they can't manage are another matter, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere? There are those days when I think it would be best to leave the 4" heeled boots home and wear something lower in terms of giving my feet a rest from the height, but when the morning comes I just don't want to part with the feelings of the boots and my feet in them. For me it's all about the challenge of walking in them so well that people don't realize the actual heel height. It's become second nature now with 4". It was a struggle in the beginning though. It takes time to develop the muscles. If that makes me look more graceful too, (lol) so be it. Charlie

  12. So what's wrong with these? I would say the general public male would be more on the Conservative side than any thing else. If men wearing high heels for some women is a travesty you need to be Conservative in designs to start off. If you want more adventures designs buy ones marketed to women. So I say it's a good start.

I tend to agree. It must be working? They only have size 11 and up left?

  13. For sure I meant prejudice/preconceptions of guys wearing heels, but I also meant wider prejudice from our social conditioning too. I think accepting my desire/enjoyment of wearing heels has opened my eyes to prejudices I might have had and made me a better person for it. I think this is important because many of us have had phases of feeling "dysfunctional" about wearing heels but it's actually prejudice which is dysfunctional even though society sometimes encourages it. For me that was the key from moving from the poll option "PRIVACY" where I was before (and has the most votes), towards DISCRETION, NEUTRAL and now maybe even a little SHOW OFF creeping in.

There is no doubt at all that by wearing high heeled footwear routinely in public for years now that I've become far more open-minded with regards to the various way others choose to express themselves.
