  1. Those Dad's shorts are not shorts. They are capris. I take my men's pants to the tailor shop to have them shortened to a capri length for me to wear. I won't wear a short that isn't at least several inches above my knees, That's why I'm like Cali and buy women's shorts. However I did buy a couple pairs of shorts this spring (men's) with a 8" inseam and not the baggy men's look that I hate. Maybe the designers are getting a message that baggy shorts for men are passe.

  2. I like to wear red heels too, mirosplant. I have several pairs, both in pumps, slides/mules like you wear , wedges and boots too. I like to wear color and I have no problem with other colors too like blue, purple, corral, green, yellow, pink and especially white. You name the color and I probably have them in that color.

  3. Yesterday, I saw a couple walking from a parking lot to a funeral home. The couple probably late 30's. She was wearing a pair of sling back, peep toe pumps with a 5" stiletto heel. You could see that she was really struggling walking in those heels. Just the facial expressions said that, "I don't know why I wearing these heels". I wanted to tell her if they were my size and I doubt that they were, I would put them on and show her how easy it would be for me to walk in those heels. LOL Yes many of us guys can walk much better in heels than many women. Maybe we have more practice!

  4. I like your style miroseplant. That's my style for Sunday church wearing too. A suit jacket and some style of heels. Being the warmer weather is here, I've shed my blazer and suit coats for polo shirts and camp shirts. I too don't feel comfortable wearing sandals to church. Many of my lady friends know that I have a red pedi, but I don't want to shock my pastor although he knows that I wear heels to church. I usually change into sandals after church on my weekly shopping trips and do carry a cross body bag, too. I like mules just like you do. I have about 10 pairs of the Nine West "Gemily" slides in a rainbow of colors. I'm a big fan of color and I try to match my top or suit coat with the same color of my shoes. Besides Sunday heeling I'm out in heels and flats several times during the week. I like to wear leggings and jeggings, skinny jeans, ladies capris too. I have many colors of capri jeggings and I'm not afraid to wear colors that other guys wouldn't. I've always considered myself as a fashion forward male which includes wearing heels  and other women's shoes and boots. I get a regular pedi in a red color and get a clear gel mani regularly. My Vietamanese nail teck is all too happy to color my little pinkies with some color and some art decorations, too. She is so talented!

I also have trouble adding pics of my ensembles. I use a self timer camera, but the resolution is too big for HHP, that's why I only write about my heeling jaunts. JeffB must have more time to add all of his pics on his jaunts.

  5. I'm OK with wearing sandals. I too like SF, take great care of my feet. I get a pedi regularly and I do wear color, almost always red. My gal friend, at the spa that gives me my pedi  always tells me how nice and soft my skin is. There is no hair on my feet or on my legs. She also says that a lot of women would love to have legs and feet that look like mine. Not to be bragging, but I do get  compliments on my look when I'm wearing sandals or open toe shoes, from the ladies.

  6. I have shared my heels with other women on occasion. Ones that I know, only. My gal pals at Kay's Jewelers are always asking to try on my shoes. I  always oblige them,  but my size 11 usually is too big for most of them. When my friend Steve 63130  (member here) and I get together, we're always sharing our latest shoe finds as we wear nearly the same size. I wear 11 and he wears some 11's and some 12's. We really enjoy sharing, be it boots, sandals, flats or heels, what ever we got new since our last visit together.

And lastly, I sometimes share a pair of shoes with my wife when she needs a special color or style to wear with her ensemble. She knows that my shoe collection is 10X what she has. She keeps telling me that for every new pair of shoes I buy,  three pairs have to go out. LOL. BTW she wears a size 10W and my 11M are not that big on her.  More than once someone complimented her on her shoes, If their mine  she will tell them she borrowed them from her hubby, as a lot of our friends  know that I wear heels. I'm glad that I don't have to wear a size 13 like JeffB does or she would drown in them!

  7. I remember the Candie's, mule slides. I bought a pair for my wife and I liked them so much I wanted my own pair.  If I remember correctly they only went to size 10. I wear a size 11. I had to get a knock off pair. They didn't have the Candie's logo on them but you really couldn't tell the difference. Even the color was the same. We both had a pair in light blue..

  8. Very nice Heike. I also wear the faux leather leggings but they look much nicer on you. I have gotten some positive comments from my lady friends when I'm wearing my faux leather leggings. They say I look sexy!

  9. I don't wear skirts out a lot, but I do wear my heels regularly. I wear them with dress pants ( men's and women's), leggings and skinny jeans., crop pants and capris.  I do get an occasional stare or look of disbelief from both men and women, but I do get a lots of favorable comments from the ladies and on occasion from a man, too.  It doesn't matter if they are young , middle age or older, many women readily accept men wearing heels.

On a couple of occasions when Steve63130 was visiting me,  we would go out heeling together and we got compliments from the ladies. The most recent one was at Payless Shoes last August,  when the shoe clerk told me that ," I rocked in the high heel sandals I was wearing, with cropped women's pants" She also liked my red pedi, too. She was also pleased to sell me a pair of brown strappy sandals, that were on clearance in the store. The next week I went back to show her my new sandals with a brown and tan ensemble, that I wore. She smiled and said , "I knew that you would look good in those heels". That was music to my ears.

So I have to agree with fellow heeler, malinheels said, above.

  10. I just had a similar experience with a Chinese company that markets shoes on Amazon  called Sunetedance. I ordered a pair of green patent, chunky heel pumps in my normal size 11. I bought other shoes from other Chinese manufacturers and had no sizing problems. When the shoes came they were so small, I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe. They were nice looking shoes, so I tried to return them for a larger size. They wanted me to send a picture of the shoe on my foot. I told them their sizing was way off. They offered me a larger size for an additional $15.00 charge and I wouldn't have to send the pair that was too small back to them. I thought that was fair deal, until I posted a review of their shoes and their sizing problem. I only gave them 1 star. They responded to me that they would ship another pair to me for free if I would give them a better review. I took them up on that. I ordered a size 12.5. When I got them they fit perfect. Now I'm gonna update my review to maybe 3 or 4 stars, as the shoes are very comfy and I like the style and the color. I guess they were afraid with my one star review, that their sales would drop. LOL. The old story with the squeaky wheel holds true here!

  11. I only wear sunglasses from the women's styles. The lenses are always much bigger than men's styles. That gives a lot more coverage for my eyes. Besides who cares if they are women's styles. I like them and never had anyone say anything bad about wearing them.

    RonC + Shyheels,

I think you're both right. Millennials today couldn't fathom a time when one could motor around the Midwest, or rural New England, pull into a filling station and pump your gas before paying for it.  One could then use the bathroom, pick up some free maps, sip a soda, and then chat with the proprietor whilst paying for one's gas all in one shot. Nobody had to calculate how much gas they would need to pump as there was no pre-pay in those days in those rural areas. The last station I remember filling up without paying first was in Kansas last year. Of course this Midwest region is still a place where we have self-service vegetable and fruit stands. There's one within walking distance of my house here in rural Kenosha County. HinH

In my area there is a gas station, that you don't have to pre- pay for your gas unless you want a specific amount. You pump your gas then pay for it in cash only. No credit cards or debit cards are excepted for payment.  There are always long lines at their pumps for cars to fill up on gas, as cash rules  at this station. However for diesel fuel purchases you can pay with a credit card, even pre- pay at the pump. I have  diesel powered trucks and equipment but I have a business account with the owner of this independent station and I pay with a company check for my fuel purchases. The reason that he takes credit cards for truckers is that he sells a lot of diesel fuel to tractor trailer drivers and when they fill up their 300 gal tanks, at $3.02 per gal that's a big chunk of change. That station still has the best prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in our whole area, except for the Indian reservation stations that charge no tax on fuel (New York State taxes) but truckers beware that New York State Department of Taxtation often parks near these reservation stations and  pulls over the big rigs and checks their records to see if their filing their  New York State fuel taxes with the State of New York. If they aren't, they're in big trouble with the State of New York.

Those Tax men don't worry about cars, only the big truck rigs.

And yes, there are many road side stands selling their home grown fruits and vegetables during the growing season, in my area.

  13. Heelster,

You wear corduroy pants?  That's a thing out of the past maybe 20-25 years ago. I haven't seen any man wearing corduroy pants in my area, in at least 20-25 years. Good dress pants will always be in style, and they are not old geezer pants, as you called them. Chinos are a basic style of pants for men and they come in lots of colors and fabrics. Stores like Macy's,  Kohl's , Penny's, Sears carry lots of them. Walmart does too but basically their own brands..I like Dockers, brand which also make dress pants . Izod also makes great pants.

I seldom wear jeans as that's what I was brought up in in the 50's and early 60's. Then they were called overalls  or dungarees and I hated them growing up.

As far as wearing colors, I'm not afraid to wear a pink, purple, yellow, green, orange or bright blue, in dress shirts. Even my 90 + year old,  father-in-law wears those colors.  Never has anyone said we were wearing a gay color. I have dress pants in royal blue, purple, red, yellow, white and green among other bright colors. I find men's dress pants in basic black  and grey very boring. I'm considered a very fashionable dresser by both men and women. Yes, I do wear heels with my dress clothes, even when wearing a suit or a sports jacket, of which I have many bright colors, too.

I guess that's what makes us different as we all have our own tastes, in clothing and shoes.

I carried a purple cross body bag, for years. I carry it when I'm wearing a purple ensemble. Purple is a nice color. In fact it's my wife's favorite color. I have many pieces of clothing and heels in purple color, both men's and women's. My pride and joy is my purple men's blazer. When I wear that coat, I always get compliments from both the ladies and men. I even wear purple nail polish on my little pinkies. So guys don't be afraid to wear purple.

Why not take them to a shoe cobbler and have them cut to fit your calf size. That will make them look much better on your legs. I bought a pair of dark red suede boots on clearance from Easy Spirit, supposedly regular calf size, but my legs  were drowned in the boot calf size. It measured 18", which is a wide calf. I think Easy Spirit was trying to dump them off. I only paid $29.99 for them but was charged $65.00 to size them to a 15"calf size, at the shoe repair shop. Now they fit fine and look great on me. It was an expensive fix, but I liked the color and the style of the boots.
