The past few days, while out traveling I had occasion to visit the official "Center of the World."  It is an interesting, and little known "monument" in the small town of Felicity, California (population 2) in the desert west of Yuma, Arizona.  The location has actually been proclaimed the Center of the World by resolution of the Imperial County Supervisors as well as the Government of France.  It was still warm in the desert - 90 degrees - and I was the only person visiting on this day.

As I wandered around looking at the displays and imagining the dedication, research, planning and cost that went into this project I was approached by a caretaker, she and her husband built the place.  She was very friendly and informative and gave me a mini tour even tho the place was still closed for the summer - they "officially" open on December 1st.

We spent about 20 minutes together and when we parted, she said with a smile , "I really like your shoes."  I was wearing my kitten heels sandals (see attachment), a pair that I have had for a while and really enjoy wearing.  She asked if they were comfortable - they are - and asked if I wear them all the time.  I told her that I am one of "those" guys who like gals shoes and enjoy wearing heels.  She said that she also likes heels, but has never seen a guy in heels but can fully understand why I would enjoy wearing them.

I told her that wearing gals shoes is something I have done for years, it is just a choice that I have made in my life.  She told me that I looked great and we all should do what makes us happy in this short time on earth, the Center of the World included.

A link to the place is below if anyone is interested.

  2. Got a new mani for Halloween  on Friday. Got clear gel on my fingers. and on my little pinkies got Halloween prints. On my right pinkie got white base with black spider webs and two orange spiders too. The left pinkie was done in a black base with an orange Jack-o-Lantern on it. Very nice. Got several nice comments at my nail salon. My nail teck  is a real artist. As far as my toes I'm still sporting my hot pink pedi from last month for Breast Cancer awareness.

  3. I like No Nonsense for every day wear. You can get them at any retailer. Best price is at Walmart. I only wear pantyhose during the cold months. During the warm weather it's bare legs just like the gals.

  4. Capri leggings are a favorite of me. With summer here, I wear them all the time. I gets lots of compliments from the gals especially when I wear my more colorful and floral print capri leggings. I wear them with heels and flats. It doesn't matter.

  5. I will not be giving up wearing heels, under any circumstances. My wife is totally in sync with my heel wearing except on certain occasions when she says the heels I'm wearing are too feminine looking, so I change into a pair she is more comfortable with. Usually a block heel style not over 3". When I'm out on my own, anything goes for me. And yes, the ladies look to see what heels I'm wearing at the time., as I make them totally visible for all to see. I like the compliments, I get from the ladies!

  6. I wear leggings all the time.maybe with heels or with flats. I've never had anyone laugh at me or ask me if I'm gay, because I'm wearing leggings. I always  act like I'm confident in what I'm wearing. I've even had women shoppers in Walmart tell me that I look sharp in my leggings. Your outward appearance makes a big difference whether you get likes or laughs at your appearance.

I would love to know where you live that only charges $75!

I tend to agree with you, but with certain boots, especially a good leather boot, you can stretch them some.

I had a good conversation about stretching calves with the lady who is altering mine. My wife has larger calves and suffers from this dilemma as well. The cobbler has about 26 years experience and said a good thick leather can usually get about an extra inch out of the calves without any issues.

Other materials, etc. she suggested adding an elastic panel which she said she’s done before as well.

Hey KneeBooted, you live in a high end state, Everything costs more in CA. I live in upstate NY, where the cost of living isn't high end!

  8. I too have had my knee boots altered to fit my calves better. It's not a cheap process. Most of the time the shoe cobbler will charge me $75.00 to alter my boots, but in the end the look is so much better. I'll pay the price to get my desired look!

I guess it won´t happen, because there are no heels in this house that would fit me. I´ve tried some fitting heels at meetings and didn´t get the hang on it, so i stick with admiring what others wear. 🤪

    Anyway, have fun in heels!

Just buy your own size, then they will fit you! Try wearing heels yourself, you'll probably like it,  just like I did, over 20 years ago.
