  1. I started with 1-2 inch heels.  In the beginning it was about shoes that fit. When I discovered that my feet fit women's shoes and never really fit men's shoes. I think men's shoes contributed to my leg - ankle - feet problems and multiple surgeries. So my venture started with shorter heels, 1 then, 1.5 and a 2.5 inch heel. I still have them for travel to less high heel countries. The 4"+ came when I had to shorten my calf for an injury and my only viable solution was high heels. That led to pain relief and I never left 4 inches. Now with over 60 pairs, I'm in heels as much as possible and I haven't purchase men's shoes since. I prefer 3.75 to 4.5 but will wear 3.5 to 5+. My new boots are 4.33 inches and my new lace up stilettos are 3.9 inches.

  2. I must live in a different part of the world.

Yesterday I was out for just twenty minutes and during that time saw 1 woman in 4 inch boots and two in 3 inch heels. (I was on the phone so I could say anything to them.)

Today, out for just 10 minutes, saw a woman in 4 inch combat boots and two in 2 inch heels.

  3. Over the years I have found what basic designs work and don't work. Like full zippers work, partial zippers and no zippers don't. Pumps are completely impossible or anything with a tight toe box strap.

I have also discovered that my preferences have changed over the years. Lately, I have been more into stilettos and tall boots.  I love my wedges, but I'm not into wedge boots.

  4. Many of us read it in the Women's forum, but we have been burned by posting over there. You were brave to go to work that way. A long day in ballets does not sound like fun.  (I noticed you only did it once.)

Is a corset a normal part of your attire or added  only for that day?

For me its like wearing my Victoria's Secret stilettos all day.  They are fine for 3-4 hours, but at hour 10 they aren't so much fun.

I've never been able to do plastic shoes of any style. Something about my body chemistry invariably creates a bad result, even in a very open toe sandal. Please do keep us informed about how the Nine West boots work out durability-wise. I have not had great luck with knee highs lasting me very long, which is ironic because I hardly ever wear them.

I'm not talking plastic as much as faux leather, it starts to degrade in 2-3 years.  The other thing I have learned through trial and (expensive) error is I require a full zipper. I can't twist my ankle into boots with no zippers or only a partial zipper. I had always loved the way tall boots look and had a desire to wear them. And now I enjoy my boots. These two leather ones are for rainy days.

  6. I certainly know I can stand and work in heels for 16+ hours straight. Used to before the pandemic. While for some it takes practice to work up to that long in heels, another part is your mind set. If you go into it with the thought it's going to hurt, then it's most certainly will.  I think you @mlroseplantgo into it as it going to be an enjoyable experience and it turns out that way.

It took me about 1 minute to find my balance and walk in 4 inch heels and at 5 minutes it was second nature. I had switched to only women's shoes about 4 years earlier because of fit, 1 - 2 inch heels. It took me a few days practice in 1 inch heels (I'm laughing at myself) before I was confident enough to wear them to work. Currently, my podiatrist wants me to wear at-least a 2 inch heel. Part is genetic; a higher heel absorbs my high arch and stabilizes by ankles. And I have narrow heels that make typical men's shoes feel like clown shoes.

  7. Thanks all.

I have started purchasing leather and suede heels more than man made materials.  I hope they last longer.  I had been looking for a tall leather boot with a full zipper for some time and have been waiting (patiently) for the new fall lines to come out. Nothing from JS yet, but this popped up at Macy's. Now there's a good sale on the Nine West site and I'm trying to resist getting another pair in another color.  The life of a heel addict.

    9 minute update :fine:

I just looked at the Nine West site and the Wine colored ones call my name and for under $75 including taxes and shipping I couldn't say NO.

  8. I just put my new tall Nine West boots in the boots thread.  Also at my doorstep today was my new Jessica Simpson's Riene, lace up stiletto booties.  These are in Navy Suede.  You can never have too many blue suede shoes. Tried them on with my martini party socks. Went up in size because I am learning about JS sizing and their shoe shape. I have a high arch and high foot ridge so many of their shoes I cant get my foot in. But some fit perfectly. These Riene are tough to get past that point (now) but once on they are great. Very comfortable and easy to walk in.
