foosbie welcome to the site. Sometimes when you find a pair that fits well you need to invest in a second (third) pair.

mlroseplant you'll not alone; I feel better wearing heels than not wearing heels. You look at walking as an athletic event and your heels as the equipment you will use, so you find the best equipment for your event. Wear-ability over looks.
Most people (even many member here) consider the style of the shoe and don't consider wear-ability of the shoe. Many don't plan wearing them for hours or walking very far in them. For some its only from the cab to the restaurant, for others the confines of their habitat. Looks over wear-ability.

As it is known people can indeed shrink in overall height over several decades it stands to reason that feet are no different.
A person shrinks vertical due to compression from the force of gravity. I know I've already lost an inch, shock the hell out of me last time I was measured. But the same gravity that shrinks a person would in fact make a person's feet enlarge. The volume of your feet is mostly circulation and retention of fliuds.

I attend the opening days activities for faculty this week and was surprise by how many heels I saw on the women faculty members. Only 1 or 2 higher than mine, but many more than I have seen in past years.
Over all I see less and less high heels.

Sat on the beach until 7:20 pm tonight, 68 degrees, no wind, no humidity, watching the sun set, listening to the live music playing down the beach, but no whales or dolphins or porpoises tonight......just saying...
Oh, I'm planning on retiring here.

I'm lucky to own a home in California, four blocks from the beach, 40 minutes to Silicon Valley. It's a million dollar dump, getting ready to rebuilt. It's "value" has gone up over 70% in 4 years. Tiny houses in my neighborhood rent for $3000+ a month.
Living in California is not for the faint of heart.
