  1. To me, platform shoes and sandals, especially extreme platforms just look strange.  I will stay with single sole sandals, to me that style just looks so much nicer.  But alas, that's me.  Some folks like Chevy's and others Ford, it's a choice and glad that I have the freedom to choose.  Nice, very nice.  Enjoy your shoes, however they may appear...   smile...  sf

  2. Yes, nice article.  I have always enjoyed wearing heels, maybe, just maybe it will become more main stream, someday.  I have noticed that since I began wearing heels in 1995, folks seem to notice and /or react less and that's a good thing.  I used to get stares, gawks, chuckles and even a comment or two (never negative), but the past few years I'm just another guy traveling through life in heels.  Kinda nice.  Or maybe I have just become more confident and don't really care anymore what folks think.  Smile...   sf

  3. Last Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) the electricity went off for almost 24 hours.  No phone, no net, no TV, not a single "luxury," to paraphrase the song from Gilligan's Island.  Honestly, it was like camping, I kinda liked it.  And I got reacquainted with my candles and flashlights.  Smile.....   sf

  4. Or, that I forgot I had them!!  Yesterday I was getting ready to go out to dinner and had planned on wearing a pair of heels that I wear all the time.  As I looked in my closet I saw a pair of kitten heeled sandals that I like but have not worn in ages.  I forgot that I had them.  Well, they were dug out of the closet and taken to dinner.  Gonna be out in them today as well.

Here is a pic.  They are a pair of nice looking, comfortable slip on sandals.

I'm not against getting rid of "stuff" but sometimes I forget about the nice "stuff" that I already have.  Maybe I have too many heels?  Naw...

    Have fun....   sf

  5. Blueparrot.....   Hey, go for it.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Over the years I have bought numerous pair of shoes (flats, heels, you name it) that just did not work out for lots of different reasons.  It is good to have choices and opinions.

    Have fun...   sf

  6. Hmmmm....  Interesting.  Out of curiosity I took a look at their website (versa shoe.com)....  The home page addresses their convertible shoes - heels to flats - but when you go to the shopping page, they list 7 styles, none mention the convertible heel style, and list minimal information about the shoes.  There is no size selection choice either.  When an item is selected and placed into the "cart" it simply shows the shoe, and still no size selection.

Something ain't right here.  Nice idea I guess, but marketing (or lack of) is everything.

It sez the company is United States based, but I bet it has something to do with red china....

Take a look and see what you think...  Smile....  sf

  7. Pretty much all my life I have regularly worn gals shoes, wearing heels since 1996.  I often have wondered how many times folks really notice, not that I care, since I wear heels because I like it, NOT to be noticed.

This video confirms for me that obvious things go virtually unnoticed by many.  At least I got the number of “passes” correct.  See how you do, have fun.   sf

  8. 90 degrees south, now that would be interesting, and fun....   I was at the Arctic Circle (66 North) in AK a few years ago, the wife was looking for the "line" marking the circle, I thought she was kidding, sadly not.  ha ha...  The stars are all different at those high latitudes.

A riddle:  You are in a house, all the walls face south.  A bear walks by, what color is the bear?  Should be easy given the earlier "hints."

  9. Why is it the Center of the World?  The San Andreas earthquake fault passes thru this area.  The San Andreas is a major fault system that bisects California and divides the Pacific and the North American tectonic plates.  Scientists have conclusively proven that at this exact point on the fault system, there exist tectonic, and geophysical forces, along with sub-atomic relativities that form a lateral vortex creating a focal zone of centricity found nowhere else in nature.....  Naw...

Actually it is a self proclaimed creation by a French gentleman, Jacques Andre Istel and his wife Felicia Lee who founded the town in 1986.  There is no scientific or political reason for the designation.  Mr Istel is a legacy parachutist and author who apparently has an affinity for history, culture, science and all things on earth.  He built his "town" and was able to convince the Imperial County Supervisors and well as others to designate his town as the "Center of the World."  Good for him, but unfortunately he is incorrect, my residence, about 150 miles distant IS actually the Center of the World.

Nonetheless an interesting place to visit, in the wintertime, it gets really, really hot there in the summer.  And it was a fun place to wear heels!!  Have fun....  sf

  10. The past few days, while out traveling I had occasion to visit the official "Center of the World."  It is an interesting, and little known "monument" in the small town of Felicity, California (population 2) in the desert west of Yuma, Arizona.  The location has actually been proclaimed the Center of the World by resolution of the Imperial County Supervisors as well as the Government of France.  It was still warm in the desert - 90 degrees - and I was the only person visiting on this day.

As I wandered around looking at the displays and imagining the dedication, research, planning and cost that went into this project I was approached by a caretaker, she and her husband built the place.  She was very friendly and informative and gave me a mini tour even tho the place was still closed for the summer - they "officially" open on December 1st.

We spent about 20 minutes together and when we parted, she said with a smile , "I really like your shoes."  I was wearing my kitten heels sandals (see attachment), a pair that I have had for a while and really enjoy wearing.  She asked if they were comfortable - they are - and asked if I wear them all the time.  I told her that I am one of "those" guys who like gals shoes and enjoy wearing heels.  She said that she also likes heels, but has never seen a guy in heels but can fully understand why I would enjoy wearing them.

I told her that wearing gals shoes is something I have done for years, it is just a choice that I have made in my life.  She told me that I looked great and we all should do what makes us happy in this short time on earth, the Center of the World included.

A link to the place is below if anyone is interested.

  11. Great news and excellent marketing!!  About 10 years ago I purchased two pair of Steve Madden sandals (size 11, and they ran large, at least back then) that I still have, they are comfy and fit perfectly.  A few years later it was impossible to find Steve Madden shoes in larger sizes, good to know that may be changing.  Wonder if the same marketing plan will carry over to the United States.

As an aside, I have had great luck with larger size shoes and sandals from Marmi and Nine West.  Nice looking, high quality sandals both...

    Have fun....   sf
