  1. In my case, Histiletto, not at all. In fact my feet are a bit swollen when I get up in the morning, than in the afternoon. At least that's what I can read from my girl's shoes and my boots.

  2. The conversation moved on to her suggesting that I try hers but I suggested that it might be better if I got my own. As a consequence she agreed to helping me buy a few pairs of heels for my self. She likes one pair that I chose so much though that she's claimed those for herself. I may have to get a second pair.

    Great, Toby! Wonderful news, man.

Keep us posted on what you two do!

  3. 1) being consistent. No cheating to yourself.

    2) moderation. You don't want to wish to quit, collapse, relapse, regret.

    3) persistence: focus on the invisible 12 month goal. Track progress in excel.

    4) drink >1gal water per day

    5) no potatoes, white pasta, white bread, white rice. But I eat everything else.

    6) when there is a choice between high fat and low fat, take low fat

    7) reduce portion size by 1/3rd

That's a good list. If I quit flower and alcohol, I can loose weight dramatically. Maybe, being modest, 1kg per week.

  4. Benno, the booties are awesome. Amazingly well crafted, and the heels, although not the highest I have, are impressive. I also read the comments on the Wang booties, never the less I had to have them. Fortunately I found them 55% off. I have a high arch, and the insole supports it very well. The strange thing from this booties is that the toes are not resting on a flat surface but remain slightly leaning forward. It's a weird feeling, it's like you would slip from the toe box, which you can't because it's a closed toe shoe. I wasn't able to measure the difference between the ball of the shoe and the toe cage, but I'm sure there is a slight difference and the toes are lower the ball. Any way, they have padding inside which makes them easier to walk than if they were a hard inside. I've also used some padding on other shoes to help support my arch and it feels much better and less tiring. Thanks for your reply.

  5. Size 42, yes!

I bought them in a shop in the us.

My husband got a look of pain on his face when I asked what the cost.. :irked:

It would be more painful for me not to see those on my wife's feet.

Sadly she wouldn't use more than 4" w/o platforms. And, well, she has the same feeling as your husband about the price. I'm usually the one that spends in this type of things.

Strange what you mentioned about your Alti's having different heel heights. But, maybe, it's because they hand crafted!

  6. I almost grew up in Bariloche, Happyinheels. We used to go there in summer -December, January and part of February-; and almost all July or August in winter. I've skied the whole place, in and out of tracks, walked the peaks to get some fresh untouched snow... Blacks, reds, blues and greens... any thing goes for me. Now carvins are short skies but I used many years 205cm GS skies, even on bumps. I've skied in other sites, but I feel -despite the nasty weather- this is the best place to go in South America. Actually I met my wife skiing in Las Leñas. If you think of giving it a try, just let me know!

  7. Maybe not quite the shoes you take a long walk in...

pierced, I bet they are not for long walks. Pigalles aren't either. I can stand and walk for some time on them but wouldn't more than 200yds with them. They are like pieces of art!

My CL Decollete 868 are pretty comfortable with 11.5cm heels.

Those Louboutin Alti 160s are just awesome!!:irked: I love the Pigalle and the Pigalle with litlle platform too. Effectively they are about 5"/12.5cm high as most other designerheels are 'only' 4-4.5" high if you count the heel minus platform... I think even the Daffodile heels aren't full 5" due to the big platform, but I love those too! Was great to see Victoria Beckham on them while pregnant whole day long on the royal wedding! Respect!

What are effectively the highest designerheels currently? anyone knows? These Pigalles/Alti/ some heels of GML or Brian Atwood, DiMarni maybe? Any designerbrand/celeb spotted with heels higher than 5" effective heelheight?

Where did you buy these and how do they walk actually? Already went outside/walk in town on pavements etc?

    Roberto,

Louboutin standard heel measurements are based on size IT37. That would be a French 38. So a 120 in large sizes can be much higher.

I have CL Pigalle 120 in 41 1/2. They are 13.5cm high, with a sole of 0.7cm which and the inner height of the heel is 14.6cm making the true hight 13.9cm (5 1/2"), actually.

I also have BA Nico 120 are 12.6cm high on the outside and 13.5 on the inside with a sole of .5 which leaves 13cm (5 1/8") high.

The Pigalles are, for certain, the steepest heels I have; although not the highest. What I can say is they are not the most difficult shoes to walk in I have. The Alexander Wang booties and the Sarkany Bet are much worse even though they are is 2cm lower. Maybe this is because they carry platforms.

The sky high Loubotuins can be found online at CL's US site, at net-a-porter, or at My Theresa. Watch it because they don't deliver to every country.

I hope I've answered some of your doubts.

  8. Happyinheels. Just for the record. I used to have problems with my left foot as my right foot used to be slimmer than the left one. That was until 35/40 years old. Now my left foot has grown a little bit wider and I have the difference otherwise. This might be because I've had stricken more my right foot -specially the knee- than my left one. As a skier, my left foot has always been a nightmare with ski boots, and the right one was never a problem. So, it seems time affects our body in many senses... not only in gaining weight and not being able to loose it so easily.

  9. Well, Benno, it seems I'm not the only one. Although I have to say if I use loose shoes I have more or less the same result through out the day. Any way, I see what happens. For sure -as I have many pairs of this particular brand- they are going to get stretched with some use. I have another pair with 6.5cm that were tight for a week or so and now they are just perfect.

  10. Yes, Steve. That's a good idea. I was thinking of using oil or some kind of stuff like that to soften the leather and enable it to stretch faster. As a matter of fact, I've done that a with other boots and it worked great.

  11. Well, the story is I bought them around 4/5 PM, and tried them on. They fitted and with some exercise -braking in, I mean- they would feel like a glove: perfect in length but tight on the sides. Next morning, when I tried to put on the taller pair, I struggled and couldn't get them in. I was pretty pissed off because I had to go back to the store and change them, so that same evening, before heading to the store, I tried them on and I could put them on without struggling. As a matter of fact, today I had the same experience. And right now (11PM) I have them on. I hope I will not struggle tomorrow morning as it would be great to use them for an whole day so they loosen up. So I must assume the rule, at least for me, works the other way round.

  12. And as you've said Majo, it's best to try them on at the end of the day when your feet are biggest.

    Well, that's the point.

I try them on in the morning: they are snug.

I try them on the evening: they fit well.

At least for me, that statement works the other way round.

  13. Recently I've had a weird experience, but I recall that it's not the first time it happens to me. Usually, the buying tips say you should try shoes or boots in the evening rather than in the morning as your feet tend to swell at the end of the day. This past weeks I've been looking for every day tall boots, low heel -1.5" or less-; specially when I have to go into grasslands or non-paved surfaces where heels can be a draw back. As men boots here are quite ugly, or too casual -they look like sneakers-, for my taste; or I have to go to Polo/equestrian boots which are uncomfortably expensive -from u$600 to u$1200- I decided to go to the ladies stores where large sizes fit me reasonably well. The point is I went at the end of the day, so I could try them and be sure that I wasn't going to regret them because they ended up to snug. The fact is that, they fitted well in length, but tight on width. Bought two pairs, one with zips on the back and the other ones, taller and with a zip on the side. When I tried them on next morning... the tall ones were just impossible to get them in. The other pair, the shorter one, were snug but fitted; and I had been wearing them all week so the leather -which is also thinner- had stretched. I was going to return the tall ones today, but gave them a try yesterday night and they fitted as they did in the store. Well... recalling other pairs of heels and boots I have, I realized that this is not the first time it happens to me. Has anybody had a similar experience?

  14. Well... as a good french, he is a trendsetter, jejeje. I suppose he should show the heel instead of using elevators. There are plenty of ladies' heels which pass well as male footwear.
