  1. christine c9, There are several Australians in here; so pretty much they can speak for themselves. I told my wife before marrying about my 'issue' with heels. She was very tolerant -and young- and, though didn't encourage me to use heels, she didn't argue when I bought the same pair of 8cm suede pumps she had on my size. As a matter of fact, I tried them at the store. Those were beautiful shoes, really feminine I must say. Heels weren't too high at that time. In fact it was difficult to get anything close to 4". I could say they were like buying 11.5cm today. I suppose it was just a fashion issue. I used them in front of her sometimes. One day she said she didn't care that I used them, but she wasn't comfortable with me using heels in front of her. We talked a lot about the heels... and she knows I have quite a collection. She likes most of my boots, although says she wouldn't use them because they are too high. She also has seen some of my pumps or sandals. I've never betrayed the agreement -never in front of the kids- we made when our first child came; so we never went out both on heels -me with block heels, I mean- because the house is always with them around, even though they two of them are in college right now. Maybe, if fashion changes, she will be accept the deal; or, maybe, when kids fly away she does. Anyway, she is not too eager in using anything over 4" as she gets taller than me. So, I guess the only answer is: "it depends". It depends on your likes and dislikes. It depends on how you feel about it when you see them for the first time. It depends on how much you care of your SO. It depends on the trust you have between each other. Majo

  2. Regen, sorry for the delay getting the pictures. I finally had to take some new ones. In the first picture, the left boot is my wife's and the other is mine. Those two perfectly pass as male boots; they have 6cm (2.3") heel approximately. As a matter of fact, the heel on my wife's boot is very similar to those used by Argentine gauchos in horse parades. The boots on the second picture are ones I also use when going out, they are 4". And the two last picture are of the right pair in the second photo. When looked from an angle, two or three (6-10ft) meters from the user they pass and don't call for attention. If you look at them from the floor, they do, of course, as any shoe would. If the heel was thinner, maybe, they would look more feminine. I've been heeling with those boots and no one paid too much attention to me. I hope my point is clear.

  3. Thanks, Bern, for the compliments. I've never seen another guy in heels here. Gauchos -cowboys- use 1.5" cuban heeled boots with ruffled shafts that go up to the calves or half way to the knees, when dressed for parades or so; but I believe those don't count. There are some guys from Argentina in the forum, though. I haven't seen them active for quite a while.

  4. Lovely purchase! Would you please tell us what size you ordered and overall fit? Love the color as well! I would go for a pair of these myself. Thanks for posting the pics, they look great on you!

Yes, they are size 41 and fit perfectly, although there is little arch support in them. I found them in EmphaticNYC which is a online outlet.

  5. A good example I have experienced is, at one time at a restaurant with at the time was my GF a quick thinking mother responded to her little boy yelling out that I was wearing "her" shoes in front of every body. She quickly replied, "oh no honey, that's what we call fashion." :)

Well, well, well... that's a good open minded mother!

I wish there were more of those around -F & M-.

This world would be a better place surely.

  6. It's true that there are some clothes or accessories that are more feminine than others. I use heels outside that are unisex. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't stop buying footwear or other things that are more feminine. I would still buy Atwood's, Louboutin's -God, those Twistochats are sooo beautiful-, Manolo's, Zanotti's, Lorenzi's, or any of the shoes I posted today which are really feminine. I usually dress in a manly way: my body is not slender at all. So I wouldn't go out on a catsuit or a soiree gown that marks my curves because I feel it's not a style that makes me look better. If I was thin like many guys I know, and my proportions were more straight and not so triangular, it would certainly use outfits like Heelguy uses. If I had a more androgynous appeal -and wasn't married-, my closet would be, for sure, half and half. That doesn't mean I'm a cross-dresser: I don't want to pass as a woman. I like the feel of the fabrics on my skin; and male's outfits are always a drawback in this sense.

  7. :wavey:Do I own more women's shoes then men's? People! We are going at it wrong here... I don't own any women's shoes so the question should be do I own more heels then flats?

    Yes I do.:)

Of course, Hoverfly... the moment you buy them they are no more women's shoes! I supposed he meant taken from the women's rack.

  8. Sorry I didn't post any pictures of my Missoni pumps. I'll do so shortly. Today I went to several stores in BA. Tried a couple of boots and booties and finally bought these. As usual, some of the clerks are fine and helpful; others just rather uneased. I have the silver ones in black patent, but I'd rather have them in leather. The other pair is very similar to others I have except for the bun. We are in sales season so, maybe, I'll get a couple of things more.

  9. For me, knee high, 4" to 5" heel. Heel is not a real deal for me: blocks, classic style, stilettos, odd shapes, etc. It depends on the style of the boot itself. I prefer mid-shaft zips on the side to slip in, or full length zips. I have some back zips, like the latter CL Babel -which to die for and a sheer must, I should say- but they are quite unpractical getting them on, and they are quite loose if you go for a larger number.

  10. Can you give an example of such a heel that passes well as male footwear?

Regen, you may just start with cowboy boots. I've changed my notebook so I don't have all my pictures with me yet. I have some pair of boots and booties which are perfect men footwear, and even my wife has some which are so too.

...not the ones on my avatar or my missonis, for certain.
