  1. @Pierre1961

A belated answer to your question back from August last year.

A couple of weeks ago, I received a pair of the 7 inch pumps from Bedheels.  http://www.bedheels.com/shoes-and-boots/classic-court-shoes

    I paid with PayPal.

They were a custom order of real leather upper, red soles, etc. so 2 weeks from order to delivery wasn't bad at all.  The automatic communication by email once the order was placed was very good, although I didn't ask them any questions.

The shoes look terrific, and have some nice features, but I also had some minor issues with them.

First of all, the brand name that was printed on the insole was "Bitch Heels."  As I don't really consider myself a bitch in either perjorative sense of the word, so that was a little off putting, but that's their target market I guess

The quality of the real leather upper was very good.

I liked the look of the shiny black insole, but I would have preferred leather or porous insole as the patent material stuck to my skin, necessitating the wearing of stockings to slide my toes in.

They came with a short covered platform, a style for which I love the comfort as well as the look.

I appreciated the thoughtful firm padding around the toe box.

The "blood red" sole is much darker, closer to brown than say Louboutin scarlet.

When I tried to stand in the shoes, I found that the shank flexed easily upon pressure from the heel.  That's the part of the sole between the heel and the toe box.  That part usually has a flat metal rod to keep it as rigid as possible.  I wasn't expecting the shank to flex so easily.

In Suzanzibar's now-deleted ballet heel walking tutorials, she recommended ballet boots that come with flexible shanks/heels in her ballet boots or modifying them to be more flexible as they aid her in walking, so I'm wondering if Bedheels use those flexible shanks for that reason?

In any case, I can barely stand up in these shoes, let alone walk in them, which is more a function of my own lack of skill and flexibility than any fault in the shoes themselves.

  2. @spikesmike  Ableman is one of those legendary places that I wish I'd ordered something from before they disappeared.  Thanks for posting those!  Hey, I was reading in an old thread that you still had their marketing materials.  I love reading that type of vintage stuff.  Is there any chance you could scan them in and post them somewhere for posterity, with your name/address blocked out, of course.

@Jkrenzer  Those pumps look well loved, and in great shape.  I'm all the more determined to get something from Italian Heels some time this year.

  3. I was going to reply to that thread, but I saw it was in the girls' section.

It's a matter of respect to stay out.  Girls really do need their own space, as much as us guys need ours.

It's really easy to carelessly reply to entries in the "All Activity" lists because it doesn't filter the girls section from the guys.

I would like to own ANY pair of Christian Louboutin boots, but alas, my shoe size is too large. (sigh)

    I hear ya.

I wear a size 42 in flats and Louboutins go up to 42.

But size advice on Nordstroms and elsewhere say that Louboutins run one size small.

    Argh!

But my pocketbook is relieved ;-D

  5. Problem #1 is that you're browsing eBay which is just flooded with cheap Chinese/Pleaser/Ellie junk.  Even if you're filtering to say, North America, you still get re-sellers who are maybe sock puppet accounts for Chinese makers.

Try a specialty website like Zappos, or your favorite makers' websites, or even just google for what you want like "size 14 black patent pumps with 6 inch heels"

Websites for tall women often have resources for large size shoes too like this one:  https://www.tallwomen.org/footwear/

Problem #2 that I see is the size inconsistency with Chinese heels.  It's not just Chinese heels.  Sometimes especially with 4 inches or higher heels, you have to go up one size, but sometimes not. That inconsistency is with all manufacturers everywhere. I'm looking at you Louboutin.

The Chinese makers on aliexpress actually have pretty detailed measuring instructions on each model.  Sometimes I'm a 43, sometimes a 44.  Just follow directions.

  6. @Puffer EU customers always seem to get higher prices compared to U.S. customers. At least that's the case with videogame prices because that's what I'm most familiar with.

Not sure why that is. Maybe the extra fees that credit card banks charge for foreign exchange, maybe EU hidden taxes.

  7. Under or around $13K now.  Briefly under $12K today.

So at what point would you be worried?

I mean an investment implies that at some point, you will cash out, hopefully for a profit.

If you play futures, then if it's on a downwards slide, you should sell short to make money.

It's not just BTC, all CCs had large drops/selloffs

  8. I'm curious about wearing a pair of CLs, and if they fit that would be great.

But I hear they run narrow or 1 size small, so that would be one size smaller than my size 42/44 feet.

Fluevogs also look really interesting, but their designs lean towards goofy.  If they came out with a decent fetishy heelless boot in my size, I'd grab it in a flash.

  9. I think I still have my first pair of JC Penney 925 patent kitten heel mary janes.  They were still a pain to buckle the straps.

edit:  I bought them in the early 80s.
