Well @JeffB, I’ll throw myself in that boat as well. I originally only considered knee and thigh boots, thinking rarely about ankle boots.

Like you, as my interests have progressed/changed over time, I’ve become more curious about how I could style a pair of ankle boots to make them work on an outfit.

If I‘m being honest, it’s been your adventures with them that have helped me decide I really can pull off a look, so thank you!

The pleasure is all mine. I’m glad that my outings spurred you towards wearing ankle boots.

Yeah Williamsburg is way more fun than Manhattan.  More creatives, early adopters, artists, in BK for sure.

....also thinking I might switch up my pants for leather pants or some Wolford tights next time.   Tights with a subtle, classic design.

A shame those boots only go up to size 11. They look sharp, even to me despite my current passion for ankle highs.

  3. In the beginning of my journey as a fashion freestyler, I'll admit to not having been a fan of ankle high boots as I just didn't like the lack of short height or their overall styling. As a heeler, I was all about knee boots, then thigh highs (thanks to thighbootguy), but ankle highs were low on my boot pecking order. However, over time, that mindset changed as I came to first appreciate, then like how ankle highs worked well with skirts and dresses, suddenly, I was wearing ankle highs more and more, and in different styles: spike heeled, block heeled, wedge heeled and in colors like black, tan, taupe and gray, pairing them either with hosiery, leggings or going bare legged, and all three options look good on me. Of late, when it comes to boots, I've been wearing ankle highs exclusively, the style appeals to me greatly and I rarely wear anything else. To anyone who might be on the fence on ankle highs, give them a try, chances are you'll come to like them like I do.

Well a pair of new to me ankle boots arrived yesterday, and now that the in-laws are gone, I had a chance to try them out with one of my new sweaters. What do you all think?

Very nice. The tan color of the boots nicely contrasted with the rest of your outfit. Well done!

  5. Took this picture while downtown yesterday. Of all the Payless locations I visited over the years, and I had been to more than a few, the store near the corner of 16th and Chestnut Street in center city Philly was the one I shopped in the most, and I bought a lot of shoes and boots there. It's very sad to see this once favorite chain having disappeared from the retail landscape.

I have long done exercise meant to strengthen my feet and ankles. I do most of my exercises with a golf ball. I started doing these exercises for reasons other than wearing heels, but I think they definitely apply to wearing heels.

A golf ball? How does that work?

  7. In retrospect, I’m surprised Payless didn’t just go the online only route like Radio Shack, Ritz Camera and Sharper Image, all of whom closed their brick and mortar stores to become internet retailers. I guess Payless was in such bad shape that a complete shutdown was the only option.

  8. The loss of Payless was, and remains lamentable. Not many brick and mortal stores carry size 13 which I wear, hell, most don't go up to 12 these days. Already I miss being able to go into Payless to peruse the aisles for shoes that catch my eye. Those were the good old days.
