Pushing the style: booties, hosiery & dress - that´s what this post is about :cheeky:

    ================

    Hi guys,

after some really busy weeks - lot of work, moving finally to Berlin and therefore decluttering my old apartment - I found some time to create a new post. Of course there could be more pics, but this post is only the beginning.

Inspired by JeffB I was looking to push my style a little bit to a more feminine look. Some weeks ago, I had the great opportunity to buy two items from Rad Hourani. His designs are genderless. I always liked his creations and also already had some items, but when I got the chance to buy a trench coat and a dress, I had to spend the money on this two amazing items.

The trench coat is a killer item. Amazing quality and very good to combine. I am mixing it with sneakers & skinny black jeans for daily wear, but also a litte more edgy with chunky booties. So this is my first style:

    rad2.JPG

It is what I would call these days a "feel good style". Easy to walk in heels, 100den hosiery and it brings up the concept of genderless style very good. I had already some outings with this style and I have to say, that wearing things you like and that gives you a "wow feeling" is a key to push your limits & your style.

After getting used to this basic look, I wanted to make the look a little bit more edgy. Basically I am so in love with the dress and the coat, that the only thing would be, to make the look a little bit more "sharp" was to give it a little bit of feminine touch. When I was shopping two weeks ago wearing this outfit, I went to one of my preferred shoe shops and the sales assistant - who already knows me - challenged me, when I told here that I was looking for some "upgrade" to my outfit.  The result: pointy booties with stiletto heel.

These booties from Ma&Lo are so easy to walk in. Like with the dress and the trench: spending some extra bucks is often the best thing you can do. Feeling in love with this booties, I left the shop and went to buy a pair of more transparent hosiery to match the new booties to the rest of my outfit. 50 denier was the right style and so I could finish my outfit.

Next thing? Going out and enjoy life.

The dress is gorgeous! The tights look great in the first pic. Pencil skirts and dresses are the ultimate look. Thanks for the pic, you have inspired me ♡♡♡

  2. Looking fabulous again, Jeff! I need to start wearing thicker tights as the weather has gotten cooler, and my skirt hem is closer to my knees :P The boots are a nice touch, and I love that colour skirt! I had a Zara one in that colour that I lent to a friend, I need to get that back from him this weekend! (he was the one in the black dress I was posing with when I was wearing my work skirt and that silly wig! :cheeky: ) Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

CAT: Thanks for your kind words!

RonC: I found your comments most interesting. Yes, I am all about the complete look these days from head to toe, I feel perfectly content wearing anything from flat sandals to five inch heeled thigh boots. To me, I more than likely would've lost interest in high heels if they were all I wore, evolving to wearing clothes and shoes has greatened my appreciation, and enjoyment for women's wear. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

TBH the shoes are just accessories to such a great outfit :cheeky: the shoes compliment the outfit. A pair of heels so outrageous it overpowers your clothes is not needed. Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

  4. Looks great! I'm wearing stockings now with my knee-length skirts, they keep me warm as the weather has turned that bit colder in the mornings and evenings. Not bad during the day. Well worth investing in some! They are practical for every day, too. Love the booties too! :cheeky:

TBG: Regarding your question about the art I had seen on Saturday, yeah, there were lots of stuff I liked, but wow, talk about expensive!

heelsrus2000 & bluejay: Thanks for the kind words on my latest outing and what I wore. Much appreciated.

No jaunts of late. Football? Bad weather? Or something else? I guess you're putting together something smart for autumn. Keep us posted :)

I like your  Sunday ensemble, with the shorter skirt much better. Nice color choice with the khaki skirt and the brown top. Since Labor Day has passed, I put my white skirts and white shorts, away for the season. On Friday and Sunday, I wore a black mini skirt 18" with a white polo (Friday) and a yellow polo (Sunday). I wore my new Bongo (Sears), "Stella", black bootie, sandals, with silver trim and 4-3/4" thicker heels. I carried a black cross body bag. I got several compliments from the ladies on my shopping trips. They all loved my new shoes and want them too. They were on clearance from Sears, for $17.99. I guess I lucked out, they had my size 11 in stock.

    Happy Heeling,

    bluejay

Sounds great, Bluejay. Do you have any pictures of your outfits? :)

Jaunt #333, 9/18/2016: Despite overcast skies, temps were mild enough to run a couple of errands before the day's NFL action, heading out to Springfield in a brown t-shirt, a tan 20 inch Old Navy skirt, the Payless "Margarita" low wedge slides in natural and a matching handbag. Nothing fancy, just a simple, thrown together outfit to do a little running around in, especially the shoes (which I also have in black) which were comfortable and easy to wear, and, like all the other slides in my collection, I enjoy wearing them.

My first stop was to Acme to buy a few odds and ends, no big deal. Stop number two was down the road to a CVS drug store to buy a newspaper as the supermarket was out and a bottle of lens cleaner for my glasses, while waiting in line, a man who turned around to smile at me and said, "I saw you in the aisles, and I think you have the most gorgeous legs I've ever seen".

I've always loved that skirt ♡♡♡ and the shoes are cute too. You have great pins so it's good to show them off rather than hide them in longer skirts. The look is more youthful, but not over the top. I'm not surprised that guy liked your ensemble.  Looks great, a nice change from the longer skirts of recent outings. Pencil skirts draw attention to our legs but are ery smart as well. You should try a calf length one as the weather gets colder. You'll love it, and will get so many  compliments.  Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

  8. Jeff, I  hope people's critiquing hasn't disrupted your jaunts as its been 2 weeks and the thread is calling out for another ensemble. You should try bias cut skirts. Sassy as a pencil but a flattering flare to the hem. There should be a few on ebay :) looking forward to your next jaunt :)

  9. Yes, this looks great, on fleek as the youngsters say :cheeky: these style skirts suit you, show off your legs rather than hide them away. It's not winter yet! And if winter strikes, thick tights are your friend. I see women my age wearing mini skirts, TBH the skirt isn't short and if you have the figure for it, show it off! I prefer my hem to be at my knee or just over it when in a pencil skirt, that looks very nice as well. Knee length is great for all ages. I even have a couple of 27 inch pencil skirts which I have worn from time to time. Age appropriate is fine, but you are as old as you feel. Someone with awful legs should wear longer skirts to hide bad knees (Caitlyn Jenner ) your overall image is so good you get no reactions because it blends in with other smartly dressed people. I wonder if the other fashion freestyler may have taken advice from your thread? :P

PS I love the haircut as well as the cute top ♡♡♡

  10. wow.. quite a change... you do you, hun!

I guess we'll be seeing a more female persona from you soon as well.

All the best - I will watch from the sidelines in puzzlement anticipation of what's worn next :P

Well, that certainly was an interesting theory you presented as it never occurred to me that I could be mistaken for a woman, or that I could present the image of one. Perhaps my insistence on wanting to look my best so I could blend in with surroundings could well trigger that "woman image" you spoke about and that passersby might accept me as female before putting me out of their minds and going about their lives. I'll admit to being intrigued, so I'll continue to live my personal principle as presented in my signature, I love dressing like a woman, whether or not I look like one is a subject open to personal interpretation.

I think in the pencil and shorter skirts the look is more masculine,  not sure if its skirt shape or more youthful length  but guys can clearly see you are a man in a skirt (and great shoes),  but I notice your accessories  (necklace etc) are more feminine when you don the "skirts for the older woman". That's just my opinion, and a lot of older women have short natural hair just like yours.

Why not try a skater skirt? They are not all extra short, I have a knee length one which is quite flattering :cheeky:

  12. It's a nice skirt but with the top and necklace I too saw a woman with short natural hair. I think the pencil skirts in denim / khaki give off a better look as a guy.

Still, looking forward to your next jaunt :cheeky:

    Jaunt #326, 8/22/2016: ...

After I ate, it was off to center city where I haven't been on a jaunt for awhile. It took nearly half an hour to find a parking spot, after I did, I headed to Rittenhouse Square Park to chill out for a time with my nook e-reader. While at a corner waiting on the light, a twentysomething young lady looked me up and down, grinned, then said, "I'm sorry to stare, but you've got great legs. Heck, you look better in that skirt than some women I know. And I love your sandals!" I grinned back and thanked her before we went our separate ways. It had been some time since I had been complimented on my attire, and today, I got perhaps THE ultimate compliment, that I looked better in a skirt than a woman. Wow!

Looks fantastic, Jeff! I have been avoiding white skirts for the same reason :P  I do have a khaki pencil skirt but that's as daring as I'm going to go :silly:

For some reason the reply function is not working so excuse the re post or quote.

You do look great in your ensembles, a look I am working towards as well.

Lookingforward to your next jaunt :)

TBG: Thanks for the kind words. I keep saying I'm going to invest in more jewelry but haven't gotten around to that yet, but I will. Ditto on the glasses, that's also a good idea. Meanwhile, it's one thing to get rained on which I don't like, but quite another to get rained on when it's muggy as sin. YUCK! I'm glad you enjoyed your restaurant outing, sounds like you had fun.

heelsrus2000: No reason to feel self-conscious unless you have a reason to feel that way. Always dress appropriately for your surroundings and have fun.

I didn't mind the stocking tops being seen, it was just the slit in my skirt was high and the skirt is one of those you have to keep pulling down when you've walked a few metres... but asidd from that, it was okay :)

  15. Lovely skirt, Jeff! Great ensemble as always! My frayed skirt snd 5 series will not further hijack your thread :nono::silly: I was paying a visit to my friend and felt a little self conscious of my skirt as the slit at the back was quite revealing and I was wearing stockings not tights, and felt a little exposed...  Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

Thanks for the comments, everyone. As for TBG, well, you can't please everybody. Heh!

heelsrus2000: Nice outfit. As for outdoor shots, that's not a priority with me, I just go out and about, nothing more, nothing less.

Ok... as you wish. No jaunts this weekend?  That's a shame :nono:

  17. Hey Jeff, you should try some outdoor shots - I took your advice and dressed a little bit more sensible (sorry to impose but you know I always do :) ) - I think denim suits you better than the last ensemble which adds 40 years to you...  Here's me visiting a mate, I wore my fave frayed hem Gap pencil with boots and tights as it was a little cold :silly:

Ever thought about a nice printed pencil skirt? I think you have the figure for it!

Still, looking forward to your next (denim skirted) jaunt :cheeky:

  18. Loving the bright red top! Really goes well with your skirt. Cute shoes as well. Love the patriotic red white and blue thing you have going on. I'm building my denim pencil skirt collection and my grey Zara one came today, a snug fit, just right for a trip to the shops. Was only popping out to get some tights so a quick trip. Need to take thd plunge and get some shoes like yours though! Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

  19. A smart look, Jeff! Simple, yet practical for a trip to the shops. I have decided to switch to denim pencil skirts rather than formal, and have ditched the wig :silly: waiting for my Zara grey denim pencil to arrive, then will take it for a spin :cheeky: Looking forward to your next jaunt :)

  20. I liked the look, I found comfort in it as you reminded me of this old nurse from Trinidad who used to look after me during my unfortunate  spell last year at Broadmoor Hospital. It was almost the same uniform, except you don't have a tazer and a huge set of keys on your belt :silly:

I think some may have mistaken you for an older lady with short hair, but what the hell. Go for a bodycon dress, you have the figure for it :cheeky:

That could certainly work. H&M put a male targeted skirt out for a while i believe.  I see guys shopping on the women's side of H&M and vice versa all the time. The trend for  males to wear women's jeans seems to be on the rise. Obviously the same thing exists for women as a lot of clothing get's marketed as "boyfriend jeans" or "boyfriend shirt" etc.

The "skirt" they put out was awful, like a poor man's kilt. Some strange reason designers keep integrating trousers or legging / shorts with the "skirt" which defeats the object of a skirt in the first place.  Some too are embarrassing  looking aprons which cover the crotch of badly made trousers , but at a high price. That's why I just buy women's skirts which cost a fraction of the price and generally fit better too! I have seen the "boyfriend" jeans, shirt etc but in London lots of guys are wearing extremely tight jeans that could pass for leggings and I am sure they are from the other side of the aisle :cheeky:
