  1. I just take a handbag, hell, I am already wearing a skirt! Nothing too flashy unless its to dinner, then it's a Chanel or Hermes, but I try to travel light, small purse / wallet, enough to get away with like car keys or spare pair of tights. Pockets ruin the shape of a skirt and makes my tummy or hips look lumpy if overfilled, such as a phone being in a pocket. Ladies' pockets are extremely small in skirts and just for show... :)

I don't think we have bullet trains here in the UK. Their natural habitat is Japan. in France they have TGV (Trains a Grand Vitesse) and near identical technology is used on the Eurostar trains that run through the tunnel.

We now have the Siemens Class 374 Eurostar (think is 180mph +) and for services to the Kent Coast are the new Hitachi 'Javelin' trains (150mph)

London's a very diverse city, but there's a lot to see and do :)

Stunning boots @SkirtDude - would love to get a better view of them, maybe from the side?
What brand and height are they?

They were new to me, not sure of the name. They are about 4 inch heel I think. A little tricky to walk in as I find a block heel more comfortable. Almost bust my ankle in a dash for the loo this morning. I have to master walking in them, but a very fem look. Might tone it down for more denim pencils...

  4. Wow :o lost for words - you're looking great in that skirt and the top is fantastic! I would struggle in those heels though myself, I need a block heel. You've inspired me to buy lighter coloured tights, lol... now I think Spring is here, I might try copy your ensemble :cheeky:

I bought the other one. But i do really like this skirt. Im gonna wait for the price to drop.

And on your other question i find that pantyhose works best for me. If you want further info feel free to message me.

Thanks for the advice, sorry for the inappropriate question, I will go with a size smaller tights. You might be able to find that Express skirt on ebay at a lower price, you never know (someone bought wrong size, store selling surplus stock etc.) ;)

I went back and bought the black and white skirt i was talking about. I went in wearing my supper skinny jeans plaid shirt and aldo heels.

The shirt im wearing doesnt go well with the skirt at all. But it went alot better with the jeans i wore into the store.. i also tried this other knee length skirt but didnt buy it as it was still $60

Please tell me this is the skirt you went and bought... :pulsingheart: Love it to bits, so sophisticated :pulsingheart:

Balletboots, I have a bit of an awkward question to pose... how do you get such an... erm lovely, flat front profile of your skirt? I've tried underwear a size smaller but still get a bit of an er, uneven profile unless the skirt is tight enough around my thighs  but I digress... I was hoping that isn't a nasty rash on your right ankle  might need darker tights :cheeky:

    Love the pumps too :)

So its been awhile. The otk boots i ordered back in december, were to big on my leg and kept slouching so i decided to return them. (Sorry no pics)

I didn't get around to returning them untill yesterday. Which was also my first time back out since before the holidays. I wish i made it out sooner but with the holidays and a new job this month ive been pretty busy.

But none the less i did get out to the mall wearing my aldo heels, very sheer black pantyhose, above the knee pencil skirt with a long slit in the back, paired with a button up shirt and my pea-coat.

I went to aldo and returned the boots and tried on a pair of black strappy platform sandals with about a 5inch heel. They were cute and comfy but i didnt really like the way the platform felt when walking so i moved on. The mall was pretty empty so i wondered around and went into all the womens clothing stores looking for anything that might catch my eye. Tried on a couple dresses that i thought would look good with a jacket over them but somehow talked myself out of buying them. Tried on some pants but didnt really like they way they fit. And i tried on a bunch of different skirts and im really drawn to the shorter mini skirts, i almost bought a black and white striped frilly layered mini skirt but thought i wont actually wear this... and now that im home im thinking i might go back and buy it.

Can't wait to get out again!

Short mini skirts are good for summer, unless you have thick tights for them... pencil skirts are sophisticated, sexy and practical, I like a generous slit at the back to show off my legs too, plus it's practical if it's a little tight :cheeky: stockings are a nice change from pantyhose too and look great with pencil skirts, I find them more practical too if nature calls as I hate the "tights dance" afterwards...

Looking forward to read the next instalment though a picture paints a thousand words :P

    Thanks @pebblesf

I went out today in my new maroon skirt and a black sweater, i got some more christmas shopping done and then got sidetracked in forever21 trying on some more skirts :P i also made it back into aldo since they were having a good sale. Ended up ordering a pair of over the knee boots, i cant wait for them to come in! While walking around the mall a women in her late 30s came quickly walking all the way across the hall looking right at me saying "oh my god i love your outfit! and those heels are fantastic!" I smiled,  thanked her and kept on strutting my stuff through the mall :)

I don't understand how women can think its awkward to recieve compliments. Because i absolutely love it!

Loving this look, Balletboot! Such a lovely skirt, looks very cute. Love your pumps as well, but for me it has to be boots in this weather :P

So very true.  When I am out in Chicago on display in front of a million people shopping and dinning with them on Michigan Ave hardly anyone notices.  I stayed at a hotel a couple of weeks ago with my GF for a weekend getaway wore leggings and boots or this outfit right out of the hotel to shop and dinner, the few that noticed said I looked awesome or fantastic outfit.

Jeff, I too was confused by this post until I saw the July 29 post by SkirtDude in this thread. In it SkirtDude, aka "the Brit", posted two pictures, in the second there is a NBC 4 logo.  I hope that clears it up.

Hey, just to clear up any confusion, that's not me... though I dig the outfit ♡♡♡ This is Warren Evans of Calvert High School, in Frederick, MD who got suspended for wearing a skirt to school in 2012. I had a rummage down the back of the internet and found his picture. I thought perhaps Jeff could hire a cameraman for his trips around the shopping mall if there's difficulty taking outside pics that include his skirt and shoes :P The story made it across the Pond thanks to Mail Online, many were supportive of Warren. The UK is becoming more open minded, so walks in skirts and heels by men barely raise an eyebrow. Eddie Izzard campaigned for the Labour Party in a pencil skirt suit, with pumps or boots. He campaigned across the country in his skirt suit ♡

Only the small minded will yell something, usually in the safety of a group or passing car.

We get CNBC in the UK, along with Fox on cable or Sky (satellite) TV ;)

  11. I love the earrings! Can't wait to see your printed skirt. I've just been shopping and bought two more pencil skirts for work, one in lilac which I might wear with a similar colored blouse (though am at a loss as to what color tights I should wear), booties (summer has gone abroad in the UK :( ) and might treat myself to a new bag. The other skirt was a gray one with a check design, but not plaid.

I like your top as well. Did you pierce your ears or are those clip-on earrings? ;)

SkirtDude: Thanks for the kind words. Perhaps I'll consider outdoor pictures, just as a change of pace. Darn, I just noticed the early pictures from my thread are gone, and no, I absolutely will NOT pay Photobucket's $400 ransom! That's insane!

No worries mate... there may be a way to still log onto your Photobucket account, save all your earlier pictures (right click, save as) then switch to a site like imgbb., or just upload them here :) I like reading of your jaunts, but pics outside will add more weight to the accounts and encourage others to get out there in public freestyling / heeling and that nothing bad is gonna happen! Full length pic of your ensembles rather than just the top half! Lookbook pages are also worth a look in :cheeky:

Well, like most people, I just go about my business while out in public, and most people don't bother taking time to snap pictures, which is why I do my photography indoors before I head out. However, I'll see what I can do about taking a few outside pictures.

It could be one more way to push the envelope if you connect with shoppers as you go about your business to take a full length pic of you in your fabulous skirts including the cute shoes... I'm sure other women will only be too happy to oblige, especially ones that might comment on a nice purse you have or other accessories, such is becoming common in your jaunts. In this age of Lookbook, selfies and Instagram, I'm sure the twentysomethings will only be too happy to oblige to help with a selfie. (You dont need a dedicated camerman like this guy... love his skirt and shoes!) Will we see Sunday Best and you in a smart blouse and midi pencil skirt or are there other surprises in store? :P  BTW your earlier pictures from 2008 have been removed by Photobucket in their bizarre "Pay us $400 first to see them" subscription campaign :( I dropped them and found a free hosting service.

Looking forward to read of your next jaunt, you are a source of inspiration always ♡♡♡

Same here. I'm perfectly happy with how I present myself in public.

Regarding hair, it's enough to have any at all, given my age. Heck, I'm surprised I haven't started going bald!  :giggle:

Jaunt #384, 7/25/2017: An empty toner cartridge on my printer lead to yesterday’s brief outing. You see, my cousin is a landlord for a couple of properties and she has me print out leases for new tenants, well, I was tasked with printing a lease but wasn’t able to do so because my toner cartridge ran out of juice. Since I promised her a lease, I had to go to a computer store in the sticks to buy a replacement, so I decided to turn that into an outing, garbed in a light purple tank top, a dark denim miniskirt, yet another new pair of flat sandals from Payless, they being the “Sunni” in black and gold along with a black handbag.

    ...

Once again, there was no hesitation about the outfit, I simply put on clothes, MY clothes and went about my business like everyone else, and that’s what makes what I do lots of fun, and isn’t that what freestyling is all about? Lastly, my cousin was pleased with the lease I printed out for her after I got back home. More to come....

Looking great as always! "Sunni" seems a controversial name for sandals, though I've got a pair of their "Shia" ones at home in silver :P  What did your cousin think of your outfit? I think it looks very smart, and I LOVE the purple top! I wish toner carts weren't so expensive. Be warned that the cheap refills can burst and wreck your printer :o

Looking forward to your next jaunt :cheeky:

  15. Looking great! Congrats on the weight loss! You'll find that the cuter skirts are in smaller sizes, I'm lucky enough to be a UK10 (US size 6?), so there's loads to choose from ebay :P

That's a nice casual outfit as well. You never mention stares as much as before, so fashion freedom must be common in your part of the world! :cheeky: I've always like the frayed hem skirts. I need another grey denim skirt you've inspired me to get looking for one

Did you pierce your ears or are they clip-ons?

SkirtDude: The anxiety tends to come from not knowing what we'll encounter while out in public, and those imaginary fears leads to the skittishness that people pick up on. However, by displaying calmness and confidence, perhaps even a blasé attitude helps us get by while freestyling, and that's important.

nzfreestyler: I've come to take every aspect of my appearance seriously, and that includes making sure my accessories look right. But, I'm still learning what works and what doesn't, it's an ongoing process.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I will employ the blase attitude more while I am out and about freestyling. I am sure you have another jaunt planned with a fabulous skirt :)
