  1. So even though I didn't get to buy the pair I'm really happy with my experience.

    Terrific!

That's been the experience of many of us here on the board, that most others really don't care.

I went shopping for groceries in 3-3/4" Franco Sarto loafers. Two people noticed, but there wasn't a hint of body language of "what the..." which indicated disapproval in the slightest manner, and one of the people who noticed was a woman I was talking to in line at the checkout, and she didn't change her patter one bit after she noticed - she kept right on going with a friendly Tscusch! (spelling?) as she went to her car and I went to mine.

  2. You know, thinking back, I have memories of wearing my grandmother's heels around the house. She had much smaller feet than my Mom, about size 4, so when I was around 7, they fit perfectly. They weren't much, about 2 inches. It was a couple years later, when I was around 9 that I ran across my neighbor's size 5 stash of high heels (3 and 4 inches) that caused me to spend a full fifteen minutes feeding their fish every day while they were on vacation for two weeks... I didn't fit into my Mother's size 9 heels until I was in the 7th grade. By that time I was a latchkey kid and my brother was in high school, so I had an hour and a half of personal time during which I wore her heels after school. After that, I hit puberty and didn't look back at the heel issue, at all, until well into college, when, on a whim, I bought the only pair of heels in a store in my size, a pair of off-white leather pumps with a four-inch heel. I hid them from my roommates for the next two years, and, ashamed, threw them out just before graduation. I didn't wear another pair of heels for more than a decade, until desparate to relieve an old ankle injury, I turned toward's elevated shoes but decided they were way too expensive when Payless carried $12 cheapies that worked just as well right around the corner. I've been heeling ever since!

  3. I'd have to agree with Fog on this one. Bankers understand finances and how playing around with interest rates is very dicey business. Many politicians don't. That's why those decisions are/were made by Greenspan for the US. After 911, his fiscal recommendations for the Fed rate averted rather significant financial catastrophe.

  4. And wouldn't it look nice, DawnHH, for him to drive up in one of his monstrous beasts and step out wearing a pair of three inchers which match whatever outfit he's wearing? I'm not "into" Cussler that way, if you get my drift. I'd simply like it if someone with some pull in Hollywood (other than Jason Ritter) were to show up one day wearing heels (and not stupid blue pumps, like Jason did). There's been a few, but it's been seldom and few between, and often probably advised by their agents not to do that again if they knew what was good for their career. Sad!

  5. To be very honest, I dont think I will ever see the day where I will wander out in a busy street in heels. I am planning to go for a wander in the evening and have been working on a suitable outfit. I am waiting for the shoes to arrive. Once I have everything, I will post a pic.

Sometimes the best way for guys to wear heels is as a guy, not outfit at all, just a pair of long jeans and block-heeled boots.

It's certainly the least-noticeable heeled outfit I've ever worn, and have often shopped for heels wearing this.

I prefer to do my heeling in crowds, too. Nothing better than a crowded bar or club.

I spent New Years in heels at a local club. If anyone saw (not that I noticed), certainly no one cared. Then again, my heels were non-descript four-inch block-heeled boots beneath a long pant's leg, not a pair of pink stilletos beneath a miniskirt.

But if that's what float's your boat, go for it, and I wish you luck on the additional 213 minutes it takes to complete the look!

  6. Actually the best thing I have seen of late was on Good Morning America. (early morning US news) Nike Shoes has recently unveiled plans to make a line of heels (and traditional men's dress shoes) that integrate sneaker technology. The female hosts were all really happy when they got to try them. they all said its the closest thing to wearing sneakers and they look very stylish and just fantastic.

Wow! If they can do that in the larger sizes, I'm golden!

  7. So, in spite of the hollidays, I have been losing some weight...

    Good for you!

In preparation for the holidays, I began gaining weight. Nothing like starting early...

On a more serious note, I've seen many wonderful round-toed oxford and wingtip designs, but nothing larger than size 10 that didn't look like a pair of bedroom shoes from the leading plastic patent leather seller.

I've got a pair of Franco Sarto Nolans that I've worn around the world (literally, quite often while flying from one country to the next), but I'd really like a pair of good, solid, stacked-leather heeled wingtips or oxfords that look from the pant hem down like they're made for men.

  8. I dunno, Guy. The US has grown more successful compared to other countries as powers have migrated from the states to the federal government. I think a balance is in order, and I do believe that limit has been reached, if not exceeded. If that balance can be kept in check, with an officially recognized global economy, but powers strongly reserved to individual countries, I think things will be more economically stable in the long run.

  9. I think I'll let that last comment slide while the ladies go powder their noses. In the meantime, here's a primer for you, aimed squarely at the truth: Some folks can be a real heel sometimes, and that's just the way it goes!

  10. The noise !

No, matter how much you just want be blend in and not draw attention to yourself, there's also that sound that makes people look. Click Clack Click Clack.

Please make some Heels with noise killer:fine:

I'm with you, Pumps! While I enjoy wearing heels, I do not enjoy others noticing me wearing heels.

I took my two favorite pair to the cobbler to have them replace the hard plastic tip with one made of durable rubber. Result - they now make about half the noise as before, and instead of a clack, it's more like the thunk of a typical man's shoe.

  11. Well, I'd say that depends on where and when you go. Once I've worn thigh boots with four inch heels and didn't have a problem at all. What you'll find in your outings is that with precious few exceptions, ninety-five percent of the people you'll encounter are too wrapped up in their own affairs to notice or care about a man wearing heels, that leaves four percent who do notice but don't do anything more than double takes, second looks or long stares, finally the one percent who might giggle, chuckle, laugh or, in even rarer cases, say something derogatory, but I've found that to be very rare.

Much rarer these days than just five years ago!

  12. But New Years Eve gave Mickey and I a first chance in a long time to start back streetheeling with a dinner and the movie, "Casino Royale". Mickey says that I did well for not wearing heels out in such a long time. I need to get out more and practice more.

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

Awsome! And wasn't the new Bond every bit as good as the previous ones?

Personally, I think both Connery and Brosnan made better Bonds, but I'm not knocking the current Bond, as he's quite good!

Jeffb, glad to hear you encounter at the mall was positive.

While shopping for heels at DSW (discount shoe warehouse) during the holidays, I came across several younger salespeople who were not used to men looking for heels. They were good, though, and adapted rapidly (sometimes withing a few seconds) such that they treated me the same as they would any other customer.

  13. Yep! That's pretty much the gist of things here. Gaining height has nothing to do with why we love to wear heels. It's all about the enjoyment that comes from wanting to wear them, nothing more.

I tend to agree, as I'm tall enough without heels.

Will these questions do for you Lindsay

Those are definately some hilarious answers!

  14. How about the first weekend in September, which falls into labor Day Weekend. Not only is it marking the end of summer but then we would have a entire 3 day weekend to be seen in heels. If your busy with family stuff at least one of the three days would be doable for heel wearing.

    Thats my thoughts.

    ems8hh

I think it would be better during the spring, matching up with the London heelmeet.

Spring is always a catalyst for change...

  15. Would these boots be appropriate for the heel meet?

Let me know what you think.

    Thx.

Sure! Who cares what others think?

I'm not into latex, fetish, drag, crossdressing, transvestism, or other psychological terms.

    Psych terms suck!

I simply like wearing shoes, bottoms, and tops that appeal to me and in which I think I look fairly decent wearing.

If I can make it to the World Heel Meet, I'll be wearing what I like, without "breaking boundaries," and I hope you like wearing what you enjoy wearing, too.

  16. I hear you - I own five women's bracelets that look like men's jewelry. To date, none of my dates have questioned me otherwise, and I know quite a few very straight men who don't hesitate to shop in the women's jewelry department because they're tired of the incredibly thick, fat, bracelets which are available there. Manufacturers - get a clue. We're not all 350-lb hit men.

  17. Gunna wedge my way into this here conversation for a minute and ensure I post a few bullets which find their target, namely, why I keep aiming squarely at the right for everyone to wear whatever they want to wear. Nice shootin', Tex.
