Desire to buy own heels - Help Needed

Patent Heels

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I would welcome your collective experience and guidance on a couple of matters. First of all by way of background, I am a 41 year old married guy who has loved high heels for over 20 years, and I now feel ready to buy my own pair of black patent pumps. In the 80s my wife used to wear high heeled shoes all the time, and I guess that was enough for me then. She is slowly rediscovering heels again with the latest fashions, though over the years I have desired to wear my own shoes. My wife knows about my love for high heels, though she is not aware of my desire to buy heels for wear around the home. Therefore I cannot buy over the internet and have them delivered to my home, so I am seeking your help for locating 'friendly' shoe stores in the Yorkshire area where I can buy my shoes (size 9) without feeling too embarrassed. I am not certain that high street stores carry size 9s? Are there any other options available? The second request for help is a little more complicated, and I seek your wise counsel. Basically, I would like to wear my heels (once bought) for my wife, i,e. as part of our love making. I am not sure how she would react, any help on how to go about this would be much appreciated. Apologies for the length of posting, but thanks in advance for your guidance. Pete

Dr. Shoe is right. You need to tell her about you wanting your own heels and ask for her help in purchasing a pair for you. You said she already knows about your love for high heels so the battle is half over. If she does agree to help you, then you won't have any problem wearing them round the house or for any other purpose.

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

Hello PH! Best of luck with your activities! Regarding your question re. finding size 9 heels in Yorkshire, I will try and help, been a very long-standing size 9 street-heeling guy, although I live in Bristol. 1) RETAIL CHAINS SHOPS STOCKING SIZE 9 HIGH HEELS. These firms seem to have nationwide coverage, so I hope you have a branch near you: BRANTANO (stocks up to size 10) BARRATTS Most branches have a "Tall & Small" department going up to 9s and 10s. EVANS LTD. Goes up to 9s and 10s, but smaller branches do clothes only and not shoes. FAITH Mostly stops at size 8, but includes size 9 in a few selected styles (like the sexy "Sabrina", "Sky 2" etc.). However, be warned thaty their "9s" run a bit small. RIVER ISLAND Only goes up to size 8, but these are worth trying because some of their size 8s run a bit large and fit my size 9 foot. (Styles like "Deb", "Blower" etc.) 2) CUSTOM FACTORIES Failing the above, you can get your requirements specially-made or sometimes off-the-shelf from The Little Shoe Box or Leatherworks (both London) or Hayway (North). 3) SPECIALIST SHOPS FOR LARGE LADIES SIZES MAGNUS Chiltern Street, London. Sizes approx 8 to 12 (Catalogue available). ELEPHANTFEET, Brixton, London. Similar policy to Magnus but different selection. BIGFOOT DIRECTORY, Croydon. Similar, but selection shown on their website as well as to personal callers. NINE TO ELLEVEN, Surrey/Hampshire border. Similar with their selelection on their website. When using your search engine, note the double "L" in "Elleven". In the old days I found it virtually impossible to find size 9 high heels, but having now accrued the above knowledge, I am only to happy to pass it on if the will help you and other "Bigfoots" find what you are looking for. Incidentally, keep your eyes on the "Real Life Meetings" section from time to time, because during the spring we hope to have a special Heel-Meet for us UK "Bigfoot" members, when we will do the rounds and visit several of the above places. Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

Onwards and upwards!

as the owner of a pair of UK Womens 11/US womens 13 size feet, I'm envious of anyone that has UK Women's 9/US Women's 11 size feet luckily I can get Exotic Dancer/Fetish Plats as they go up to US 14 Women's size, but some people even have trouble fitting into those 14's! later, TXT-1

As so many of us have said you need to tell your wife NOW!

Sadly I cannot tell you how to make a marraige last BUT I DO know what it takes to wreck one and being deceitful heads the list!

As hard as it might be you need to tell her.

Do NOT just buy them & hide them where ever untill she discovers them

(and rest assured she will discover them)!

I have to concur with Anita Tell her, do it as soon as you have a chance...My wife found about my "secret" by accident and it was like opening a can of worms! However, after a long converstation and many, many questions things are back on a good track. It is easier to tell a bad news than to explain a discovered "hobbie"! pam

Hold on folks, this whole subject of "Telling her" is only starting to repeat the excellent thread "HELP COPING WITH WIFE!" which was very thorough and well-debated, and which is still fully readable further down on this "For The Guys" section. At this point, I suggest that everyone carefully reads that, which covers the whole issue very exhaustively. Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

First of all thanks very much for everyone's advice and input to my various questions. I really do appreciate that. Heelfan in particular, I did'nt realise that my question regarding broaching the subject of my buying and wearing of heels at home had been covered so fully earlier in the forum. I have had a quick look, and there is certainly alot of reading and plenty of good advice there for me to take on board. I am looking to buy some 4 inch black patent pumps (not sure the heel height was mentioned in my original post). I have checked the various websites offered as potential places to buy my shoes, unfortunately most of the suggestions don't supply such heels. Again can anyone help locate sother 'friendly' shoe stores in the Yorkshire or even nearby areas where I can buy my shoes (size 9) without feeling too embarrassed. Thanks Pete

Emma, do Desire have a website by any chance? I've had a quick Google for it but drew a blank. I'm not too far from Sheffield.

Chris

I think they still do (can't remember the URL but it was something not that obvious and as I recall, Google wasn't much help for me, either), but it wasn't up to much, last time I looked. No online shopping or anything.

What part of the world are you in, Chris?

All shoe stores are friendly when it coes to selling shoes. They don't care who they sell them too, so long as you have the cash and they are always very helpful. Your only problem is finding size 9. Barratts are doing a nice 4" pump up to size 10 in various colours. I can't remember if they do it in patent though. You could always get black and do the old army beeswax spit and polish routines whereupon even ordinary leather can be made to shine like a mirror.

Yes, I think that in black, the Barretts 4" stiletto court shoe is done in both semi-matt calf and in shiny patent leather (I've got the calf version!). That same style is also available in bright colours - blue, red, yellow etc. But any of these in a size 8 upwards are ONLY stocked by the particular Barratts branches which include a "Tall and Small" department. As far as suggestions though, I think we've pretty well exhausted the shops, and failing this it would be off to The Little Shoe Box or Leatherworks (both London) or Hayway (North) to discuss your needs with these specialist shoe-makers/retailers who can supply virtually any size, style and finish, some of them being available "off the shelf". Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

I'm in Derbyshire, near Buxton. I'm not overly bothered about the online shopping aspect, I just wanted to have a quick look at the kind of things they have on offer. Alternative Footwear is my usual port of call, but very few styles are available in leather.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi there, I have done it......I have found and bought a pair of stylish black patent pumps with 4 inch heels for myself. I went with a size 10 in the end, the 9s were too small. I have worn them for myself around the home a couple of times, and then hidden them from the wife. I appreciate the advice about telling her, i guess its finding the time and place before she finds the heels. The shoes do look nice on, and I am now coping to walk somewhat more elegently in them. Any help/tips to master the heels. Thanks

patent heels:your story virtually mirrors what i went through about 9 years ago (i am 35 now),although my marraige is now over,it had nothing to do with my heel wearing,if you are in yorkshire,i cannot hesitate to recommend evans,i know you are after pumps, but there are some riduculous bargains available if you are quick, have just bought three pairs of boots (retail value £215) for £85 from evans in stafford, two pairs of knee highs, one 2 3/4 inch blade heel, one 3 1/2 inch heel,& a rather cute pair of 2 inch kitten heel pointy two ankle boots,i should add that i am a uk size 10,a wide one at that!!!!! as for making love wearing heels i have experience of that also, will be happy to share my experiences via personal message if you think it will help! best of luck mate!

keen to meet other uk male heel wearers to try & boost my confidence to wear heels in public

Hi, Pete. One of the things you might consider is buying a mailbox for a short period of time (3 months). They're readily accessible in the states (don't know about the UK, though) via places like Mail Boxes, Etc. Cheaper (like half the price!) places exist in the larger cities. Once you get that, place your online order, and check your mailbox often. Either before (preferrable) or after you receive your package, consider sitting down with the wife, and share your feelings. Don't pressure her to accept, simply share. If she doesn't come back to you with comments after she's thought about it for a week or so, ask her if she's thought about what you said - and leave it at that, thanking her for whatever her response might be. Hopefully, it's at least reasonably supportive. If so, terrific! If not, don't despair, but you might have to make a choice - dump a very good x-year marriage over a style of shoe, or keep the marriage. Even if you keep the marriage (I would recommend it...), all is not lost, and there may be other opportunities, including changes in public styles, which may sway her at a later date. Your choice, though.
