The other thought I had was that the women who were patients at the plastic surgeon are probably a small, self-selecting group, and I'll bet money that they aren't wearing Payless. Probably not even Nine West.

    Ya' think?  😂

  2. Well, I like these better than the other pair with the real wide upper band and platform as I much prefer single soles, and I kind of like the see-through fabric of the upper, but that upper is still, for me, too much.  But I have a feeling they would be comfortable (I'd need a lower heel though as I'm physically averse to heels that high....lol)

Guess who is no longer at the office? Office people. Guess who is probably not wearing pumps when they do have to go to the office? Office people. This is why I say it doesn't look good for Nine West from my point of view.

Can't argue with that logic.  Women were pretty much ditching heels for work even before the lockout.  I sometimes wonder who buys the heels I still see in the stores, as I never see anyone wearing them!  (and I'm just making a wild guess that it isn't men buying those size 5-8 heels either...lol)

  4. While I have no direct knowledge of their quality these days, I personally find the majority of their offerings attractive.  I like classic style pumps and stiletto heels, and they have an abundance of those, while so many other shoe lines are going full time clunky crap, so I have a hard time with ho-hum, but agree that there are some butt-ugly, but the same goes for most shoe companies.  There are probably 10-15 shoes in their line-up that I'd take in a second, but they won't be 5" heels either, as I don't want that to begin with.  So if ho-hum for you is heels in the 4" range, I guess then they are ho-hum!

  5. I give you much credit for going your own way.  Personally, I doubt I could ever be comfortable dressed like that unless I was actually doing the full cross thing with make-up, etc.

Which bring me to the point of why I sort of like and continue to buy, own, and wear "high coverage" mules, when what I really like, as apparently do you, are the minimalist, barely-there styles. It's practicality. While my Bonny beaded mules have honestly got to be some of the best walking shoes ever (no one ever believes me on that one), if you trip, slip, or even kick your foot moderately strongly, you're losing your shoe. You could never dance in the Bonnys. You have to be very careful if you must run for some reason, like the light just turned yellow, and you're in the middle of a wide street. The higher coverage mules do not suffer from this problem. They stay on your feet quite securely, to the point that you basically can't put them on or take them off hands-free

I can absolutely see that.  I would think the higher coverage versions would be significantly easier to walk in.  Heck, I had a pair of mens slide type sandals and I had a hard time keeping those on my feet!  For some reason I guess my toes don't grip well, which also probably explains why I walk out of pumps as well.

Ron, I know you're not a big sandal guy, and I also know it's a "style" I see all the time, common as dirt on places like Instagram and the like, but I cannot see myself wearing pumps with shorts, ever. Thank you for your vote of confidence, however! Pump season will be here all too soon, unfortunately, and once again, I've let another summer go by without fixing the heater in my car. Time to get on that, like now!

Not the sandal part, it's more the overall mule/slide style and platform combo that is not my cup of tea.  While I don't mind a mule/slide like those BCBG Bonny slides you have shown, the wide upper on those here is just a style I dislike.  My taste in sandals runs toward the thin, strappy bare styles with single soles and stiletto heels, and I much prefer those on women with nice looking feet.  They don't look good on me, that's for sure!  But the reason there are so many styles is because there are so many people with different tastes, so heel on!

I don't see where the conversation is for sandals only. Sandals were mentioned, but not restricted too.

No restriction intended.  But mlroseplant specifically mentioned pointed toe sandals and I agreed with him.  Neither he, nor I, said that we didn't like pointed toe pumps.  All I was saying.

I reckon it depends on how pointy. A relatively short point, like on a Louboutin So Kate, is perfectly fine. If its a long point, yeah, then its instant dislike.

We are talking sandals here, not pumps.  Pointed toe sandals.

OK, along the same lines, I really dislike this trend of pointy-toed sandals. The contrast of a bare foot with this triangle-shaped thing sticking out in front of the toes is a bit jarring, to say the least. For the same reason, I also dislike very square-toed sandals.

I'm with you on both of these sir, though I can tolerate the square better than the pointed sandals.  I very much dislike that.

Older women seem to be into gym wear, which I find to be somewhat lazy...

    Ya' think?   lol

I was in a Target store today and while walking through I heard what sounded like someone in heels.  I had to take a look.  Turned out to be a nice looking woman in a dress and a pair of nude colored stilettos with maybe a 3.5-4" heel.  It's probably been at least six months since I've seen a woman in heels of any kind so it sure was a nice sight to see.  Made my day!

5.25 in heels. Single sole with 1980's beige hard soles (loved those, lasted forever and wore to black hard smooth surface).

Stiletto style, not straight down from the back of shoe.

Low cut almond toe vamp. Some toe clevage on outer toe.

Thin tee strap, open instep and outstep.

    Closed toe and closed heel.

Leather uppers, patent and matte. I'd buy every color available.

I like everything about your description, but I'd have to have a heel of not more than 4" to suit my capabilities.
