@mlroseplant No, I don't do any warm-up before going outside. But I put them on first before the rest of the clothes, so there's already a bit of standing in them before walking. What makes a difference is weither I been at home barefeet all day or already been out in heels all day. Even if I only wore lower heels like 8 cm all day, the transition is easier.

That's a cool pair, I somehow like the style. Yes, they seem to be as steep as my Hot Chicks. Glad I'm not the only one feeling a big difference between 12 and 13 cm 😉

Wow, that's an insane skill!

One mile is quite a bit, congratulations! I don't really like the look of them, but don't find them ugly either. For sure they're OK as training heels.

The High Heeled Ruminations Of Melrose Plant
higherheels replied to mlroseplant's topic in For the guys
Yes, they're not easy and comfortable to wear. But that is simply due to the heel height and shape of the toe box. They're very well built and therefor I don't consider them "unsafe" because they offer good stability. I didn't know that they're still made as a special order, that's cool! I looked up the price and apparently it's about double of what I paid for them back in the days... Oh, what a pity...but I certainly can't complain about you guys 🙂 -
The same goes for me. I've wanted to wear the Hot Chicks or generally my higher heels more, but the conversation with you was the kick-off for actually getting into it.

Thanks, good to know 🙂 -
Absolutely! I thought the same of my encounter with my neighbour. And you seem to be known all around town for your high heels, so you definitely have an influence already 🙂

The High Heeled Ruminations Of Melrose Plant

I see that this topic is in the "for the guys" forum, I'm sneaking in because I got marked by @Shyheels I hope it's OK for you all if I post here? The availability of good quality heels with a 11+ cm heel at a reasonable price is very bad in my opinion. Every pair of this height I own is more on the expensive side. It's really sad. I don't want expensive designer brands for everyone of my pairs, anything with a good quality is fine for me, but this only really exists in the mid-heels range. It's also sad that even Louboutin doesn't make the Hot Chick 130 anymore. I definitely wouldn't go for a cheap knock-off one. The 13 cm heel itself is enough of a challenge, I wouldn't wanna have an extra struggle with bad quality 😉 -
Don't say that, maybe you'll inspire some men who always wanted to do it but were afraid to. The story about the woman is crazy!
-
Now that sounds really impressive!
-
Ah, see, so it was probably just the car itself if you encountered the same
-
I was also quite surprised that she knows a bit about heels and even owns a pair of Louboutins. Yes, I could see that she sometimes wears heels, at least more than others, but this was not what I expected. Thank you! I have to point out that up to now I've only chosen the shortest possible walk, which is as I measured 170 m long. I want to keep it short for the beginning as I rather want to do it more often. And I think it was more about our conversation than my walking skills that got her into thinking about her Pigalles again, but I'm happy about it anyway 🙂

I already did a few walks around the block in the Hot Chicks. This is the best (and hardest) training so far. Yesterday I had a funny experience. I'm doing my walks in the evening, it's mostly already dark outside and not much going on. But yesterday a neighbour was in the garden and she saw me walking by. At first she just greeted me normally, but then she had a wondering second glance and said: "Wow, they're especially high today". We then had a little conversation and it turns out she also has a pair of Louboutins, the Pigalle 100. She said she doesn't really wear them anymore, but I made her curious to get them out again 😉
-
@Shyheels That's a good idea! No, it was a Fiat Punto. I can't recall what exactly the problem was, it just didn't feel good. It might as well have been the car in general, but I didn't drive it in flats so I can't say for sure.
-
Not my thing, but I appreciate the skill!
-
Cycling in heels is very comfortable because it's basically the same as cyling without heels, as only the front part of the feet touch the pedals. But the same as for driving a car: I wouldn't choose heels for the thrills, it's just more practical to keep them on. I also once had a rental which didn't feel that good in heels. But it might have also been in flats as well...
-
The rumor that driving barefoot is illegal also goes around in Germany, I don't know why. @Shyheels Great! Seems the day of wearing them to the cafe is getting closer and closer.
-
I don't know anything about any boats, but I believe you on that 😉 I cannot recommend. The highest ones I've driven with must have been a 11 cm heel. I didn't feel unsafe, but uncomfortable. The hardest is pressing the clutch pedal, because you have to stretch your foot more than in lower heels. If I wear anything higher I'm just letting my husband drive.
-
I don't think that's the problem. Just because there is more or less open area at the front doesn't say anything about the shoe's shape. That's a nice pair by the way! I also tried insoles in the past. But the best they could do for me was to make bad-fitting shoes fit a bit better. Now I'm very picky when buying shoes and since that I never used insoles again.
-
This line could be from my husband, I'm sure he said that before 😅 I also don't find any thrill in it. For me it's a practical thing. If I wouldn't drive in heels I'd have to change shoes everytime I get in and out of the car. For longer trips it might be OK, but not for the everyday drives. Also I can't find any downsides of driving in heels, as long as they're below 10 cm or so. If they're higher, the heel gets a bit in the way when pressing the pedals.
-
Haha then I'd rather stick to practicing in Hot Chicks than in Converse 😉
-
What a pity, and at the same time interesting that flats which should apparently be comfortable aren't. I can't even speak of recent experience because I only have one pair of sneakers left, and use them for working only where I'm not really walking a lot. But yes, they feel like offering no support at all. Are you talking about pumps or closed shoes? I never really had this issue. This happens to me too, especially with higher heels.

Yesterday evening it buggered my mind so much that I can't find good everyday occasions for the Hot Chicks, that I just put them on and went for a walk around the block. Actually this might be the best training occasion anyway, because it's simple, I can always do it, and I can vary the length. And my neighbours know me anyway so they probably won't even realize if I'm wearing 13 cm heels instead of 11 cm 😅 Usually I also always drive in my heels, but somehow I never tried in the higher ones. And I have the same issue with scuffed heels from driving, so I wouldn't want to do this to my Hot Chicks. That sounds very good 🙂 Exactly! Nobody walks like that, and I don't see any sense in that. Maybe it's a thing of the look coming from the runway...
-
They certainly are! Normally real world walking is the only way for me (except while breaking in a new pair), but since the Hot Chicks are such a challenge it was good to do more indoors. My biggest obstacle for wearing them out is that they don't feel suitable for many things. I don't have that many occasions with limited walking distance, and can't yet overcome myself to wear them for basic things like grocery shopping. Also this would bring the issue of driving in them, which I don't feel safe to do so. Typical luxury problems of living with Hot Chicks 😀
