Thanks Shyheels for creating this thread, that was a good idea! Alright, so let's start with my reply to your posts in the other thread: @ShyheelsWow, you're practicing a lot already. Good to hear that your calves are doing rather fine so far. You're living on a boat, wow that's cool! But sure can make your practice more difficult sometimes 😉 @mlroseplantNice that you're joining us too! I have nothing new to tell you so far. I'm planning on wearing them indoors for at least once a week. I'll also try to wear them out more, but they don't fit every occasion and I wanna make sure that I don't have to walk/stand too much. My goal is that I don't have to think too much about how much walking/standing there will be, because I can handle it anyways 🙂

A separate thread is a good idea! I'll write my reply in the new thread already. @Gige yeah, nobody would make such an cartoon-advertisement these days, really interesting. The fact that they're not so different from nowadays shows how timeless certain heel styles are. Can't tell that about other shoes. 13 cm heels to the office, that's an achievement! At my stage right now I think my feet would die at the end of the day, but I also have to walk a lot sometimes. -

That's great, join us if you want to mlroseplant! I am the same, when I worked my way up in heel height I always started wearing them at home only until I felt confident enough to wear them out (except as a teenager, but that's a different topic 😉) @ShyheelsGreat, how were your calves doing? I also started today, I wore my Hot Chick 130 while cooking. The last time I did that was when I bought them and also started practicing at home. They get uncomfortable pretty quickly, that's why I only used them for short walks with a lot of sitting until now. I hope that will change now. -

Oh, all the best afterwards! I'm really excited, I didn't think I'll start that soon, but you gotta start at some point. Let's see how far we'll come. -

Yeah, totally! I also have my go-to shoes that are comfortable and go with many outfits. Perfect for everyday life and work. You're right, its probably worth the effort, and I'm also motivated. Guess I have to make a New Year's resolution now in August 😄 - training for getting better in 13 cm heels -

That would definitely be a nice accomplishment, there are so many good looking 12 cm heels and if you then can wear them comfortably - even better! Thanks, I haven't yet decided on really putting effort into that, but it's actually a pity that I mostly go for the 12 cm or lower ones because of laziness and routine probably, while I have the 13 cm sitting in the closet. With some more training they'd sure become more comfortable, and it would be nice to get more use out of them. -

@Shyheels: If you're doing fine in 10 cm heels I'm sure you can also make the 12 cm work. But as you said, it sure would require some effort. A 11 cm heel would make a good training shoe. I'm also thinking about putting some effort into getting more comfortable in my 13 cm heels as I really like them, but don't wear them often. -

Ah, that makes sense. I probably didn't have this issue because I first started wearing heels and then hiking. They're definitely a good workout. I saw many times while hiking that others bent or almost bent their ankle, that never happened to me. I blame it on my ankles being strong enough from stilettos 🙂 -

Interesting, maybe your calves were almost too strong, but not flexible enough. I'm hiking a lot and feel like the required strength and flexibility from wearing heels also helps there and vice versa. -

Seems I wasn't the only one wearing way too high heels for the first time. -
High Heels in a Novel
higherheels replied to CrushedVamp's topic in HHPlace Cafe! - General chit chat
Absolutely. But apart from the creepiness of the character, something "appropriate" relating to this story would be: Black or red peeptoe pumps with a 4 inch heel, or maximum of 5 inches (no platforms). Price between 100 - max. 150 $. -
That's an accurate description 😀

They really scream 80s. Not my style, I'd even rather choose some flats than such pumps. -

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. Now that kitten heels seem to be popular, which is the absolute worst case when it comes to stilettos. -
In the early 2010s or so I really liked the Casadei Blade, I even thought of buying them. But now they look sort of chunky, not so sleek to me. Does anyone else feel the same or am I just getting old and boring 😂?

I have the same experience. Not only short-term, but also long-term. When I started wearing my Hot Chick 130 (and felt like not proceeding so much), any 12 cm heel felt much easier. It makes sense because it's basically a training thing, and when you got to the next level the previous one becomes easier. It's also somewhat like a selfmade challenge to me. I bought them, like them, so I also want to wear them 😄 I also agree with you on the height of stilettos. While I have many heels with around 8 cm, they're almost exclusively block or wedge heels. Stilettos require a certain height not to look like "tried but failed". -

I also found that above 13 cm there are almost no visually appealing heels for me, now I know why! It really seems that there's a gap where almost nothing exists. I really like the mules shown by mlroseplant, but 14 cm is very rare. And 15 cm and up just doesn't look good to me. It makes sense that 12 cm are like a cutoff point. I'd say of myself that I can walk fine in 12 cm heels, but 13 cm are much more difficult. I bought the Christian Louboutin Hot Chick 130 early when they came out and didn't expect them to be that difficult. I still only wear them rarely. They even discontinued the Hot Chick 130 and changed it to a 100, I can understand why. But the 130 version is a very special shoe for me and I'd never change them for the 100s. -

Yes they are definitely a challenge. My 13 cm heels took me quite some time to get used to, and I still only wear them when I don't have to walk too much. 9 cm really is a good height for wearing all day. -
If they fit right, pumps or sandals don't have to be more difficult than boots. For sandals it can get more difficult if they only have few straps.

I agree on that. Around 12 cm is a very nice height. I also really love some higher ones (lookswise), but they're way more difficult to walk. Like the 1 cm step from 12 cm up to 13 cm is way bigger than an 1 cm step in lower areas. -
My first experiences with high heels were the same - cheap, not well-fitting, uncomfortable, and way too high for the beginning. But somehow I kept going, I just liked them too much. But I can understand that this is a part where many might choose not to ever wear heels again, or only very occasionally. Then after a few years I started going more for a perfect fit and good quality. I was quite surprised how comfortable high heels can be, and that was when I started wearing them also for everyday life.

Good find! I love the "why 5 inch heels" section, commercials were so different back then. Funny that they were advertised like that, even though they were very uncommon back then as you say. -
The black ones look really good, but I also like multicolor ones from the last picture very much!

What causes you most problems when you are walking in heels?
higherheels replied to Dollybird's topic in For the girls
I voted for cobbled streets because that's what I encounter most. What's also very bad, but doesn't happen to me that often is stiletto heels on grass. -
I literally wouldn't even know what to wear to the office if it wasn't heels.
