Love western boots with higher heels, will surely investigate Allen Boots!

It is a big store but still pretty mainstream in their own way.  Almost everything is in 2” Cuban heels, even over on the Ladies side.  Tons of men sizes but I did notice that ladies size 11 is almost nonexistent, like 1/8th the selection of more regular sizes.  The far end of the store is a Lucchese custom show room, which often has cool looking ideas and I imagine they can make anything...

On the other hand, some of these working cowboy stores outside of the city can have some amazing tall top boots that end up being more of what I like.

I layover in Houston and Austin also,  LAX frequently as well...D

If you like western boots I hope you have been able to go boot shopping out here during layovers.  I have some favorite stores in the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin areas.  Allen Boots is probably the closest one of interest to an airport, and it’s fun to walk around South Congress.  There is also a custom boot maker there but I still haven’t made it in there during hours they are open.

    Shorts, no pant leg interaction.

Otherwise I wear my Pants over the boot. which is a pity because I would love to show the whole shaft, specially my blue suede boots.

Yeah that is the interesting thing about the  way guys wear boots, hiding what is sometimes nice color and stitch work.  Since cropped pants have started coming back, I’ve gone that direction to show some off the footwear a little more.  Full break pants long enough for my waist size are hard to find anyway.  Standing, it is a subtle splash of color, and sitting down it’s pretty noticeable.

  4. Speaking of pant legs... what kind of pants do you all wear with tall boots?  I just wear straight leg pants over the shafts, which might give more air circulation than having the pants bunched up under the shafts.  Plus I like the feeling of leather on the calves.

But for guys who are wearing OTK boots over pants, do you have to seek out tighter cut pants to avoid them bunching up underneath?

Ha ha....   Intesesting article.  Like HnH and Mlrose, my wife of many years likes my long legs (I am too tall), says that they are “pretty,” and is ok with me wearing heels....    As long as the height is not much more than 2 inches, sometimes 3 inches - max.  That’s fine with me.....

Being tall with long(er) legs ain’t all is cracked up to be.    Smile...  sf

So for tall people, do high heels add too much height?  I am on the tall side, always wear 2.25”, and I find higher heels intriguing but don’t want to go overboard either.  I suppose I should just try some and see how I like it.

  6. It’s been really muddy here these last two weeks, and the boots have been keeping the mud off my trousers.  Lift from heels helps keep the feet higher from the mud, though I imagine this is only true of block heels, as stilettos would sink more?  What do all you high heelers do for muddy terrain?

I went to an outdoor wedding once where it seems most of the guests were from out of state, because I was the only one wearing dress boots.  It had rained recently, but many people still showed up in open toe shoes.  There were no disasters, but people were commenting that I had picked the right footwear for the situation.

  7. I know this is over a year old, but I have had some thoughts along these lines and wonder what people think.

For me, it starts with where we wear the pants belt.  When I was a teenager, I wore my pants at or even above my belly button, the most narrow part of my waist.  I think this shows off hip curves, because girls would ramble to me about how jealous they were of my hips and figure.  However, it was hard to find pants long enough at this waist size, and since I didn't want to show off half of my calves while wearing pants, over the years I lowered myself to wearing pants on my hips instead of my waist.

Recently, I've noticed some guys wearing cropped pants, and that gave me the idea to tighten the belt and wear my pants up at my waist again.  I feel younger, more fit, and energetic this way.  Yes, I am back to showing a lot more of my legs while sitting down, but since I am always wearing boots I actually like showing them.

Since corsets also tighten the waist line I have it on my list of things to try as well.  I don't have a lot of meat on my bones, so I'm not sure if it will have much effect other than squeezing my ribcage, but we'll see.

So knee boots and shorts....as SF says, "Why should girls have all the fun"

Good to know that I am not the only one thinking fun knee boots in the summer despite it not being boot season, whether it be with shorts or pants.  I don’t think I would be able to keep boots in storage for a whole summer season, I like them too much.

This is a question I've pondered often when reading posts here. I read the post, look at the avatar and wonder is that a picture of the poster. So is your avatar really you? Why did you choose that picture? and If your avatar is an image of someone else, why? BTW mine is me - it's a bit of an odd photo, but I just like that veiw of the heel. Shame about the chair leg.

Yes, my avatar is one of the first pictures of a new pair of boots that arrived in the mail right before I joined this place.  I chose the picture because it shows everything that I like about a good pair of boots: tall shaft hugging the calves, 3/4 welt, narrow toe, and of course a decent heel.  I realize it's not exactly a high heel, but I am addicted to the lift that it does give which is why I have joined here to try to get to the next level!

  10. It seems that even though we come from different "worlds", we are all human :)  And perhaps here we can be happy that even if we choose to wear different styles in our home office, at least we care about what we are wearing, which is why I really like this place I have found here.  I work from home and have many colleagues that do so as well.  I cringe every time I hear them say, "I love working from home because I don't have to think about what to wear."  It seems like here, our attitude is more of, "I love working from home because I can wear what I think looks good without being judged."

    Just stay away from rays.

LOL when I first read this I spent a minute fantasizing about some sting ray boots, and wondering why I should stay away from them... and then I remembered that the context here is Steve Irwin
