But in the Seventies we didn’t have social media steering the collective mindset, and fashion followed a more natural ebb and flow. What is happening today is very controlling

It’s always going to be Twitter to me, and I don’t want a bar of it. What in earth was Elon Musk thinking - if you can call it that - when he decided to name his rapidly shrinking investment “X”?
-
I think it is a bit different this time. Yes, fashion is cyclical but this downturn isn’t about the usual restlessly shifting tastes and fashions but about a new kind of authoritarianism where a nasty vocal minority on Twitter etc. can - and do - bully the larger populace into following a particular narrative.
Its possible that heels may make a return, but it will take more than just the usual pendulum swing. ,

An advantage to being a freelance and working from home - even one with limited space - is the ability to have everything where you want it and set your own dress code!

Cool indeed. I can play the iPad but little else…

Well I’d prefer chunky heeled knee boots myself but moto books have their practical uses!!!
-
Cowboy boots don’t do much for me, but I don’t mind Moto boots.

I’d say you’ve come to the right place with your questions. I do not understand anything about crypto and prefer to keep my meagre funds in things I do understand, but @kneehighsseems to be a genuine expert on the subject

Nice booth!!! I like the sound of your farmers market.
Most of my boots are three inch heels which are extremely comfortable for me - in terms of walking I barely notice them. I like the lines of four and five inch heels - and have a couple of pair at those heights but don’t wear them often enough to feel at home in them

I do not have anywhere near the number of heels in my wardrobe as many of the members here, but I too shall probably be obliged to downsize - hopefully not by much - in my off-grid move. But I shall certainly still have mainly heels in my wardrobe

My plan is to step off-grid, draw up the drawbridge, live frugally and let the world ride its own race

Even the whizz-bang Apple Watches struggle against the ubiquity of iPhones

I’d like to think Jesus wouldn’t have a television show….
I’ve always been a very early riser - usually getting up between 4-4:30am, no matter what time I go to bed. Sleeping in to 5:30 would be an incredible rarity for me. I’ve been doing this for decades, since my teen years. Thus an alarm clock has not been necessary as there are very seldom reasons for anyone having to get up earlier than that.

Good point - Christian Louboutin has famously remarked that his shoes (and presumably boots as well!) were not about comfort. I suppose it’s a matter of expectations.
In thinking over the prices, where are Louboutins made?
-
That’s a very good price for Louboutin boots!

I’ve never worn a watch. It’s simply not me. I can appreciate the beauty and workings of a fine watch, especially a mechanical one, but I’ve never gone down the watch wearing route myself. That said I’m never late for anything, nor gave I ever missed a flight - there’s always a public clock somewhere and I usually leave plenty of time. But I’ve never been interested in wearing a watch

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy them!

Yes I can highly recommend Jean Gaborit - the workmanship and leather is wonderful and they are entirely custom made, including the sole, so they fit beautifully too. They do several styles of fully laced boots. Yes, they are expensive - custom and made entirely in their workshop in France - but they will last you many many years. A very worthwhile investment

A bit like bicycle bottom brackets with English, Italian, French and Swiss threading.
As above - in other news, wearing heels and anticipating the onset of boot season

Pretty typical - most people really don’t notice much. I wear knee and OTK boots and few people notice. To be sure mine are quite conservative and blend well with my skinny jeans but I reckon I could probably wear candy-coloured patent leather thigh-high stilettos and no more than half the people I’d encounter on a walk to the shops would notice a thing. Bored drivers might, if they were stopped at a light …

I’m sure there’s plenty of people interested in PVC on this forum as well.
-
Yes, I wasted away a good few years myself - more than twenty, alas - always fancying wearing knee and OTK boots and never summoning the nerve to do so. I guess the thing is not to look back - it’s all water under the bridge - and just be glad that we found the nerve to step up and be ourselves

Nobody would notice your heels because nobody would be expecting it!
-
Still another perspective - the leather soles on my (high heeled) boots are not at all thin or flimsy. Admittedly my boots are custom made and the workmanship as well as the materials are very high quality. I won’t be wearing them out any time soon. I do have a couple of pair of non-heeled leather knee boots with Vibram soles but those are for rugged terrain.

Those are very nice. Perfect with jeans. Love a pair of those myself, altough I doubt they come in my size.
