I am a member on another forum - nothing whatever to do with heels or fashion - and, honestly, the amount of quarrelling, scorn, venom and sheer ornery bloody-mindedness on there is staggering. I never bother posting and follow only on the chance that I can pick up some useful information. It’s there - decent information - but you generally have to trawl through pages of obnoxiousness to find it.
This forum really is very civil and civilised. Long May it continue

Sounds like a fun and accepting interaction

Yes, we all understood perfectly what you meant. The point of the forum is to engage in pleasant and meaningful way, not quibble over semantics.

Yes, I’m curious too. Aside from the drawbacks mentioned above, you’d damage the floor or carpet of any room you walked through

Hello and welcome to the forum. You’ll find it’s a very friendly place with quite a variety of people and styles, from all walks and from both sides of the pond - I live in the UK myself. However different or tastes and styles we all share a belief in personal expression and the freedom to wear what you like
-
Of course there are now platform soles, some of them truly Frankenstein-ish, found on sneakers and adding extra clumpiness to combat boot styles. We do not live in an age where subtlety and nuance are appreciated and valued
-
I’ve never been a fan of platform - to me they spoil the clean lines and elegance of a high heel - but some of the styles of shoes and sandals I’ve seen on here manage to retain that. I’ve seen several pair in posts lately that I could imagine wearing.

Fixated on "Mrs. Levys" boots as well as "Pia's boots", my classmate. Amazed that I passed the fourth grade.
For me it was Lori the pretty red haired girl in 7th grade. She had a friend who also regularly trotted around Inigo go boots but it was Lori who caught and held my eye. I wonder whatever became of her…

I would think if you used a suede brush you couldn’t go far wrong. Should hurt anything

hopefully it was a meeting of minds - and both of your ideas! Yes, I recall a shorter heel and just below the knees. I was such a daydreamy sort I actually didn’t cotton on at first that these were only for girls- at the time (c1970) there was so much blurring of boundaries in fashion and with men wearing platforms it seemed plausible. I was deeply embarrassed to discover in the nick of time that I’d been coveting girls boots

I took a punt and went for a 12 and it worked out all right

Well at long last I have gone and bought myself a pair of tall white boots, something I’ve wanted since I was a kid and secretly fancied a pair of go-go boots as worn by a pretty red-haired girl in my seventh grade class. these aren’t exactly go-go boots, but are a nice OTK approximation, in cream rather than the classic white patent, but I am pleased with them. I found them by accident when I just happened to glance at the Long Tall Sally website, on spec, and after wavering a couple of days, bought a pair - even though space is very! Very tight in my new off-grid home!
They are not real leather - the only pair of boots I have that aren’t - and I certainly notice the difference in feel and quality, but in the other hand they were not expensive, fit well and are comfortable.

I would still love to find a nice pair of white patent go-go boots but the only ones I ever see are cheap things in fancy dress shops.

Those look really nice - and I say that as someone who does not care for platforms. Whoever designed those got the proportions right. They look great with flares too. I’m not into sandals or platforms, but I can see the attraction of those and would wear them
-
That’s a nice look and yes, I agree flares work wonderfully with heels - a nice free flowing feel. Alas they don’t work well with knee boots …

Indeed! I’m at London City Airport and they’re wondering what the disturbance is - they can’t hear the planes

And start on the hard stuff

Yes stilettos are certainly tricky with lots of hidden traps for the unwary
