  1. Hi all, well I finally opened my order of Syro "Chad's" from Solestruck. They looked very good but when I tried them on I ran into a sizing issue. The shoes did not fit in fact they felt like a size 8 in womens and not mens. I take a size 41 and have ordered successfully from Solestruck before with no issue, but these are not sized correctly and small. Now as a twist in the story, I also got a notice that Solestruck has closed its doors, really! they were a good store I felt. But so suddenly there are gone. I am waiting to hear from an email address about returning my shoes for a new size. So I am at a stalemate as to what will happen now, I have found a direct contact to Syro and hopefully that will produce some replies. So at this point I hope see some sort resolution. I also reread a bunch of promo's about Syro which one stated "Solestruck has created its own shoeline, Syro".  Hmmm will report back when I find out more details.

  2. Well in BC it is wet with daily showers and thunderstorms. Been quite wet for last 5-6 weeks. Only a few days of heat, which saves us from fires. Still can have a sandal morning and a boot afternoon though!

Pushing the style: booties, hosiery & dress - that´s what this post is about :cheeky:

    ================

    Hi guys,

after some really busy weeks - lot of work, moving finally to Berlin and therefore decluttering my old apartment - I found some time to create a new post. Of course there could be more pics, but this post is only the beginning.

Inspired by JeffB I was looking to push my style a little bit to a more feminine look. Some weeks ago, I had the great opportunity to buy two items from Rad Hourani. His designs are genderless. I always liked his creations and also already had some items, but when I got the chance to buy a trench coat and a dress, I had to spend the money on this two amazing items.

The trench coat is a killer item. Amazing quality and very good to combine. I am mixing it with sneakers & skinny black jeans for daily wear, but also a litte more edgy with chunky booties. So this is my first style:

    rad2.JPG

It is what I would call these days a "feel good style". Easy to walk in heels, 100den hosiery and it brings up the concept of genderless style very good. I had already some outings with this style and I have to say, that wearing things you like and that gives you a "wow feeling" is a key to push your limits & your style.

After getting used to this basic look, I wanted to make the look a little bit more edgy. Basically I am so in love with the dress and the coat, that the only thing would be, to make the look a little bit more "sharp" was to give it a little bit of feminine touch. When I was shopping two weeks ago wearing this outfit, I went to one of my preferred shoe shops and the sales assistant - who already knows me - challenged me, when I told here that I was looking for some "upgrade" to my outfit.  The result: pointy booties with stiletto heel.

These booties from Ma&Lo are so easy to walk in. Like with the dress and the trench: spending some extra bucks is often the best thing you can do. Feeling in love with this booties, I left the shop and went to buy a pair of more transparent hosiery to match the new booties to the rest of my outfit. 50 denier was the right style and so I could finish my outfit.

Next thing? Going out and enjoy life.

ANDROgenius, very good styling, wow! you really have upped the the sharpness of your outfit amazingly.  So nice to hear that you have great suggestions by the sales assistant in one of your preferred shoe shops, that was really cool. I think finding a stylist or someone who can give challenges and style suggestions could do us all some good. I really like the black hose you have chosen to bring out the stiletto booties, it really does some wonders. I have been following Rad Hourani for some time, he certainly does Uni-sexual designing, I do find them a bit squarish but some items are really nice. The Dress and Coat look awesome on you, I can see why you love them. Thanks for sharing your ideas, I appreciate the efforts you put into the outfits.  Cheers and hope your move to Berlin will let you be more stylish and be who want to be!

  4. Hiheellover23, So good for you to go out and have some fun with those awesome boots, yes here is a cheers to your best day ever! Cheers Man!     To your questions,  how do you shut it off and carry forward? and How do you deal with it all? Those are tough questions for sure, personally I do not shut it off, it fuels me to do more and more knowing that is what i want to wear and be. For a time I too had to shut it off and I can tell I got depressed and not very social able because I could not get my shoe/boot fix. I just got tired of having to hide it and finally decided what if someone sees me in a pair shoe or boots, are they going to fire me? No, if I replied with "I like to wear these and so I am" what would they say? I want to ask you, what would your brother or mom or dad, what do you think they would say or do? Do you think they would berate you on the spot, humiliate you? I wonder what we worry about, I mean is it the fear we are and have been hiding something, that we have not been truthful to our closest family and friends? Picture this, I really pay attention when someone shows a gun or knife, I think we all do, but put in that situation we deal with it and hopefully walk away unscathed. But wearing a pair of shoes or boots do we really think we will garner that kind of attention? that we have a fight or flight reaction. I have been thinking a lot about this issue that we face as far as a perceived reaction we might get. You know women face that same issue on a daily basis, for what they wear, how wear it and how they come across to people they meet. You know what, they do not make eye contact they keep to themselves and go about their business, that is how we can learn from them, they just do what they want and wear what they want. I have seen so many women that wear really clothes and shoe/boots and they just do it. If you were ask woman for the time, she may comply and tell you , if a person being an A hole made sly and inappropriate comment they just keep going and walk away. Women have face the same kind of issues every day but that does not stop them from being who they are and what they wear. Of course there are places and circumstances you would not go dressed or wearing something that will bring unwanted attention but nor do women go there. So aside from that if you were compare these issues,  1) your family and friends found out you do heavy drugs? 2) your family and friends found out you own a hand gun and go a firing range? 3 your family and friends found out you are having an extramarital fling? 4) your family and friends found out that you like heels and are so happy wearing them? 5) your family and friends found out that you are a musician and have been doing a rock roll gig and your band wears high heeled boots and plays some kick ass good tunes? (like Prince)  6)  your family and friends found out a nasty bit of your history that was criminal and you hurt people?   Now out of all those issues, can we tell what people will say? I guess what I am getting at is if it makes you happy and you are not doing anything wrong, illegal, hurtful or nasty is it fair for us expect the same reaction just because we like to wear heels?  It is a funny dilemma we place up on ourselves. I have done similar worrisome thoughts for each of these, heeled shoes and boots, pantyhose, and skirts, in the end if we wear them in crowed places, where people are too preoccupied and afraid of saying anything we get no reaction and we can even get compliments by wearing them plus we have the best time ever by wearing whatever we want. We only have one chance at this life, we got to own up to ourselves and make the best ever life journey. So with that thought I just said screw it!  I am going to wear what I want! I live by a quote that has made all the difference for me, "I feel much better now that I have given up hope"  Rock on HiHeellover23 ! don't wait for permission to wear heels again just go do it and be happy!

  5. I was perusing the Shoes Of Prey site again a few minutes ago, they have a store in San Francisco that would really good to check out. With moving here they have expanded to 5 locations in Nordstroms. But Nordstroms is a great place for shoe shopping anyways..see below!

  6. I generally get a size 41 Euro, and in most North American stores a size 11 women's. Several places I have bought shoes or boots at, the size 11 can be inconsistent. Like Frye Boots, size 11 is too big where as Aldo it is small. Like many of us have said, try on if you can.  With Shoes of Prey I communicated with an employee to finally settle on my size and went with my gut feeling or 41 Euro.

  7. But recently I bought a pair of Room 502 from Fluevog, really nice summer shoes with a 3" Cuban heel, these I have worn all over the place. I have quite a collection of this style of shoe/boot, they are very easily worn out on any occasion.

  8. Well I finally got my new Shoes of Prey shoes with a 4.5" heel, I am really impressed with he quality and fit, very happy. Here is picture of the new shoes! I would recommend them highly. I would say that I went with my European sizing versus the US comparing size on their site, if I would have gone with the Us sizing i would have been to small. However now that I have the size dialed, I will be after more shoes in other styles in the near future.

Thanks guys,,,,, I thought it was a good out outfit for Sunday. Had a great day, great outing, great conversations. Not 1 bad comment or question and most didn't even notice.  Not my usual boots and mini, mini skirt!!!!:giggle:

Great outing Cat, nicely put together. Good for you going out shopping all day, yes if you are in the big city I agree that many more folks are much of a spectacle than a fellow wearing heels and a skirt. I think in the big major cities many folks would not say anything, also with the whole movement of transgender folks and being in public has really brought a bigger acceptance than we can gauge. And if we make an effort to dress well we will get we will win that acceptance, we will be able to wear what we want!  Thanks for sharing the great photos!

  11. Yup I think it depends where the Doctors live and practice. Most of them near my town (read, very much country) do not even know what a heel is not along make a positive/negative comment about them. As Swedeheeler said,  "Ergo sum. To live is dangerous "  I agree, everything we do can lead to death if you want it to. I have seen some very good looking women Doctors wearing outstanding heels and said to self, wow she looks amazing in those heels! I think their opinion would be worthy of comment as well!  Thanks Steve for the quote!

Hmm... looked at the different styles... most of them look way too much "Jeffrey Campbell" to me - the platform simply is too high, the shoes look out of proportion. Maybe as a 15 year old, yes, but at age 30 or 40... no, thank you. The wedges looked similar to the Rick Owens ones at first, but then again... platform too high.

I don't like shoes that are too pointed, so "George" is also out. That leaves "Chad" is the only remainder, which also leaves me torn. On the one hand, I've seen a similar style by certain designers (reminds me a little of YSL Tribtoo), but then again, this style is probably more geared towards the fetish oriented. Not saying that it cannot look great, but I just imagine someone starting to wear heels, and then starting out with such a pair. This will probably look like this .

Also from a structural/technical point of view: The heel of "Chad" is placed at the very back of the shoe, so in terms of stability, it is more prone to break. Unless they have used great materials, at a size > 10 mens (and the corresponding weight) they will probably face a lot of complaints about breaking heels.

Why not put up some heels for men that show a bit more class? Less platform, less "chunkiness" would make these shoes look so much better.

I applaud them for bringing out shoes for men, but I hope that they add styles that are more wearable.

I agree Freestyle that styles are not optimal for seasoned high heelers like ourselves however it is great that a company has brought in shoes for men and in sizes that many can order. If anything it is a great step forward and that I am happy about. I am lucky to find sizes in women's shoes so I can find many shoes, but for many guys this gives them some choice. Jeffrey Campbell is certainly on his own style and has done well for his business, but not always classy, but both you and i have access to some fine women's sized shoes so we are lucky. It will be interesting to see if they come out with more styles for sure..

  13. Greetings All, I just got a "PreOrder Sales Note" from Solestruck in Portland Oregon about some high heels for men from a company called "Syro". They have 5 styles, 4 booties and 1 pair of platform pumps in sizes up to 14. The wedge Boots look similar to the ones Rick Owen produced some time ago that Rock Pup purchased. I am intrigued by the pumps and have ordered a pair for delivery in June.

Here is a link to the Solestruck page.., What do guys think?

  14. As often as I can, however in the winter I have fewer days in heels because of ski work, ski boots do not come with high heels...but if they did..The rest of time I wear heeled shoes and boots at home and out of home. My S.O. is accepting of my heeling so no need hide or worry about what I wear. Vacations can be mixed if there is any activity involved or if I am with special groups. Heel on!

  15. Sydheel, Moved to the US hey, that is a big move, I have been drawing on their design sheets for awhile now, dozen sitting there, yes bank rolling is the need. Cool!

    Thanks for info!

SoP are really great. Started hete in Syd but have moved to US.

Fully made to order. Umpteen designs / heels combos and hundreds of colours / leathers to choose from.

Plus they offer a 1 year remake guarantee if they dont fit.

Go into the store. I think they have 8-10 spots in varying Nordstroms and you can try on blanks to confirm shoes size / width.

Then get creative and order. I think they are 4-6 weeks. Delivered to your door.

I have 2 pairs designed, waiting for my bank balance to grow a bit.

I'd suggest flat black leggings to go with the leather kilt.  Either of the boots are fine.  The shinny leggings would be a distraction as would be the black ones with the pattern.  However, the black pattered ones would look good without the kilt.

If you want some contrast on your legs consider these boots:

    http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32565770707.html

Swedeheeler, I agree with TBG, shiny tights would be distraction, black or even some colored tights would work with a matching top. Recently I worn my black kilt with purple Argyle socks with a matching purple polo shirt with a pair of black chelsea boots.

  17. Hi Swedeheeler, Sure you could put a corset on and wear it with the kilt, however I think with a kilt, get use to wearing one and then see about a corset. I think with a corset one will outshine the other so in other words to much. I can imagine a leather skirt with a corset that would be awesome, but a kilt may not look as good. With either skirt or kilt and depending on how long the corset is one may cover the bottom of the corset. But I have 2 links to corsets that would work with a leather kilt. Also here is a link to Utilikilts that have a great gallery of photos and what different folks have paired their kilts with. I think if you are looking for more of a feminine look a nice sweater or flowing top would very good. Hope that helps.

  18. Ya Joe, awesome collection for sure! Good for you, you are so right " at least it is not drugs". One pair a day all year long..cool.

Sometimes I wonder if shoes are not drugs, they make you feel good, easier to find, they do make a person wobbly once in awhile, but the big benefits are it is totally legal so you won't go to jail in most parts of the world. Shoes are very liberating and gives one confidence. I'd rather shop than get caught with drugs. Thanks for sharing.
