  1. Making footwear to order is never an easy matter. It is fine when you're turning out 100,000 pairs at a time but when you're making every pair by hand it is far more difficult. Sometimes you have to wait for materials or components and some suppliers are notorious for being awkward. In some cases you have to order huge multiples of something you only need one pair of. Heels for example have to be ordered by the hundred so if you only need one pair it will cost you £200 just for the heels. For this reason many manufacturers like to consolidate items going through the factory, this also saves time in setting up machines etc.

Say you order a pair of thigh boots and at that time they're making sandals, then they're going to wait until they have more thigh boot orders before they start on yours. The minimum number in most cases is 6 pairs.

I have full understanding of that. And I do not mind waiting some time either when I have something on special order. What ticks me off is this complete silence, and then later the 'excuse' that they had problems with their e-mail. It sounded a bit like "I did not receive your 6 e-mails". That and the fact that he never wanted to admit that he had

    made a mistake.

They make good boots, but they are way too optimistic on delivery times and very poor w.r.t. communication. For the rest they seem to be honest.

All I can say is: if you want their boots, fine! But take the possibility into account that you may have to wait longer than expected.

  2. I am not understanding all of it. If you have the habit to walk on the front part of your feet, or walk on tiptoe, you are also placing all your weight on the ball of your foot. I do not think that endangers your foot. I have been walking like that the whole of my life and never had any problems. I think that there are many people who believe that if you do not do like them, you must be doing something wrong. Most likely it involves you being stupid or something even more horrible. Cf men wearing heels! Gasp! Y.

  3. Welcome. The answer to your question depends on where you live in Holland. In Amsterdam or Rotterdam you should not have too much trouble. I have seen them in several shops. Of course the question is what you consider good or bad quality. If they are super stable and inflexible, they may not look nice. Y.

  4. Most pages that I encountered with statistical information agree on that indeed wearing heels and things like that are on the whole unrelated with being gay or not. There is an interesting book about this: "My husband Betty" by Helen Boyd. She also mentions that at one time they are on a cruise with many cross dressers and the best evening they had was when many of them dropped the female acting and acted as men in women clothes. Or in short: more like fashion freedom, but she did not know that word at the time she wrote the book. It gives me the impression that there are many men who try to pass as women because that is the only way they think they fit into a society accepted category, but actually would be much happier walking around as a man with women clothes (and may not all but just selected items). It is just that many people are apparently fascinated by a small subcategory of gays who dress in women clothes and because of that start putting labels in completely wrong ways, both on gays and on men in women clothes. And that labeling is so strong that if you just wear one item of the wrong shelve, many will call you gay already. This happened also when men started to have piercings in their ears and wearing very little ornamentations there. Now few will have second thoughts about that. Y.

  5. That wig is not going to look unisex. If you want to look for more male-like long hair, have a look at some pictures from the middle ages. You can start from there, and then see what modifications you would make to get it more unisex. If you start from a beautiful female supermodel, it is rather difficult to scale it down to unisex, because it was designed to be very feminine. Of course, if it is the feminine aspect that attracts you, you should be more honest to yourself, and drop the word unisex. It is the same as wearing heels that are still considered to be in the feminine domain. Some don't, and some do and think: "never mind what people think: this is what I like". Just be honest with yourself. Y.

  6. If it was in hhplace.org, it may have come from me. A number of years ago, before I had found hhplace, I did a lot of searching on the internet, because like many people here, I wanted to know how `unique' I was in my preferences. This involves not only high heels, but also other items of clothing, but I would never consider dressing up completely to pass as a female. I found several sites making some reference to numbers, and some claimed to have them based on some statistical investigations. This is of course notoriously difficult, because you cannot just ask men in the street whether and how often they wear women clothes. Two sites made reference to data from hospital emergency rooms for which the incidence of men wearing items of female cloths was around 2%. (one saying two the other 3). One had also made an inquiry on their site of cross dressers (so these people were anonymous and willing to admit they cross dressed) what percentage of the time they wore such clothes. Combining the numbers that investigation came to the conclusion that almost 10% of the males was regularly wearing items of female clothes. The other investigation was not so detailed in the last past and estimated something closer to 5%. Then there was another site that referred to an investigation, but of this one I forget the details, but it claimed that of the British male population at least about 50% had tried on female cloths at one time or another. And their claim was that up to 20% were doing this more than just once (but probably mostly in the bedroom). This is all I remember from those pages. It was not only about shoes. There are sites about skirts, that do not want to talk about shoes, sites about pantyhose, etc. One thing is clear though: these things are far more common than people want to admit. We are --far-- from unique. Y.

  7. If you take that verse literally, you would also have to take the rest of the chapter literally. I hope those who insist on its literal application also have a parapet on their roof, wear clothes without mixed materials and with tassles on them, kill a woman who is not a virgin when she gets married, etc., etc. Interesting too that the chapter ends with a mention of a father's skirt!

Stupid me. I always thought it said: "Thou shalt not kill".

So much for taking things literally.

  8. Personally I think that the most important thing is the mind. I prefer my wife in jeans with a radiant face, over her being in a super dress with super shoes and a face that spells thunderstorm. Anyway, I have no reason to complain. When we go out she always does her best to look nice for me. What more can I ask for? There are a few things that would be difficult for me to handle. One is smoking (gives me terrible headaches). Drugs would be another. The clothes and the shoes are nice, but as said, a sunny character is far more important. Y.

  9. The problem is that there is a subcategory of gays that like to wear heels: The ones that dress up like women and then try to pick up men. In Madrid there is an area that is famous for them. After a while everybody knows about this. The normal gays do not behave like this of course just like the vast majority of women is not a prostitute. But in some cultures all women who do not wear a veil must be prostitutes. Same reasoning? Y.

  10. There seems to be more than one definition of 'residual income'.

    www.investopedia.com/terms/r/residualincome.asp

This is the first hit that google gives me.

This might become a lot clearer if you be a bit more specific because not everybody may understand exactly what you mean, the site being rather international.

But I do understand that women like men with heels who do not have to work much :wavey:.

    (just to stay on topic)

    Y.

  11. The truth is that money is not HARD to make. That's just a belief. I cover my living expenses every month now without having to work more than 15-20 minutes a day and there are loads of people who do much better than me. It's residual income.

It is a good thing that not everybody is like you. If everybody would work only 15-20 minutes a day, all that money would not be worth very much. We would all starve to death. Fortunately there are still people in the world who do work.

  12. The best thing is to always have a piece of measuring tape with you. When you put the skirt flat and measure the waist in cm (that is then half the circumference) you get the German size which is nowadays used in most of the European continent. By comparing with American sizes you can make your own conversion table. This gives you a rough indication about the fit, because some material with stretch more than other. For most skirts I need (in these sizes) 42, but sometimes I hit on one that is stiffer and I need 44. Once you know this trick and you know your European size, all you need is measuring tape. Y.

  13. As someone who has put in an expensive wooden floor in an apartment I know quite something about what the issues are here. I made a whole study about how to put it 'floating' so that the noise for the downstairs neighbors would be minimal. My neighbors can still hear things, but they would also hear the people that lived in the apartment before me and they had a carpet. If people walk predominantly on their heels and have a very heavy tread, it can cause quite some noise. Hence I can understand perfectly that the judge in his verdict mentioned that after all the work they did for the insulation, the sound with a carpet directly on the floor would not be less. I always keep my neighbors into account and try not to walk on heels at stupid times and when I walk with heels, try to do it carefully. And I prefers heels that do not make much sound. This is just normal respect. At the same time, I do not overdo it because I believe that I also have a right to enjoy my apartment. This is life: a collection of compromises. If you do it right, you do not have to pay lawyers. My neighbor does not complain. He only mentions occasionally that he can hear something, but then he mentions that he can hear another neighbor much more. That guy has put his parquet floor directly on the concrete. I know of apartment buildings where the rules say that if neighbors complain about this, you have to take it out, and you cannot move in until you sign the rules. The rules say specifically that parquet has to be floating. There will always be people who cannot handle any type of noise. They should not go live in an apartment. I think the judge did very well. Y.

  14. As of lately my favorites are the brand Platino "luxe fata". They are opaque and very shiny and soft. And they last a long time. Only minus is the price. 32 euro's, but the past year I have hardly worn anything else and still did not have to throw any. They have a seam in the back, and in two we (on my wife they look even better) had to make an easy repair. Apart from that I like Woolford and Oroblu, but since we have the Platino's wearing the others is probably down to 25%. Y.
