  1. If I'm going out in heels, I do not have any kind of backup as I have made my decision. Today (in full daylight) after work, I got gasoline at a very busy gas station and then went to Target, browsed, bought a few things and then went home.

I went into the men's room (wc for our British friends) as soon as I entered Target and immediately thereafter, two Target employees who I had seen outside, entered and went about whatever they were doing. Coincidence - I don't think so; did they get something to see - sure did! I was wearing 3 1/4 inch Steve Madden pointy toe black leather ankle boots with a stiletto hell with at least 1" of the heel showing under very tight (women's) jeans.

  2. Unfortunately, there is no rule of thumb about size equivalents as the manufacturers do not have a standard between them; each does their own thing. The only thing that I can definately say is that Steve Madden shoes run SMALL so be careful with them.

General rule of thumb is that UK size add two for US women's size.

  3. I don't buy / wear heels because I see someone else in them; it would be because I like them. Most of what I buy are from eBay or catalogs and most do not have a model.

That does not preclude liking the look of someone wearing heels but that is not the prime mover at all.

  4. But the world as a whole needs to wake up and get over the ludicrous gender division when it comes to clothing, i.e. only men should wear this while only women wear that. It's all so ridiculous to me.

Jeff, this is exactly the conversation I had with my wife yesterday. She grudgingly goes along with the clothes, boots etc. at home in limited doses but was not very happy about (well see the nail polish for men thread).

Anyway, I mentioned to her all of the styles women wear now that were men's - thigh high boots, high heels, stockings, wigs, and so on. She heard it but still wasn't all that happy about it. We all live to survive another day!!

  5. The wife and I went to the manicurist today; she had an appointment and when we were there, I said to her that if they can take me, I'll do the manicure/pedicure as she was and I had to wait anyway.

Well, they took me and my wife and I had the pedicure at the same time. Now I had black nail polish on the toe nails to start with and therefore expected the same on the way out. My wife tried to get me to get clear but I went for the black, even after some insistence on her part. I went for clear on the fingernails so met her half way!

  6. Nylons / stockings / pantyhose are one of the great inventions. They are so comfortable, feel so silky and smooth, it almost makes one drool! Out of my entire footwear ensemble, there are maybe two pairs that I could wear without them, but I prefer the sensation with them.

    Sure beats men's socks!!!!

  7. Attached is a very sad story that is somewhat self-explanatory. These vintage size US 12 Frederick's of Hollywood (real) patent leather boots, 5 1/4" metal heel were in the closet in Florida. They had already had a little bit of cracking when I got them three years ago, but look at the intense damage from the heat!

As that is only a part time home, the air conditioning system only kicks when it is over 85 degrees F.

Another caveat is for PVC - when it is hot, the color can stain an adjacent pair.

Words to the wise - watch out for the heat with your footwear collection or you'll be very sorry!

  8. Jeff, the blades are still around but you have to look for them. I've had that pair for about two years or so. I'll post pics later during the week. Blades are usually in the more "mannish" styles. Try Shoe Metro or Gotham City Online, both on eBay or 6PM.com
  9. Those boots are the ones that I wanted to wear over the jeans as in the pic on the drive to Florida last week but I wasn't alone to do so as my wife came with me. Otherwise, I would have gone to the restaurants, gas stations, motels, etc. just like that!
  10. Thanks for the thumbs up guys. Actually, I went back to the same mall the very next night wearing similar jeans and size 12 4" blade type black ankle boots with a square toe, certainly more "mannish." I first went to the same outlet mall in Florida to Super Target, found nothing of interest and then went to Burlington Coat Factory where I bought a fantastic pair of jeans (will post a pic after I have them shortened).

To be very truthful, there were people that certainly noticed although the blade heel boots have been re-heeled and don't CLICK CLICK CLICK as they Colin Stuarts do. You do feel "different" or "out of the ordinary" and certainly you can feel some of the vibes. But as I posted earlier, I would be in heels all of the time if I had my druthers.

Jeff, I had mentioned that I had been planning on driving to Florida and that I did do; but the difference is that my wife drove down with me and that precluded a lot of heeling adventures up and down the eastern seaboard. I had brought the "Gallivant" boots with me and if I had been driving alone, would have worn them OVER THE JEANS AND INTO RESTAURANTS, ETC.

But, I only had some free time in FL and here we are!

As an aside, in the airport today in Charlotte, NC, there was a woman wearing Nine West Gallivant brown snakeskin stretch knee high boots over white pants - the same ones I bought for my wife! The wife appreciated this little vinette!

  11. My wife sometimes calls me "girlielegs" and I'm of a similar opinion although they're a little thinner than I'd like (most boot calf widths are too large).

Now, fair's fair - waiting on your pics LailaLily!!

  12. Straight and happily married. The knowledge that girls have all the cool clothes, doesn't make me gay anymore than it makes me a rocket scientist.

Succinct, accurate and to the point! I echo the thought!
