Mike, be careful of wearing them in the bath. The leather may be soaked by the shoe maker but that's before they are assembled. Have you tried heating them up with a hairdryer and then putting them on with some thickish socks for an hour or so and then repeating if needed? When you then put them back on but with thin nylons the difference can be amazing. I have managed to save a few pair of shoes that would take many a painful wear to stretch to the same degree. I live in Brighton. Get in touch if you want. Cheers, Ben

Susie Lau tries Noritaka Tatehana heel less heels.

I posted a video of a group of fashion women trying out his heels.

Alix, The shoes you posted are more of a trick of the eye than you think. If you look at the point where the heel touched the floor its not that different from a 'normal' heel. Plus if you factor in that they are probably well designed and balanced I would think you might be pleasantly suprised how 'easy' they would be to walk in.

Heelster, you make it sound like a chore to go and do something that should be great fun.

Shafted, The stiletto is your ultimate. Saying they just need a higher stiletto is part of the reason many women want to try something else. I don't think my friends take their shoes for granted. Many of them are seasoned heel wearers. I think they are simply telling the truth about market saturation of ever higher spindly heels. I personally have never seen the stiletto as the be all and end all of shoe design. Sure they look pretty but there is room for all heel styles. I had a damn good wander around Selfridges shoe hall on Tuesday afternoon and I felt far more drawn to the quirkier shoes. I picked up and studied almost every shoe (and there were hundred and hundreds of them). If given the choice I would probably take a devastatingly well conceived wedge or chunky heel over a stiletto. As I said before I like it when designers try out idea, even if they don't work. I have attached a collage of shoes that right now, if given the choice, I would far rather wear than 'normal' stilettos. Sure stilettos are super elegant, but sometimes they have an almost brutal and obvious air to them. Luckily we don't have to make one choice forever as I belive that we are living in the best time ever for shoe design.

Many of my female friends have declared they 'are so bored of stilettos'.

Pete, What size feet do you have? If they are within the range of the average womens shoe shop then you can buy some shoes from almost any fashionable shop. Go into a shop and try some heels on. It's the best way to avoid disappointment.

I quite like them. What I find almost hilarious is that there are so many blogs and videos where people can't understand that they are no different to walk in than 'normal' platforms.

A really sweet video of a group of women trying out Noritaka Tatehana's shoes.

I think if you put them on eBay with a buy it now of £50 inc postage you will sell them within a month. They are pretty unique. Don't put Giuseppe Zanotti in the title though as they'll get pulled down.

I'm glad designers change things around and try new things. Some of the ideas don't work but sometimes they do and even if they don't they might inspire others to do it and make it work... You don't have to buy them if you don't like them.

Puffer, I'm really shocked that they felt that way. What narrow minded fools they are. I wonder how they would react if David Bowie gave them a ring and asked for some shoes? Would they take an order from a male to female transexual? Would they take an order from a woman with size 42 feet? Do they want any business at all? Oh well... at least we have designers like Natacha Marro who are not afraid of boundary pushing.

Heelguy. Just keep on doing it. I'm sure that all will work out. You have done so much in so little time and for that I take my hat off to you.

They look similar to lots of shoes that pop up on eBay. Milanoo has a slightly dodgy reputation and it's possible that they might be 'stolen' from another website.

Puffer, Is the Roger & Sarah Adams post still on this site? I'd love to read it as I remember their shoe shop in Brighton. I am suprised they said men shouldn't wear their heels as they seeemed to be part of the alternative lifestyle in the late 70s and early 80s that made Brighton the Bohemian place it currently is. Roger & Sarah Adams were friends with some of my parents crowd... Some of my parents friends were and still are completely unshockable and have done and still do things that would shock and possibly terrify many of today's edgy trendsetters.

Thanks for the video. Good stuff.

People have been doing this for years with houses and car and such. eBay is full of conversion kits to give cars the BMW 'angel halo eye' look.

Make them into a massive art piece and hang them on the wall!
-
I think anyone with a little style and attitude could easily pull that off in the right part of a world class town. I don't think there's anything hookerish about it. He's dressed more like a middle class, middle aged, trendy mum!
-
Wow. I'm genuinely impressed at the quality of them.

W giraffe, Do you have the actual shoes in your possession? I'm intrigued as to how they look. Can we have some pics?

Super congratulations for the step into the real world. My 1st real heeling was to leave the house and go to London for the weekend and the only shoes I took were 3.5 inch skinny cuban heeled brogue boots. I was the same as you. Just go out and wear the bloddy things. Nothing happened apart from people loving my shoes and bravery. Re the party: I think it's definitely public if it's a venue where you will meet people that you have never met before.

My original point was along the lines of 'do something that's not 30 years out of date and actually shock people for the better'. Maybe Madonna needs to just piss off if this is the best she can do.
Any Idea Where These Are From?

Thanks Bunnyrocks! I had a feeling they were by Pleaser... Found a better photo of them... and... I wish they had been by a designer such as Fendi as they would have been far more elegant. I'm not a fan of the proportion of Pleasers Bordello shoes. I bought a couple of pairs of Bordellos to re sell and they were so ungainly and uncomfortable. I love the shape of the attached Fendi snake heels.
