  1. Fair point Foxyheels, but it's still 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. I should have put a couple of smileys in my post. Sorry for any brusqueness. I wasn't trying to stir the pot. I was only defending the shoes They have done nothing wrong : )

  2. Sorry guys, I meant to say... I just bought the attached Carvela/Kurt Geiger shoes on Ebay for £15. They ended at a silly time. My girlfriend will probably wear them a few times and then we'll re sell them on Ebay, hopefully for a profit. That's the great thing about Ebay. If you know what you're doing you can wear clothes virtually for free. I've attached them this time.

  3. Thanks for that link. Louboutin is a thieving magpie (like almost all fashion designers), but he makes some damn cool shoes.

I love the comment below the article:

Like all unwalkable and unwearable "sexy" stilts, these reduce women to behaving like altered, trained animals that men have sex with. Completely ridiculous and misogynistic. What is the male equivalent of torturous heels? Oh yeah, that's right, there isn't one.

I completely agree with the comment, I was brought up as a feminist after all! But I still love high heels, both on me and on women. Before people argue, think about it. It's true. All the uncomfortable but 'sexy' clothes are for women.

Maybe the men wearing heels issue will be of great interest to feminists as it levels the playing field a little. Oh what fun life is!

  4. It depends on a few factors. I buy from shops if the shoes speak to me or the shop has a sale on. I buy mostly from Ebay as you can grab some seriously cheap bargains there. I just bought the attached Carvela/Kurt Geiger shoes on Ebay for £15. They ended at a silly My girlfriend will wear them a few times and then we'll re sell them on Ebay. I also peruse the online shops and buy shoes in the sales. I've hardly ever bought full priced shoes as I don't see the point as by waiting a little you can almost always get the same shoe for half price. I buy quite a few pairs and wear then until Im bored of the and sell them on Ebay and usually make a profit or a very small loss. Oh I'm a UK 7 or 8 EU 40 or 41 so I can buy anything the shops are willing to sell.

  5. Great looking boots but this is where we are a little jealous of guys with smaller feet. I'm only UK9/EU43 but Aldo's largest size is supposedly UK9/EU42 and it feels more like EU41 in several pairs of boots I have tried.

ALDO sizes are very small. I'm a UK 7ish (EU40) and have some shoes that are UK 6.5 (39.5) and fit me perfectly. With Aldo I'm a UK 8 in most of their styles.

Don't even go near their Atlantic City style from a couple of years back. I had a pair in size UK 8 that were murderous. They were more like a UK 6. I bought them off Ebay (to re sell) for about £10 and sold them for £55. I was honest with my auction and made clear that there's no way a size 8 foot would fit into a size 8 Atlantic City shoe.

It's not just me. My girlfriend has issues with ALDO too. She has slim feet and is also a UK 7. I bought her some shoes from ALDO (They were called Fawson) and they were too big length wise but she couldn't feel her toes after trying them on for 10 minutes!!!

It's a shame as ALDO sell some really great styles and lots are very strongly styled and quite masculine apart from the heels.

  6. Are you looking at the images that I collated from the original post?

You find my comment offensive, yet you wade in with:

I see nothing different to the dismal range of styles that we already have to suffer in the shops. Most of those are hideous in my opinion.

  7. Maybe it's the hyper male image lots of blacks guys seem to be fixated on exuding. I have a few male gay black friends and they say they get the most trouble from heterosexual black guys. It's funny as black guys can 'get away' with far more outlandish clothing than most white men. Just go to an African wedding to see some of the amazing clothes and shoes some of the men wear. In fact many of the cultures that mock androgeny and the gender blurring that's going on today seem to have the most men that wear skirts and dress shaped garments as 'national dress'. Also if you can single out someone who shouts and rants and have a real good talk with them they often say they do it to be popular. That old classic 'bullies are the biggest cowards' routine. I view the world as lots of conflicting cultures and nationalities. Once upon a time there was the developed world and the non developed world. Now we have a shrinking 'jet age' planet with instant telecommunication and the internet making it smaller by the day. Enlightened people see the opportunities and unenlightened people see the threats and maybe get jealous of those that embrace the new and exciting. It's easier to stay in your 'rut' and go with the local crowd than do something that makes you happy and other people think. p.s. When feminism first took hold, some of the most vocal opponents were women!

  8. Shame as they made us some nice shoes. Awful service was always mandatory though. I had to ring Kos about 4 or 5 times to get one pair sorted out. A friend saw some of the shoes we had. She loved them and wanted to buy maybe 3 or 4 pairs. I told her about the problems we had and she said she couldn't be bothered. She is the kind of woman who will go into Kurt Geiger and throw £300 at a couple of pairs of shoes on a whim. Burlesque Blue seriously missed out with her. We sell things quite often on Ebay. I think I care more about a customer of some shoes that sold for £3 than B Blue do for someone who spent £120.

  9. It just gets worse. I received the boots back today. To cut a long story short they are a little better than before but they look like they have been done hastily. The heel has been filled and resprayed but it's still awful and covered in tiny hairline scratches.. If had done the repair myself I would still be miserable. I took the boots in, in perfect condition (albeit with the heel removed) and now they look tatty. Thinking of getting the heels replaced at my own cost and sending them the bill. Boo to Timpson.

  10. Jess - could I ask what experience you have of other heel heights? I'm sure you must have had some other very high heels before you went for ballet boots!

My point being - I'm looking at buying a pair of ballets myself and was wondering what the difference in wearing/walking was compared to say, 6"/6.5" stilettos? Any info would be much appreciated :)

It's completely different to 'normal' heels. Like comparing skiing to driving... You don't use the ball of your foot at all.

  11. Hi Puffer, Thanks for the post.

The boots are 5 inches and have a very, very slim internal platform... No more than half an inch including the sole material.

I have posted the boots directly to James Timpson on Lee's advice. I shall see what happens next.

I live at Seven Dials and sadly all we have now is wine bars, shops like Harry Enfield's 'I Saw You Coming' and the Coop 'supermarket'.

    Cheers,

    Ben
