Thanks, Jeremy. Interestingly enough, I said they were going to be a present for my sister. The store clerk didn't suspect a thing.

More likely the clerk did not care!

Don't bother to make excuses, just buy them and offer no explanation. The clerks either don't care, or they know and don't care.

Well gentlemen - -Yes, they may not be considered the high heel of the day, but as of late, I haven't seen anything at a local store that high on the men's side of the aisle.

If they are comfortable, and you like them, then it's all good.

I have found that most local stores are pretty limited, mostly hikers and dress shoes. Take a look on DSW.com on the men's side and you will find plenty Chelsea bots with as high or higher heels as the OP's boot. I believe he is getting a bit of grief because of the title of the post suggests that the boots have high heels. Around here we see rancher and farmer type guys wearing western boots that are much higher.

@Pierre and others who made similar comments - we're not all in the same boat as you folks. some of us might be at different "stops" along the journey. I don't think that's a reason to show disrespect, and I don't think that's what this forum is about.

And thanks to those who gave encouraging comments :)

Sure, but these look like "normal" boots that any guy would wear, virtually no heel. You can buy men's western boots with heels two times the height. Look in any shoe store and you can find men's boots that look just like those posted.

  4. We swap tools and help each other all the time so no idea why he was reluctant to borrow the generator. He has keys to my house and shop and watches the place if we are gone. I really think he was so focused on getting his boat's bilge pump working that he just was not thinking.

  5. During a heavy summer thunderstorm the power went out. My neighbor came running over looking for some pipe fittings. I asked him what he was trying to do and he said he was trying to get his boat's bilge pump plumbed in to use as a sump pump to keep water out of his basement. They had been carrying water out in buckets! I took him out to the garage, handed him a heavy extension cord and to plug in his sump pump and told him I would be over in a minute with my generator. He hesitated and said he didn't want to borrow my generator. I told him he didn't have a choice and stop arguing! I filled up the fuel tank, started it up in the shop, out of the rain, then rolled it over to his house, got him plugged in and told him he could bring it back the next day. It struck me funny that he didn't want to borrow it, but it was close to flooding the lower level of his home.

  6. I can understand why some people would have issue with thigh high boots in  school. I also feel it got out of hand. She could have been told the boots were inappropriate and not wear them again. No reason to make a big fuss over it, but you are working in an environment with a wide range of people, best to dress a bit  on the conservative side. I wonder if the school had a dress code for teachers?

Many people are extremely conservative and think thigh high boots are warn only by hookers and strippers. My wife owns a couple pair and rarely wears them as she feels they are a bit much for some nights out, depending on where we go.

  7. Yes, I agree with the other's. Give it up, she has moved on already and any contact you initiate just makes her angry and drags you down. I know it is tough to do, but just walk away and try forget her and move on.

Your life will be better the sooner you acknowledge that it is over. I would not even bother sharing beers with her dad, split all ties and move on.

I looked at Only Maker and did not find what I am looking for. The style in the pic you posted seems to be discontinued. The Pleasers  I am looking at are leather, they have just a couple styles that are.

It might be my imagination, but it seems to me that high heels have tamed down as far as appearance and heel height in the last yer or two. I find it harder to find the 6" heels in either boots of pumps that seemed to be available all over a year or so.
