  1. This is quite dangerous as a topic, you know... :) So let's discuss customer service. I can appreciate good customer service. I've been a part of the giving end of that for years. Now, I won't get into sushi as a discussion topic, but I would like to say, for my favorite restaurant the customer service is spot on. Why? Well, the people who run the place are very friendly. They are warm and inviting. Peter, the Samurai chef of a host, oversees everything, making sure the sushi chefs are doing a good job, and talking with customers. He isn't afraid to give out a free round of sake when needed. He gives out boxes of Pocky, a Japanese cookie stick treat. And he remembers my sister and me, even more so after we had him teaching us Sushi making class with his staff one Saturday afternoon where he doled out the hot sake as if it were water. MmMMMm Tonight, Peter even ordered us up a special sushi roll with a brief word to the chefs at the sushi bar where we were sitting. We didn't know what he was doing, and suddenly, this very fancy and expensive sushi roll was given to us. No thought to anything except recognizing his customers for their loyalty. The staff are friendly, they are attentive, and they too remember us. Even a server who has worked there on and off since we started visiting this restaurant four years ago remembers us and says hi even if she is not our server or even working that night. Even the partner, David, who hasn't been around much in the last while, was back at this restaurant tonight. When we first started frequenting this restaurant shortly after it opened he was always very good about making us feel welcome. And tonight, he remembered us after not seeing us for a long time, not having been there when we were there. He came over, he remembered the company I used to work for, he asked us how we were doing. Of course, we were stuffed when we left. Anmd as always, we felt that we were greatly appreciated for being there. But then, people who are there for the first time, or just another in a great many times, are all treated warmly and with respect. They are happy to have customers, and I can see why they get quite busy. Why the heck can't more companies and people be like that? Why are people so damn cranky? Why do they not see that making people feel welcome and wanted makes things so much better? I have been given rotten customer service by banks, stores, restaurants, utility companies, you name it. Something so simple as a smile and asking if everything is okay can't be that difficult! So does anyone else out there have good and bad stories to share? Me, I am going to pass out now. :o

  2. I'm writing a new article about wearing heels for public consumption on Jenny's site. I will post it here as well, probably in parts. It is a guide for people who have not really worn heels but are looking to wear them most, if not all, of the time. I have the draft done, I did it tonight in a fit of inspiration. Let's hope I can edit it up (easy) and format it for a web style page (not so easy for me). If I can't buy shoes right now for more pictures, I can rely on the one talent I do have that doesn't cost a thing. Well, if I scratch on a wall with a rock, it's totally free, otherwise I need a pen and paper, or a computer, but you get the idea. I've also seen our link on the high heel top 50, Misc site. Just a name. I need to create a banner or something to go there, to show that Jenny's site is not some porn fetish page, but a resource, a place for everyone. That should help keep it up at the top. :)

  3. It's a conspiracy to prevent me from getting shoes. Not that I could afford to buy new shoes, but still, if I could, the conspiracy is in place to stop me! There are some issues some companies have as far as rates and deals and they figure it is easier to stick in the same country because they don't have to do as much figuring. Saves on currency conversaion, extra insurance, taxes, higher shipping rates... there's likely to be a great deal to doing this that we don't know about. I mean, how many things does a business have to pay for when it comes down to it? If they don't have the potential for profit and ease flashed in front of them, they won't bite. Ah heck, I like the conspiracy much better.

  4. When slings fall down it's a major pain. The feel of the sling around the back of the ankle, hugging, secure, that is a true joy. I think the issue is that the guys like the fallen look, but the feeling is what matters to the girl wearing the shoes. And slingbacks feel so much nicer when in place. At least, they do for me. I mean, why buy slingbacks if you're going to let the slings fall down? It's better to just purchase a cute pair of mules. :)

  5. Still in the top five, yes, but I need to make some time to get the site back to #1. We could use new sponsors, new advertising... Italianheels hasn't been too co-operative in answering e-mails. Of course, I should be finding sponsors for shoes that I enjoy. Let's hope everyone takes time to visit Jenny's pages, member there or otherwise, and just enjoy that hard work she put in to make it a reality.

  6. I have no idea why I am posting this. Maybe it's the wine my sister and I had to cure the stresses of the work week, maybe wearing five and a half inch white stiletto heeled pumps with short sox... oh who cares. A year ago, Firefox and I started to work on bringing back Jenny's page. Jenny put a lot of work into the web site, and the old server had shut it down. We never found out why for certain, just bits and pieces. But we managed to ressurect the site, gathering a few donations and securing a new server. And so, Jenny's dream, so long made reality and then crushed, was reborn as jennyspage.co.uk I think it is worth mentioning now. I mean, without it, there wouldn't be a Jenny's discussion form on Boardhost, and there wouldn't be hhplace.org. So we do need to celebrate it, and Jenny. I know she doesn't post publically all that often, but from time to time she does mail Fox and myself, checking on the child of her imagination, her creation, and just making sure we're taking care of it. So here's to Jenny, who really brought a lot of us together, and here's to the site which she started that led to the creation of this great community, and really, a great trend in a world of high heeled wearing and appreciation. We miss you J.M., and we hope you visit us again, even if just to say hi. Fox and I may not have much time these days, but we will do what we can to keep her dream alive. Hopefully, we can all join in to keep it breathing, growing, and flourishing. :-?

  7. Interesting styles, but nothing that appealed to me jumped out of the pictures. However, it shows continued variety and an eagerness for loftier heights, which will translate across the board for the shoe designs that get out there. And that is good for all of us. :-?

  8. So, do people like those short ruffled socks with heels? Just trying to get ideas for when I do members updates and the like. After all, I need to appeal to everyone's tastes. Of course, it's all for the benefit of Jenny's site. But since there are pictures here of Scotty's wife, and people seem to be receiving them well enough, well... let's discuss it for a bit. :-?

  9. I'd wear them. The heel doesn't always have to be five inches or higher for me. Depends on what the day will bring, and sometimes, a day might require a bit of a lower heel for enhanced mobility. Besides, they're cute!

  10. Swearing is something I avoid, but it has a place. Doesn't it come from a more gutteral expression of language, well, in English anyway? I mean, old Norse and Anglo Saxon and Germanic terms which are more gutteral sounds. Sometimes, screaming feels good. And so I think that is wear swearing comes from. A release. Of course, using it casually in every day conversation like some people do is far beyond what it should be. And that's annoying. Porn, well, big yawn there. But I think we are different, since a lot of reports say that porn items are still the most popular on the internet. I think that there is a point of evolution that we are reaching, and for some, they aren't there yet, leaving their primal instics, which are important, to more basic displays such as porn, instead of getting it more in touch with the mental aspects and going for more of an erotic, suggestive type of stimulation. Those are the ones who don't understand things like heel wearing and other things we all seem to enjoy in some way or another. It all depends, then, on where we are mentally, and how we perceive the world. Of course, if people choose to enjoy something, and no one else is hurt, who cares. As much as people are looking for acceptance and understanding here, we do have to decide that even if we dislike porn, others enjoy it and have that right. We may have members here who enjoy pornography, which is fine for them. However, I don't think, from the reaction so far, that anyone would dare to voice such an opinion for fear of being mobbed about it. Until all parents are open minded enough to have talks with their children, the unrealistic pornography that floods places like the internet will flourish, because sometimes, young people are going to feel that it is the place where they are going to find what they need to know.

  11. Your message didn't say "I want girls opinions only" and really, we do like everyone to comment, since there are guys here who wear heels and have good stories and information about this sort of thing. I'll slide it over to the Everybody section. :-?

  12. A thought, if you'll indulge me a moment here... What if, and yes, this is just a theory, what if shoe comapnies lie about the heel height? What if they list the heels as lower to promote sales? I mean, let's face it. The internet is this bubbling cauldron of sales activity. And women will see these really great shoes. I mean, just look at the examples we have. Trendy, nice heels... but most women may not feel they can wear heels that are high. So if you had all of these wonderful designer shoes and you wanted them to sell, would you take such a factor as women's confidence into consideration? Would you fudge the measurements? Let's face it. 3 inch heels aren't as intimidating for women who are not used to wearing them as, oh, 4 or 5 inch heels. We've seen that in reviews, people are saying that the heel height is higher than listed. And we can say the measurement is done differently, or claim any number of factors. But what if it is just marketing? I know, it works the opposite for people like us who crave heels that are higher. A desire that just consumes the soul when thinking about that next pair of shoes. But if we are a minority, and sales are key, maybe, just maybe, they under value the hei9ght of heels for a more commercial site like that, to win over the majority of women who feel that high is 3 inches. And so, they end up wearing higher. The designers are going to make shoes with higher heels. And if you're trying to sell them to a world where many women feel "I'd break an ankle wearing those" even though it is not true, would you flub on a few things to get people to spend the money and wear those wonderful shoes? Just a thought. Big thought, apparently.

  13. This is a bit unusual, I'm sure.

Being a bit down, and not really able to go out and buy shoes, I decided to surf around this internet thing, and check out some more fashionable shoes.

I ran across Zappos.com which features a lot of shoes that are name brand. A good indicator of trends.

And I did searching through the high heel category for more fashionable boots and shoes.

What I found was that the majority of shoes considered high heel are three inches. Three to three and a half.

There are some wonderful looking shoes. Shoes to drool over. Not just basic pumps, but straps, ornaments, multi toned, thin heels... but all mid heeled for height rather than high.

And since I really don't like to wear a heel height below four inches, it's not much fun.

So what I will do is post some links for those few shoes listed as having heels 4 inches or higher.

So we can see what all the hub bub is about in the fashion world for heel heights that seem to suit the tastes of our members here.

The link will lead to a new window that gives the sales page, details, and you can explore different colors and sizes, prices, and what have you.

All images are from the zappos.com web site, naturally.

This should give us a few things to discuss.

(Edited to make a picture work. FF)

  14. This picture was taken at work. It's a pair that gets a lot of attention.

I am sitting on a trolley.

And yes Arno, very true, and I do offer to coach people. I tell anyone with an interest that I could teach them, and just repeat it when they deny that they could ever wear heels. Of course, girls only with regard to those discussions, although I would certainly help give pointers to a guy as well if one asked.

  15. Hey Bubba, They're easy to buy from a lot of sites out there, including the main Jante one. The trouble is juggling the bills long enough to get the money into paypal and then make the purchase. :-? But the good news is that the Canadian Dollar has been doing well, so the exchange rate should be good enough. Once I get a new pair, well, it's going to be one of those issues where I'll have to really think about which is my favorite pair of shoes again. Competition can be good, in this sort of situation.
