  1. Flip Flops or Crocs hahahah

I know they were going for a slightly modenist look but that would probably be pushing the envelope a bit too far.

I'm not much of a royalist but I have to say she did look absolutely stunning, understated but very beautiful. Best of luck to them both.

Apparently she did wear white satin and lace Alexander Mcqueen high heels, you could just make them out as she got out of the coach when going into Buckingham palace.

There was loads of heel spotting opportunities on the wedding coverage, very high heels on Princess Beatrice and Euginie (approaching 5 inches!!!).

Last night she had a pair of black patent wedge heels on, which looked a bit unflatterring and made her feet look big. A bit of a let down to the usual high heel classic balck pumps or black suede heeled boots she normally wears.

  2. I remember in one of the naked gun films, Pricilla Presley was shown on the top of a step ladder, Leslie Nielsen is looking up as though he his looking up her skirt and remarks 'Nice Beaver' with that PP produces a stuffed Beaver which she hands to LN, she has taken it from a high shelf. But back to topic the scene shows a close up of her legs in which she is wearing a pair of Red high heel pumps. PP has really nice shapely legs by the way.

  3. Just a straw poll to see if things are any different from the time the original thread was posted............ About 50 models UK10/11 are available on bigshoeboutique.co.uk (mostly heels) Well over 60 models of heeled shoes in a UK10 wide on Evans.co.uk So some choice (didnt check magnusshoes) but would imagine a few on there. So tiny compared to mainstream size ranges but its picking up and as more younger females are getting taller and subsequently larger feet, will only increase, economic downturn or not.

  4. I'm suprised there are not more shops doing larger womens sizes in Amsterdam, as far as i know (and i stand to be corrected) aren't dutch women supposed to be the tallest (on average) in the world so by that reckoning a fair majority would take a larger than average size....just a thought.

  5. I was wracking my brain trying to think where i remember the brand from...then it came to me..... they used to regulary advertise in of all places Exchange and Mart

  6. Well believe it or not, i do still have the boots!!! They have been safely packed away for years. I might if a generous offer was made consider selling these lovelies  They are still in brand new condition. Here are some pictures of them. Size is US13M or a UK10 or small UK11. If there is enough interest i'll open a thread on the selling forum as i think the admins will probably think it inappropriate for me to tout on this one. I also have a very similar pair in camel with same heel height but are made by The highest Heel also in a US13 if anyone is interesterd i'll put some photos of them up as well.

  7. I found some great pictures of shoes from these periods on Getty Images picture archive site. Lots of close ups including some amazing low cut heels and unusual heels. Start from the link page and go back to page 2191 using the page back and forward button at the bottom right of each page. Be aware they are watermarked so some of the image is obscured when enlarged. Enjoy!!!

Pages before that are progressively newer pictures (ie page one is from pictures taken a few days ago)

Couple of examples check out the hideous winkle picker shoes in 2nd picture, they look more like clown shoes!!!

  8. IF your remember his name, why don't you look for him on some web sights and see if he is there! Just a thought.

I just did a quick search of his name on facebook and bingo pulled this up, i'm certain its the same chap, i am going out now but will investigate further!!!!! The Alex and Aristocrat were 2 local pubs in the area near to work

Does anyone remember Ken N***** from Canvey. Always wore white cowboy boots. He spent his lunch hours at the Aristocrat and evenings at the Alex. Where is he now?

  9. Unfortunately never saw any trace of him after he left in late 81' He used to wear "Wrangler" made boots before which were a bit more conventional male footwear but still had a heel of over 2.5in. As i said he was a small man so probably liked the extra bit of height to give him confidence. Never saw him wear anything femanine looking and as i said although they had a high heel they did have a masculine look, ie something a rockstar would wear on stage. The heel looked even higher than it was too as i dont think he took more than a UK6 or 7 in shoes. Still took courage to wear them considering the era i was talking about. The black suede boots he had were cool, they had a pointier toe and a contrasting wood effect stack heel of roughly the same height of the white ones mentioned, details are a bit sketchy as he only wore them a couple of times as they were his going out boots! I wonder if he still wears this style of shoe today and if he kept his look too, i guess he would be in his early 50's now.

  10. I was reminicing with some colleagues at work the other day about the old days as i had just completed 30 years with the British Civil Service, I'm 47 now and have been there (not in the same office naturally) man and boy since 16 years old. As i was thinking back an old memory came back that i hadnt thought of in years that was high heel related. In the first office I started working in (this would be 1980/1) there was a guy I worked a couple of desks away who wore high heeled boots, we are lookin at 4in plus here (no word of a lie). I'll go into more detail...... This guy who's name was Ken was a few years older than me, probably in his early 20's. His hair looked like Ian Anderson out of Jethro Tull, in that it was long and flew out in all directions and a whispy tash and beard, he wore loads of jewellery mainly bangles, rings and a sharks tooth pendant. Mainly T-shirts with a denim jacket and very tight denim jeans, i do remember once he wore a purple velvet jacket and a linen shirt unbuttoned to just above his chest. He had a very individual style, but the one thing that stood out amongst all others was his footwear. I cant remember much about what he wore previously although i seem to remember they were always boots and mainly cowboy styled and had taller than normal cuban heels. One day he came in with a pair of bright white boots with a 4in... yes 4in plus stacked heel, thicker than a stiletto but thinner than a cuban heel. The toes were almond shaped. It was hard to tell if they were womens boots, they could have passed as them, but they had a masculine look to them too, so could have been purchased from a specialist fashion shop as he did have an individual style. He was quite a small guy probably about 5ft 4in so didnt look overly tall in these boots and he walked very well in them. I later found out that he had another pair of stacked high heeled boots in black suede that he wore when he went out. The thing is we worked in a high rise office and the floor i worked on must have had well over 120 people on it. No one batted an eyelid when he walked down in the office even the older members of staff (remember this is back in 1981),they must have been used to his dress style and thought nothing off it. He was totally confident and self assured in him self and had a generally laid back attitude to life, and as we worked in the middle of the town center he would frequently be seen by loads of shoppers and students when out on his lunch breaks, he didnt seem to give a hoot by any stares he would have got. I worked with this chap for about a year and he must have worn these boots constantly for over 6 months of these before he left to work elsewhere. I wish I had a photo of this chap as I have never worked with anyone like him before or since but remember in those days we didnt have camera phones or digital cameras. A totally regular guy who did his own thing and to hell with what anyone thought. Good on him! I was too young to have worn my own heels back then , that wasnt until i reached my early 20's but i am sure he would have been cool with it!! BTW the chap was as straight as they come and had a regular g/f for some years. Its amazing to think for all the time i have been on High Heel Place, its only now i remember this story, incredible. Ken was definately ahead of his time:smile:

  11. I just bought these from Evans, reduced in the sale from the original £35 to £8 net of all discounts!

They are nothing special in terms of quality - faux black suede from China. Although a UK11EEE fit, they are not generous in sizing but are soft enough to give a little. The heel is exactly 3.5" and I think they could pass muster under jeans for street-heeling - members' comments appreciated.

These boots are still available in black or brown in 11 and a couple of other sizes. Some other sale boots and shoes in larger sizes too that may be worth a look - but get in quick!

My evans cowboy boots arrived today, you are definately right about the sizing, not as generous as their normal sizing but they fit OK. Well worth the £12 all in though. Thanks again for the heads up!

  12. Thanks mate, How did you find the link for the cowboy boots as i couldnt find them navigating through the evans site normally. BTW i have also got a pair of the priceless boots in your link in a UK10 and yes they are generously sized, also they mention in some of the customer reviews about the shaft being quite baggy too. I regulary trawl both the Evans and Big Shoe Boutique / Priceless sites for shoes but unless I really must have them I wait a while as they inevitably some down in price quickly, although on a couple of occasions some models were so popular they had sold out in certain sizes before they had a chance to be discounted. If you are patient though some real bargains are to be had:yummy:

  13. You guys are so lucky there in the UK.

Well I am sure if you see something you like that one of us members based in the UK would be able to get them on your behalf and ship them to you if you pay the shipping costs, even me. Did you know that Evans the store i have purchased all the boots i have posted in this thread (a favorite for some of us guys including myself who fall outside the normal women size range - 9 or 10 UK wide fitting) ship overseas and im pretty sure South Africa is one of the places they do.

Also I have advised one of your fellow countrymen recently of how to go about ordering some boots from the USA as I gave him a name of a contact I use occasionally myself when I like a pair of shoes I can't get through the normal channels ie Ebay. He has followed it through and the contact is purchasing and shipping the boots to him very soon :silly:
