Lady Gaga is wearing a pair in her latest video (Bad romance).

Puffer,
It does appear that this group is taking the bigger footed more seriously than anyone else and it is notable that it is usually the larger sizes that they run out of first. I'm sure they have noted this and that is why they are slowly expanding the models on offer at the larger end.
Just looked at the reviews for the detune pumps on Big Shoe Boutique and the latest couple are definately from men, like you say Thighboots i dont think this is lost on BSB, so with any luck they will make more of their range available in the larger sizes (10/11). Since the detune model has come out i have bought 8 pairs in various colours and some duplicates especially since the price cuts (some models are down to £8.00), i love them, and for the money are pretty well made. I dont wear my heels outside so theoretically should last longer. Evans used to get most of my business...not anymore.

Which shops in the UK high street sell womens' size 11 or 12 boots (fairly wide)?
Thank you in advance.
Priceless shoes (used to be Barratts) I am pretty sure they have a large size section in their high st shops, failing that Big Shoe Boutique to buy online, see link here:

I've measured them and the heel is bang on 10cm for a size 10, cant say what a size 11 is as i sent mine back. Talking of big shoe boutique, they are selling a satin peep toe platform pump (model name octave) for £10!!!! Now I normally i hate open toe shoes but these are really nice, so i have ordered the black , cobalt blue and pink. Effectively 3 pairs for the cost of one if you were to look for a similar pair elsewhere, an absolute bargain. Its good that barratts have recognised that larger sizes sell well too and are upping their range, i used to have to buy Evans as that was all there was in mainstream models in a 10 but with prices like these i will be buying more, and whats more for the money they are quite well made.

I've bought the detune shoes (4 inch courts £10-£13 depending on colour) in 6 colours... Red Suede, Black Suede, Purple Suede, Grey Suede, Black Croc and Pink. You cant go wrong for the money. I bought a size 11 (i am a 9-10) and found them too big so they should fit to size. They arent built to last but there are not many places doing 10 -11s this cheap. Recommended.

Well i have to say i was suprised and disappointed by some of the replies on this thread. Granted Susan Boyle may not have supermodel looks and the makeover she has had may be more for making her more acceptable to an image concious public. But for a forum where for the main preaches that everyone should have freedom to wear (ie High heels)whatever one wants with respect and without discrimination, this smacks of hypocracy of the lowest level. If we think this of Susan Boyle what hope do we expect people to be more tolerant and accepting of our fashion choices. Out of all the comments only William (bluegrass made no specific comments related to this point) had the backbone to support the fact that she has a right like anyone to dress like this rather than because she doesnt conform to the norm she should remain a dowdy old spinster and dress as such. Am i over reacting to light hearted comments or does this go a bit deeper?

There is an item in the Mail on Sunday about a TUC motion banning high heels in the workplace. What are other forum members take on this. Is it sexist and demeaning to women to be forced to wear high heels or is it another example of the Nanny State?

Anyone seen the latest interview on NBC of Susan Boyle of Britains Got Talent Fame. Apart from the considerable makeover check out her heels. They look like at least 4 1/2 hidden platform pumps. They appear several times in the following clip although they are not all that clear (0.25 onwards is probably the best view). I bet she wouldnt have considered wearing them a year at all ago, probably couldnt have afforded them either if they are genuine CL pumps.

I have the black snakeskin ones too and also looking at getting the latest red pair listed today in an 10
Andi
As luck would have it i managed to get a pair of the black snake skin ones too on ebay, they had only been on auction for 4 hrs, they look really nice. £25 though but they were new and looked dead nice

These are my latest shoes and I must say the picture doesn't do any of them justice. They are from Evans and were only £28 per pair. They all have an amazing fit and look.
Andi
I got a pair of the light ones too, all sold out in 9 and 10, love the black ones too may have to get them, agreed amazing look, evans have some stylish shoes lately.

This question is directed to our senior members (40+).
Before larger sized female heels became more widely available where did you get your heels from. In the 60's and 70's possibly 80's it was almost impossible to buy womens shoes in mainstream retailers in anything larger than a UK7 rarely a UK8. What choices were open to you? I would imagine as the internet did not exist specialist shops would have been hard to find they would have had a limited range too. Also where would you have found out about them. I suppose places like Transformation (For TV's etc) would have been one of the places. Also what experiances did our overseas members have finding larger sized womens shoes 20 or more years ago?
It was possible to get nice high heeled shoes in a big size even back in the 1950's.
Check out these lovely Croc Leather Stilletto Pumps in a size 12B US a really big size back then:
They are the first pair of shoes on the page.

Love these and the Black ankle boots with the metal heel maybe a bit to feminine for some. I Would buy them both in an instant though but probably run into hundreds of bucks as they are custom made. Now if payless were to do knock offs in mens large sizes that would be cool. I like the concept of mooTs as its a big step in the right direction of bringing male heel wearing into the mainstream ( although it may still be some way off) but feel that we need a bigger personality with a fan base to match that could really drive it forward rather than a band singer with a cult following. (Remember Martin Degville and Tony James of Sigue Sigue Sputnik -who were heel wearers but didnt really advance the cause of male heel wearing) Whatever, to get a manufacturer like Stuart Weitzman on board can only be good - that alone may help and you never know get other designers on board.
-
I hope they can get through this crisis, I have bought a lot of shoes in their Tall and Small range over the last few years and their styles are really nice and a good alternative to Evans / Essence where also I get my shoes (Size 9/10). Also there is the human cost for all the employees that work for Barratts who could be unemployed should the business fold, I feel sorry for all those who have fallen victim to the credit crunch.

The 2nd pair look like the sort of thing Alexander McQueen would make.
-
It will be interesting to see how many other celebs begin wearing these boots or similar shoes.
Bound to.
You have only got to look at Jo-Lo (High Heeled Timberlands)
Jessica Simpson (Platform and round toe pumps) etc etc
Because of the construction I wouldn't expect cheap knock offs to appear in the shops though ie Payless.....but who knows???

I don't like them and Victoria Beckham wearing them does nothing to enhance that
My 2p's worth. -
The Guy comes from Brazil and appears on TV's 'Brazils Next Top Model"
He has his own web site at:
Its in Portuguese, has a few heel pictures but I couldn't get the videos to play.

I bought a pair of these and to be honest they were not that great, pretty cheaply made and ran very small I got the US14 sizing which they converted to a UK11 and they were really tight in the toe area (yep i know the have extreme pointed toes). I wear a mens 9.5 to UK10 and normally have no trouble fitting in a 10/11. They also felt like they were bowing in the area between sole and heel. Needless to say i put them up pretty sharpish on Ebay as was lucky to recoup most of my money back. Not recommended.

If you like this design then these are much better:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270151401947&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=017
I got this model in a Grey Matt and Tortoise Shell design and these are better mate - though still mass produced in China and they fit better too.

I can testify that the Johannas are stunning shoes, i got 3 pairs in my Size 13 - could not believe my luck that i could find this style of shoe in my size so have stock piled them. I have a thing for these type of shoes as I also bought the Jessica Simpson style round Toe mini platform pumps payless was selling a little while ago in all kinds of colours, because a similar style simply can't be found in the large sizes (UK10/UK11) in the UK.
BTW I think that the Mary Jane heels they are selling at the moment (Joy Baby Doll Pump) are gorgeous - so i've invested in a couple of pairs of those too!

On 12 July, ITV1 in the UK showed a documentary about three very tall teenagers. One was a pretty and self-assured girl from Benenden, Kent, named Tara Savage. Tara had just turned 13 and was 6ft 1in tall and was wearing around size 11 UK in shoes. (Medical opinion was that she would probably grow no taller than 6ft 3in – quite a relief to Tara and her mother, who had feared she might end up nearer 7ft.)
One sequence showed Tara and her mother calmly visiting a shop that supplied clothes and shoes for transvestites and therefore stocked shoes in sizes large enough for Tara – almost her only source of shoes to fit her, according to mum. Apparently, the shop was Fantasy Girl in Folkestone and showed Tara being served by a transvestite, whilst another TV ‘customer’ enquired about shoes – although the Fantasy Girl forum suggests that the whole thing was stage-managed and the customer was a drag artist hired by the programme makers. Nevertheless, the sequence came over as sympathetic and without anyone being ridiculed. The shop manager said that stocks were erratic because her main supplier, in Leicester (Hayway?) had gone out of business and another had been taken over by a tutu manufacturer!
Mum said that Tara’s boarding school allowed the girls to wear court shoes although (unsurprisingly) the heels could not be too high. Tara was shown trying courts and sandals with stilettos 3 – 4” high and apparently bought some. It was interesting (and perhaps inspiring) to see that a very tall teenage girl found help from a shop selling female shoes intended for men and was, despite her height, willing (and seemingly keen) to wear something other than flatties. I wonder how often other women buy ‘men’s female’ shoes, whether from choice or necessity?
I am somewhat suprised that the girls mother was not aware of all the different outlets that could have supplied her daughter with fashionable street style large size shoes other than a shop for TS/TV's who's range is in the main fetish styles, she obviously doesnt use the internet. Magnus, TallGirls, Long Tall Sally, Evans (their 10's can normally fit a standard 11 and sometimes a UK12) or even Ebay. I can only think that she wanted somewhere local so they could be tried on in person but surely there must have been an Evans in their area. It seems that when i read stories of women who have shoe sizes out of the normal range, they live in trainers or mens shoes and have have no idea of the increasing number of outlets that could cater to them.

Good Spot Jo, Unfortunately there was no sound when i tried - did anyone else find that. Beautiful shoes and boots though which more than made up for it

This appeared in Yesterdays (23rd) online edition of the Daily Mail.
Her addiction to vertiginous stilettos is legendary but super-chic Victoria Beckham may soon find herself wearing something a little less flattering on her feet – hospital bandages.
The singer-turned-designer has told friends that her bunions are now so bad she is seriously considering having an operation to remove them.
The scale of Victoria's painful bunion problem was laid bare recently when she was snapped in a pair of spiked Mulberry sandals. Now a friend of the former Spice Girl tells me: 'Victoria has had enough of having bad feet and has made some early-stage enquiries about having her rather unpleasant bunions removed.
'They are causing her a considerable amount of pain, so much so that she thinks the only thing to do is to have surgery. She knows the operation is unpleasant and she will be out of action for a while, but she thinks it may be worth it.
'It is something she will probably have done in the States when the family is fully settled in LA.'
When I bumped into 33-year-old Victoria recently, she candidly confessed her feet were giving her a headache. 'I always wear stilettos but they have given me awful feet,' she said.
'I hate my feet, they are the most disgusting thing about me. Part of the reason I wear such amazing shoes is to take the eye away from my horrid feet and on to the stunning shoes.'
Bunions – a deformity of the big toe joint which grows at an angle to the foot – are the bane of style-conscious women the world over. They can become painful and problematic if they are not treated.
A spokesman for the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists gave an idea of what Posh is in for.
He said: 'The operation takes about an hour and is usually performed under a local anaesthetic. It is important to rest for three days afterwards and stitches are usually removed after two weeks

Are Female Feet Getting Bigger?
in For Everybody

I hope thats not the case or if it is then hope there is an upturn with the recession. Although i am from the UK i buy an awful lot of payless shoes (a friend of mine on this forum based in the usa gets them for me) in a 12w or 13 not so much that they are better quality but for the variety of different styles. If you look on ebay a few traders buy up all the big sizes to resell possibly why there are not many in the shops ,so there definately is enough people buying to make it worth while stocking 12's and 13's otherwise the traders wouldnt do it. So i think there is some weight to the theory of dropping a size is cheaper than making fewer of them.
