  1. Totally have to agree those last pair are totally damn ugly. Anyway got a theory as to how that happens. After centuries of shoe evolution getting more comfortable and more beautiful then comes the urge to be different. And when the ultimate beauty has been achieved then to be different is to be ugly.

your comment struck a chord... them boots wouldn't have looked out of place in pre revolutionary France in King Louis XIV's court, very blingy and gaudy!

  2. Things are picking up again, recently bought the Brash Kosmik Platform pumps in red and black, they are gorgeous!!!

Just got these Raquel Side Zip booties by Christian Siriano too in black and leopard both on their way from the USA :)

Seen some very nice shoes and boots coming out on Payless in a 12 and 13 so very hopeful for the future...

On the flip side thought these were damn ugly...i will not be buying these despite being in my size...Ugh!

  3. They seem to be fairly cheap judging by some of the prices they go for on aucton, what is the construction of these like, are they true to size? Also are they very heavy as the platforms look like at least 2 inches, are they of foam or cork construction to keep the weight down? Thank you!!!

  4. oh yes lots of examples where heels changed for flats in action scenes, some of them done very poorly indeed!!! In numerous cases shoes don't look remotely like each other.

Here is an example although they are pointed and pink: The almost flat boot at 0:13 is used in a stunt in place of the pink high heeled boots Sarah Michelle Geller wears throughout the entirety of the Scooby Doo 2 film.

  5. Its worth reading through this ladies (Emily Botterman) blog, She makes her own shoes and does commissions for her friends, there are some step by step photos of the processes she goes through to make them. Interesting blog if you are into shoe design too. Her latest entry about a commision from artist Jennifer Anyan is particulary noteworthy.

  6. Saw them on Ebay USA and knew i just had to have them, sod the postage!!

They are sold by Payless and are the Brash Komet Platform Pump absolutely gorgeous. don't care if i can't walk in them, these babies are for indoors!

It seems there is a run on these especially in the larger sizes.

Anybody have any idea on fit? Do they run true to size, i ordered the 13W but might be overkill (I take a mens UK10).

Stunning shoes, will buy other colours if i find i can wear a US12W.

I even found a review on youtube for them - didn't show much of the shoes unfortunately :penitent:

(Please excuse the legs / feet - though I feel as if this has been said so many times it's a given.)

I have just come into a new pair of heels. They're 5 inch silleto heel'd, grey suede pumps.

I got them from the eBay shop howcool-4u - Click!

Howcool-4u recently has changed a lot of it's selling ways in that they're selling shoes as auctions as opposed to buy-it-nows. I managed to pick up these shoes in a EU 46 (UK Mens 12) for only £9! With an added £15 shipping fee from Germany VIA Parcelforce and it arrived within 2 days!

The shoes are very comfortable, which is surprising for a pump like this. At first I thought they looked a bit too "proper" or "old lady" for me, but they soon grew on me within about 5 minutes haha!

There really is no con to this shoe apart from like my other pair of red nitelife heels, my heel seems to still slip out the back of this shoe from time to time. My feet are wide to it streches out the shoe and it's my theory that this causes the back to the shoe to become loose too, therefore the heel slipping. However the gap isn't big enough to fit a heel grip in there, as im pratically fighting to get my heel in the shoe sometimes!

The craftsmanship on these shoes are always good I find. I have worn my boots out (see below) and they deffinatly do the trick.

I would deffinatly reccomend that shoe store, I have another pair of heels from that store as seen below, and they came in record speed, decent quality and nice style too.

Really like those pumps Live and Learn, definately my kind of shoe, don't seem to have them on their site unfortuantely. You got yourself a bargain, they practically gave them away (£9) Love them.

  7. I think the heels would be between 3 and 4 inches. My Brother in law is not a particulary tall man, about 5ft 7 and his brother who was in this picture which i cropped out is 6ft 2 and there was still a bit of a height difference even taking his shoes into account, so it would be around that range. Will check some other pics for a clearer view But might take some searching.

  8. Thought i would update the thread with what payless is offering at the moment in a US13, unfortunately not a lot of any note but these caught my eye ...i hope they are not going back to the bad old days. Love the two peep toe bootie styles but nor really into the pink and chunky sole shoes. BTW is Compton a predominantly African -American area, as i have heard that ladies from this ethnic group tend to have larger sized feet than usual????

  9. As yet, the prices and sale discounts have barely changed. I have however seen some of the products on sale on eBay at inflated prices - which might explain why some items/sizes are sold out quickly.

Indeed there is Puffer, i bought a pair of mini platform pumps in grey suede like material from an ebay buyer that were virtually sold out in all sizes, i was fortunate to get them at close to retal price. However some boots including a gorgeous pair of laced ankle boots with a platform sole went for over £60. I wasn't prepared to pay nearly twice the price for them however much i liked them. I am hoping the mail order model may save the large size range if not i dont know who might replace them in the market. Evans shoes on the whole are still a bit frumpy for my liking but getting better. the only alternative may be specialist large size on line retailers who charge (understandibly) much higher prices as they cant order the stock in large quantities to keep prices down.

I will be following this story with interest.

  10. OK heres a list, although i do believe a similar thread came up a while back....

Tony James and Martin Degville of Sigue Sigue Sputnik

David Bowie has been known to wear thin heeled mens shoes

    New York Dolls

    The Tubes

    The Cramps (Lux Interior)

Elton John i believe has worn heels

Justin Tranter of Semi-Precious Weapons had some high heeled boots especially made for him by Stuart Weitzman

    im sure there are others.....

  11. Maybe some confirmation that though men in heels might be increasing, it's not a significant enough marketshare to contribute significantly to a company's bottom line.

Maybe not male buyers although there are quite a lot of teenage girls / young women who are taller than previous generations who have to wear larger shoe sizes ie size 9 and 10 uk are are not as rare as they used to be. Indeed one of my 15 year old nieces is 5ft 10in and takes a UK9 and has not stopped growing and could potentially go up another size or two. So there is that market as well

One observation ...a lot of the really modern styles quickly run out of the very large sizes (UK10 and UK11). Where they let themselves down badly was with sizing issues and then using the excuse they were european sizing. There were quite a few models they sold that were upto 2 sizes smaller than stated and therefore alienated customers who needed the very large sizes. And there were a lot of negative comments on their tall and small website about this very issue that back this up.

I have read other news reports after i posted this one, it seems that the shops in the main are reprieved 18 going out of 173) , its mainly concessions in stores are where the cuts are being made (1610 made redundant).
