  1. I have heard that models do try to squeeze into smaller shoes - on some sites which talk about what shoe size / height a particular celebrity / model may be, they have stated this, pure conjecture but may have some truth to it. may have something to do with them being sent sample pairs in certain sizes to model, if they are not the same size they just have to squeeze into them, as i said all purely hypothetical. Also the stated shoe sizes may be more to do with the agencies rather than the models themselves.

  2. I have been looking on Fashion Model sites and have noticed that especially with the more well known names, their quoted shoe size is almost almost without exception smaller than the size that is widely shown on other web sites (as accurate as can be accepted). For example one modeling site quoted Cyndi Crawford as having US9 feet and then quoting that as a size UK6.5!! when its known she is actually a US10 , UK8, there are numerous other examples of giving smaller sizes. Also it seems that any Model over 6ft doesnt have a shoe size over a UK6 or 7 (I know there are women with smaller feet disproportionate to their height) which seems statistically impossible , there must be some UK8 9 or 10 but no all the model sites i have gone to do not seem to have any. Is it a marketing thing, are some taller models embarrassed of having a larger than normal shoes size. What does anyone else think? I can find some more examples if you want.

  3. I was not one of the two reviewers but i have bought many priceless shoes (size 10) and left reviews for about 3 of them (one was not too complimentry - http://www.bigshoeboutique.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product1_14052_-1_116674_14051 reviwer name - barney). You do get what you pay for but some of them are suprisingly well made and are a real bargain if you get them when they are on sale, the round toe pumps they did in about 7 different colours were particulary nice.

I got a pair of the boots described and they are really quite nice, my only real critisizm being they smell really plasticky, however they fit really well and for the money are really good.

I hope that some of the shoes they sell in an 8 or 9 are made in the larger sizes as they are really nice.

    A good alternative to Evans.

  4. I have a pair of Aldo leather boots that i intend to put up for sale on HHplace but i need to know if they can be repaired easily before i do it, so buyer is aware of what will need to be done to make them as new. The boots are soft leather that runch at the top of the boot. The leather has got ripped at the seam that connects the heel cup and the leather shaft. I have attached a few pictures to show rip and another that shows the area affected (circled) Can a compitent cobbler restitch the leather or can it be glued. Your thoughts and comments please.

  5. Wow one of my old threads opened up after all these years

Unfortunately all the shoes have long gone, been sold so i cant repost the pictures, although i do still have the denim boots which i kept because they were so gorgeous, i could get a small fortune for them now. I sold some old payless shoes on ebay a few days ago, which cost me £10 plus £15 shipping a few years ago, well ebay can be crazy, they went for £55.55, see the link here you may recognise the model, some of you payless afficionados

Ironically i have another 4 pais of this model in other colours, im tempted to do a 2nd chance offer to the bidder that missed out :pulsingheart:

  6. Lots of styles have a cuff attatched to them at the moment (shoes made to look like boots) but i havent seen any in really big sizes.....

    Found this on:

Available in UK10 and 11...not too sure what to make of them, they are sort of nice but look like the boot (cuff) part has been tacked onto an ordinary court shoe, still they are only £20 so might be worth a look.

  7. I guess I can help you a little. About two Christmasses ago I decided to give myself a Christmas. I went into the Jimmy Choo site and found out that they had size 42, which most sites advertise as a size 12. I called a rep and found out that they had the Orchid boots in a size 42, so I bought them (thinking that it was a size 12). All I have are boots, from Stuart Weitzman, Ralph Lauren, Nine West and Via Spiga (all of they fit really well in a size 12) When I first got them I tried them on and was not able to put them on. I even bought pantyhose to see if they fit, they were not even close. I can't compare to a UK size but I do know that what most people advertise as a comparable size is not true. I believe that a size 12 is equivalent to a size 44.

I hope this can give you an idea of what size to but.

I have never understood High End Designer Sizing, ordinarily a size US12 is a UK10, but designer shoes will be a UK8 what gives!!!! Can anyone explain this logic to me?????

  8. For comparison, here's a picture of the Twist Bootine:

    http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/ShockQueen/shooz1/bootine.jpg

I have a pair of them (in black). From my previous review of them: "They are advertised as have a 3 1/2" heel; I measured 3 3/4" (on a size 13M size).

Funnily enough i have 3 pairs of these too (1 in grey and 2 in black )and yes they look very similar if you take the platform into account, just as comfortable i love them!

Incidentally my friend (who is also a forum member here) who gets all my US sourced shoes and boots has a pair of 13w Skye booties currently for sale on ebay in a dark brown. (Sorry if it should be in the for sale section - but this is for info and not my financial gain also this size is now sold out at avenue).

  9. I'd also recommend Avenue. Their selection isn't nearly as large as Payless, but their 13W (never saw a WW) definitely will fit a man's size 13 foot. And their prices are definitely Payless-type: nothing lists over $50

Agreed i have a couple of pairs of their Skye concealed platform round toe booties and they are very generously sized so much so i can easily go down a size from normal with room to spare and they are very well made as well as inexpensive. As a Brit buying reasonably priced shoes from the US, payless was my only option but Avenue are a great viable option.

BTW only upto 11W in the grey and 12W in the brown available now, bargain at $25.00

  10. However, in my opinion, these sellers are insignificant in terms of affecting product availability. According to the Payless website, they have over 4500 stores, and a full online ordering system. There is no way even a dozen ebay sellers could buy up all the inventory of a particular shoe(s).

Probably not but it would be interesting to know what the production run on say a 12w and 13 is in comparision to a popular shoe size eg a size 8 might have a run of say 10000 pairs i would think that a 12w or 13 would be significantly less say 1000 in each size. Those dozen or more traders could buy up say 20 pairs of each up and that would be nearly a quarter of the whole stock, but i am just theorizing. Give it another 5-10 years when average sizes will have increased again there will be more styles available for us larger footed heelers.

  11. Bought about 50 pairs of which 10 were the same style but in different colours (didnt cost the earth as they worked out at about £10 each on average - the rounded toe pumps that big shoe boutique were churning out, a lovely classic style). Have sold about 30 - 40 pairs last year and will be another dozen 8 days into 2010 as my auctions will/have end/ed. Got my eye on a few more pairs to replace them :cry1:
