  1. I bought my first courts from Ravel. Georgeous design, quality was poor though. I still have my first knee boots bought from Shoefair back in '72, still wearable, but need heeling and a loose zip repair.

'Shoefair'....wow, there's a 'blast from the past'.....and 'Ravel', well they still make high heels...nice ones too. I used to buy most of my heels in 'Faith'.....and 'Saxone', 'Lilley and Skinner' and 'Freeman Hardy Willis', anyone remember them?

(I sometimes bought them in 'Chelsea Girl' too....'TopShop' now of course!).

  2. ^^ I can totally relate to all this Alexa....specially the 'Elastoplast' on the heels...my first pair of high court shoes nearly killed my love of heels. Thankfully the attraction was stronger than the pain!:)
  3. Why is our society so guilt-driven that anything a person enjoys is called an addiction. The way the term is thrown around I would have to say I'M ADDICTED TO BREATHING!

Probably because it's usually an addiction to things that are bad for you....

So, are high heels an addiction, a fetish....or a love?

    LOVE!!:):P

  4. I bought my first pair of stiletto heels in the late 1970's. They were 4" strappy sandals from 'Faith' and they seemed incredibly high. I soon got used to them though...and I haven't looked back since. I think that styles of that era were gorgeous...strappy sandals for example I believe were more elegant. I have thick legs and ankles so styles with pretty thin straps and high slim heels did wonders for them.

I collect Vintage heels and I'm always on the 'look out' for nice curved, spike heels which seemed hugely popular in the late '80's, especially on court shoes (pumps). The materials were a lot better as well. Here's a pair of late-'80's 'Faith' strappy sandals that I found on EBay UK last November. They are gorgeous, they have 4" heels, and came in the original box too.

Happy birthday and ps i think you have possibly the best avatar on the site, love it,is it true to life!!!

^^ Thank you guys for your lovely new comments..I'm going all 'pink and fluffy' inside!:P

'Bladerunner'....it took me ages to find the avatar..I wanted something that said 'me'...and it does. So yes - it's a true reflection of my more 'wicked' side!!:)

  6. Ok when I was 19 I was hit by a car and it sherded the nerve in my right leg beyond repair. I am 31 now and over the years I have learned how to walk. With a brace no one can tell about my leg and with out I have a slight limp. With this nerve damage I have no mussel control below my knee. I am able to were heels as long as they are chunky heels (2" wide). But I am looking for something a lil more slander (attractive) but I will have to have better ankle support. Then the traditional high heel shoe offers. A lot of stuff is harder for me now then before and I am willing to spend the time to learn how to were what ever. So any styles or advice is fully welcome. So is there any suggestions.

'Lauren'...you have my total sympathy. I have a chronic lower back problem (ruptured lumbar disc), which has permanently damaged my left sciatic nerve. The result is some muscle wasting in my left calf...and a dropped left foot. So like you, I often have trouble with very high heels.

I wear heel styles like 'clog' style mules and strappy sandals with good ankle straps. Clog mules have more slender heels than your 2" wide ones, but they are still thick enough for stability...and they also have broader soles too which is a great help. With strappy sandals, I wear the styles that have ankle straps, or straps that go up my legs, which give my ankles more support and make it easier to walk.

Boots are far easier as they give me complete support all the way to my knee....and higher if they are thigh length of course.

It took me about 2 years to get used to walking in high heels again after my injury...but with a lot of patience and practice I got there in the end. I don't wear heels any higher than 3" or 3.5" for regular everyday wear now....I can sometimes go up to 5" for walking but I'm forever taking 'rest breaks' as my left foot and leg get so tired!

Generally, for everyday use now, I try and stick to heels that have 'thicker' stilettos and broader soles. Thinner spike heels, and fetish heels over 5" are reserved for 'special' occasions, modelling....and the bedroom!

  7. Sandals for summer and warm weather, closed in shoes or boots for me if its cold. I hate having cold toes. Pedicures as required, I like my feet to look nice regardless of the season.

Yes....Summer, warm weather...and parties! I wear them in the Winter too if I can get away with it....but my toes ALWAYS get a pedicure as 'Sally' says.

^^ BTW 'Vinheel'....your wife's 'sleepers' are lovely. A little 'fussy' for me...too many straps...but the colour is absolutely fabulous!! Very nice.:)

  8. Well...I looked at three styles from 'The Highest Heel' and these are by far the closest, in design and in heel shape. The cut of the vamp is almost exactly the same, as is the shape of the heel. I also looked at 'Pleaser's' Scream with plain heels...and 'Ellie', and 'Hollywood Heels', but they were WAAAY off.

As for the 'logo'....these are the ONLY pair I have found with a 2 word label....it is possible of course that the name is the same....just different style lettering. Remember, we don't know how old those photographs are.....the lettering style may have been changed.....like 'Hollywood Heels' and 'Frederick's' have done in the past.

    At least I tried...........

  9. oooo and thank you! Never been to that site before. I see lot's of boots I'm going to be buying :)

I have a few more that you may like to browse through if you would like?? You're more than welcome to them......the first you may know already:

'Leatherworks of London' (Hand Made Real leather): www.leatherworks.org.uk

    ...then these places:

'GlamourBoots' (Hand Made to Measure - and Jean Gaborit): http://www.glamourboots.com/

'IMakeBootsnGloves' (Hand Made to Measure): http://www.imakebootsngloves.com/page/page/6411179.htm

'ThighHighBoots.net' (Gorgeous Hand Made to Measure): http://www.thighhighboots.net/

  10. Actually definitely a lure and then offer another solution, as they also list the pleaser ones as a different item. They know what game they're playing. What shocked me was that their requested "deposit" for these boots is actually more than many stores retail the boots for. There's doing business and then there's just greed and bad business. The suggested retail for these is about 280-320 so what they charge is ludicrous. Hope nobody really took that sucker deal they offer since just for giggles I googled what the majority is asking and they're all at a more realistic amount as suggested by the maker of these boots.

here's a quote: Thank you for your message. We have sold out of Y4 ballet lace up thigh boots unfortunately the Little Shoe Box in London who manufactured them ceased trading approx 5 years ago and we have sold our

    stock of these boots.

We are able to supply Pleaser Thigh High lace up ballet boots in black leather at $890 or Black Patent PVC at $750 plus $15 express post anywhere in Australia at cost world wide.

Delivery time approx 2 weeks, we require a min deposit of $200 with the blance due once we receive them.

I was actually looking at the ballet heels Punitive shoes makes as a replacement for the LSB Ballets. They're much sturdier and do come in a few colors. But I'm taking a chance and having a few pairs of the pleaser style ballet heel done in custom leather boots, so I guess I will post more info when I get those and test them out.

You are kidding me...??!! $890.00 is daylight robbery for Pleaser Ballet Boots! You can order them MUCH cheaper from places like 'Snaz75' or 'HowCool'........or you could order direct as a retailer from 'Pleaser Shoes' in the US.

You can also look here for boots:

    http://www.sky-scrapers.com/

They don't do Ballet Heels but you may find others you might like to include in your shop.

ANND....these people DO stock the Y4 Ballet Boot from 'LSB'...(or are these the people you have contacted already?????):

    http://www.shoecraft.com.au/

Go to 'boots' and scroll down about halfway......

  11. I emailed the store. They tried a bait and switch tactic on me. They're sold out of all LSB Ballet shoes, I was told in an email, but they still show them on thier site. Was told but we have these...bla bla bla.... and tried to tell sell me the Pleaser ballet boots I sell for over 7x wholesale price. Not good.

If they are using 'LSB' illustrations to advertise their boots, but are actually selling 'Pleaser', then it is a clear case of misrepresentation.....which is illegal...in any country. They are playing on the assumption that most folks don't know that 'LSB' went out of business over 3 years ago. However, a large number of Ballet Boot purchasers will know of course...Ballet Heels are a 'niche' market and many purchasers will already 'know their onions' so to speak..

    It's shady dealing....and best avoided.

  12. Actually here in the UK most employers state on the application that "No correspondence will be entered into" in other words they will not give a reason. When you think about it it is unfair to employ someone because they're TG when someone else has better qualifications.

I don't think it will make any difference at all.

You could test it though by sending 2 different applications, one that shows your TG status and one that makes you look "ordinary" and see which application gets you an interview.

Assuming that both of your applications would be considered for the shortlist in the first place of course. Remember, there may well be others more qualified than you, which might eliminate both your submissions. Then the experiment is up the creek, as you would receive no feedback at all - especially if there is a 'no correspondence will be entered into' caveat applied to the application process.

  13. How can anyone not be a fan of Louboutin?

I admit I find some of his shoes really OTT but his back catalogue has so many incredible pairs of shoes.

It's called 'personal taste'....and I do not like a lot of his designs......

  14. Is it just me or does anyone else feel that most of the photos on Meganeura's German Ebay shop look like they have been squeezed horizontally.

Not sure if it's a photo processing error or a genuine decision to make the heels look higher and the shoes daintier and cuter?

Have a look at the attached. I have stretched them horizontally to show how I think they would really appear.

What do you guys think? Has anyone bought anything from Meganeura or indeed anyone else (big shops included) where the photos were not 100% accurate?

    Regards,

    Ben

p.s Belated Happy Birthday Pussy In Boots. Nice to have you around.

Thank You Sweetie!:P I'm struggling to see a significant difference in those photos though.....:)
