Geoffrey Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Hey I'm new here and I'm very happy to meet people like you I just started with my first pair of heels (enkle boots with 4" heels) but I'm having problems to wear them outside. I hope that heels for men can also be accepted in The Netherlands.
Geoffrey Posted May 11, 2002 Author Posted May 11, 2002 Well I don't know how I should tell my mom. She allready accepted that I wear nailpolish and she knows that I'm NOT gay. I'm 18 years old now and I'm going to a higher education. The people I'll meet there are around 20 years old and I hope that they are a little more tolerant than kids at high school. If you can help me or give me any advise, please.
Firefox Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Hi Geoffrey. There's quite a few guys here from NL who wear heels. Jeff, Lion to name but two. Then there's Hiluc just across the border in Belgium. I've worn heels myself a few times in NL, Amsterdam, Rotterdam etc. I don't think you'll have any problem if you wear 4" ankle boots with smart male fashions and later on, if you want to be more adventurous, you can try other looks as well as you gain more confidence. Geoffrey Posted May 11, 2002 Author Posted May 11, 2002 Thanx guys. I'll do that! Besides, the ankle boots I bought doesn't really look that girlish and I like them to wear. I just went for a walk this afternoon and just a few people were looking, nobody was laughing at me
terayon Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 welcome to the board im in sort of the same situation as you, im 16, and when i told my mom, i didnt really tell her...i left them out in my room, and when she found them, she asked me about my boots, and i just told her that they were mine and i liked to wear them....she didnt really have any problems with it
Highluc Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Hi Geoffrey, welcome aboard, nice to see yet another Benelux guy join us. There is a lot of info on this board and I'm sure you will have less questions when you finished reading all of it. I also have a few pointers on my tips and thoughts page on my website http://walk.to/highluc Be youself, enjoy any footwear you like and don't care about what others think about it, it's your life, not theirs. Greetings from Laurence
Jeff Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Ah, another namesake on the board, and from Holland too... Be welcomed Geoffrey. Greetz, Jeff --- "She's going shopping, shopping for shoe-oe-oe-oes She wants them in magenta and Caribbean blue-ue-ue-ue" - Imelda, Mark Knopfler
Laurieheels Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Heyas! Welcome to the niceest place for heels on the internet. Of course, yuo called yourself G, and you won't get this, but my initial reaction was... Yo G, 'sup? I never speak like that, but I work with a few people who would have a few years ago...
Geoffrey Posted May 13, 2002 Author Posted May 13, 2002 Geoffrey is my name but my friends call me G, but you may call me whatever you like
Arctic Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 Hi G welcome to the club. You're well off being in Holland, it should be rather easy breaking the ice there. Good luck with your mother, you have good chances that Terayon's trick also works for you! I've been zillions of times in Holland and believe me, it's the best place to be into high heels. Good luck! Bert What's all the fuss about?
Geoffrey Posted May 14, 2002 Author Posted May 14, 2002 My mom knows it now and she judges that I'm not heterosexual but who is she to decide what I am. I know myself the best and I know that I'm a straight person with just a few social problems, but not a big deal anyway. She laughed at me when I showed her walking in my heels, but she'll get used to it
ShockQueen Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 I'm glad at least there's some type of positive reaction there from her. Perhaps she will indeed get used to seeing you in them as time goes on. Here's to hoping, and to the future! SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!
Geoffrey Posted May 15, 2002 Author Posted May 15, 2002 Yeah! but she doesn't want me to go with her to a place if I wear my heels and I can understand that. I'll only go out on them my own.
Dexter23 Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 I have been out no for several times but till now nobody ever lauched at me for my new high heeled boots. There was one friend of my who told me he would'nt wear shoes like that. But all my (woman) friends liked them a lot. And besides that I wear them for myself not for annybody else. ps. I think holland is one of the most tolerant countries in the world and I am happy to live there.
Jeff Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 I think I have a similar pair in the closet. Are they from Bristol? Greetz, Jeff --- "She's going shopping, shopping for shoe-oe-oe-oes She wants them in magenta and Caribbean blue-ue-ue-ue" - Imelda, Mark Knopfler

Van Posted May 25, 2002 Posted May 25, 2002 Hi Geoffrey, I'm from Brussels but usually living a few thousand miles further south. I've worn heels several time in Holland, especially in amsterdam and Rotterdam and never encountered any negative reaction. Belgium's getting pretty cool too. It's getting more and more accepted that one dresses his own way. People don't care much. Enjoy ! Vanessa

Jeff Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 These boots are mine, and still for sale Dexter.. The reason you can't find boots like this in many shops at the moment, is because most shops only have their summer collections on show and only very few boots. Yeah, tell me about it.. Although, it's not unlikely that for a lot of brands a 41 will fit you just fine. I normaly wear 42 in mens shoes. For womens shoes it's 41 most of the time, a couple of weeks ago I even bought a size 40 at Dolcis.
