Shafted Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Well I found these little gems last week and couldn't resist. http://www.famousfootwear.com/product.asp?p=1005940%7EWomens%7CBoots%7CAnkle&variant_id=23955 They arrived Monday and Tuesday I was wearing them everywhere except my day job. Believe it it or not, these get much less attention than my low heeled thigh boots did. What a terrific buy, and they are very comfortable. Started out by leaving my new house with them on and jumping in my truck for the trip to work at around 6AM. Stopped at a small store on the way to work to get some coffee. Jumped out of my truck onto the gravel driveway, got to the door and they were closed. Turned around and the woman who was behind me came to open the store but was running late. I asked her about coffee and she said it would take about 10 minutes to brew, so I decided to wait inside the store while it was brewing (I needed coffee so bad!). Another guy then came in also awaiting coffee. When the coffee was ready I got my cup together and headed for the cashier, paid for my liquid gold and left. No one noticed that I could tell and no comment Got to work changed into my work shoes and began my workday at 7AM. Got out of work at 3:30PM, put my new boots back on and headed out to a favorite chinese resterant for dinner before my theatre job. I think the waitress caught a glimpse of them when I sat down, but no comment. When I worked in the theatre that night the manager came in to work the shift of one of my nightly coworkers to my surprise. When the two of us were face to face she noticed the height increase in me and knew what was up. It's no big secret to any of my friends that I love high heels. When she finally had the opportunity to sneak a peek at them she said nice boots. I wound up working in the concession area that night as she worked the box office and projection. I'm sure that everybody heard them on the linolium floor and got a peek at them as I was hustling to fill orders and no comment. Later on during the movie as I was sitting on a soda canister with my legs crossed with boots in full view a guy came in to order more snacks, and I know without a doubt he saw them, still no comment and a completely straight face. Only when the movie got out around 9:15PM did I get any reaction from a different guy who looked at me and left with a big grin on his face. Well I would say when you find the right shoes the street heeling is easy. For the most part my assesment of the experience was that either people don't notice or don't care. Except for my day job I'm definitely going about my day to day life in heels. Ain't life grand? Shafted, the boots that is! micha Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Yes, life if is grand if you are daring to live your life to the full - simply ignoring the prejudices of others. It doesn't play any rôle if you like wearing high heels, skirts or hip jeans ... You are you and I am me and everybody should accept this The best fashion is your own fashion!
JeffB Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Very nice boots, Shafted, and an equally entertaining story. Sounds like quite the interesting outing you had. I'm sure you must have felt good when you got that compliment from your co-worker. There's nothing like positive reinforcement to cheer up a person! Hopefully, this will lead to more and more outings for you in public! Speaking of the boots, tell us more about them, how they fit, how it felt to walk in them, everything you can as I'm curious about them! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 10, 2005 Author Posted June 10, 2005 Well last night at the movie theatre while a coworker and myself were handling things, the manager came in with her teenaged daugher and son. I was wearing my new boots as usual. We all talking about each others various quirks, so natually the topic of my boots came up. The manager was eyeing my boots so I eventally said "Would you like to try them on?". Well the response was a definite yes and I was soon out of my boots and I rather enjoyed seeing them on her feet. To top it all off she liked them and thought they were very comfortable. What's surprising though is that she NEVER wears high heels and I succeeded in getting her into mine to her daughers surprise. Both of her kids thought the whole episode was pretty cool. JeffB The boots have a 3-5/8" blade heel and the toe box comes to a point that is slightly squared off about and inch and a half beyond my toes. A center seam stitch runs from the toe all the way up the front of the boot. The inside is the really wild part, as all the inners are purple metallic. I have also seen the boot on Famous Footwears website in plum, but never in the larger sizes that the black is available in. And when the plum does appear it doesn't hang around long. The boot is also constructed completely of man made materials. The fit was nothing short of perfect for me in a size 11. In actual use I found the boot to be very stable. I was able to manuver quite easily and quickly in them. I found I was even able to run in them to some extent. To sum up how they felt, I felt like I was on top of the world. The funny thing is that I don't even consider what I've done as an outing. I'm pretty much in heels all the time except when I'm at my day job. I had pretty much determined that I was going to street heel as soon as I found the appropriate footwear to do so. When I saw these boots, I knew they were the ones. As soon as I had gotten moved into my new house I placed the order. As soon as I had recieved them I was street heeling and I haven't looked back. So after testing the waters so to speak, I have found the waters quite inviting. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 11, 2005 Author Posted June 11, 2005 Opps! Forgot to mention that last night I also had to update the marque for the next movie. So there I was on a step ladder out on the sidewalk lettering the marque with my new boots pretty much at eye level with all the pedestrians passing by. Hows that for some exposure. JeffB Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Thanks for the info, Shafted! It helped a lot to learn about those very nice boots. I'm kinda envious because they look so sharp. And your latest exploit at the theater with your manager trying on your boots also made for good reading. Sounds like you got a good thing going there. Enjoy your future outings! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 11, 2005 Author Posted June 11, 2005 Well just got back from the now fun task of grocery shopping, and yes I did it in my new boots. It absolutely amazes me. Me clicking away quite loudly actually all over the store and no one seemed to notice. Or maybe it was I who didn't notice as I'm not the type who is scanning the crowd to see who might be looking. To anyone out there who hasn't street heeled yet that would like to, once you do it, you won't stop. It's that good. Shafted, the boots that is! heelium Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Congats 'shafted' I would certaily wear those boots, that style is something I definately like. I have just one question though, do wear jeans/trousers that cover up the heel?, this is my preferred method when I 'street-heel', not only do I feel less conspicuous, but I actually like the look of the heel only just visible. Heelium Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new.
Shafted Posted June 12, 2005 Author Posted June 12, 2005 Thanks heelium, I usually wear them with straight leg jeans which hit in the vicinity of the top of the heel or maybe a little lower. More than half of the heel is usually visible maybe more. I really can't stand having my pant legs pooling up around my boots and I definitely can't stand having my pant legs dragging on the ground just waiting to snag a heel. In other words I wear the same jeans with or without high heels. I don't feel the need to hide them if they coordinate well with what I'm wearing. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Wow, shafted, you've really come a long way in just three or four days! I detect a definite and significant change in your attitude once you've discovered how easy and harmless it is to wear heels out and about. Hey guys, it's easy.....go for it!!!!! Congratulations, shafted. :bday: Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Shafted Posted June 12, 2005 Author Posted June 12, 2005 Thanks Bubba, In all fairness my attitude really didn't change, my footwear did. The heels I've had up till now were a little too fetishy for street heeling. The right footwear really makes all the difference as far as being mentally comfortable in public. I suspect most women wouldn't go out in public in the high heeled boots I have other than my new ones, and neither would I. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Key phrase: being mentally comfortable That's all that it takes. Once you achieve (found) that point, the rest is, as they say, all down hill....... Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Dawn HH Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Shafted:-) Congratulations on finally finding what you needed to successfully street-heel. Finding the right pair of boots and being able to have an outfit to go with them means a lot. You also need the right additude mentally and I think you have finally hit on the combination that you need to be a success at street-heeling. Now you can do this more often and enjoy doing it to no end. Keep street-heeling and let us all know how you progress at it. We are all interested in hearing about your exploits like getting your boss into heels for the first time. Great story. Enjoy! Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
JeffB Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Key phrase: That's all that it takes. Once you achieve (found) that point, the rest is, as they say, all down hill....... I call that developing "emotional armor", but the principle is the same. Once you become comfortable in your own skin while wearing heels in public, it all becomes easier. Enjoy, Shafted! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Well, went to Wally World (Walmart) today for a new lawn mower. I was really tempted to wear my heals but thought the better of it. It probably wouldn't have been so much fun loading the mower into my truck alone in high heels. Oh well, I still need to get a microwave oven and I know I can muscle that in the truck on heels no problem. Common sense ruled today, good thing too, that sucker was heavy. Bubba136 Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Why not go to Lowe's and buy both a new lawn mower and a new microwave? Unlike Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, they will even help you load your purchases after you paid for them..... Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Dawn HH Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Shafted:-) Heels or no heels...With the way my joints are these days, I need all the help I can get when loading heavy items into my vehicle. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 14, 2005 Author Posted June 14, 2005 Bubba, This is Maine. Some would consider us lucky to have Walmart although I beg to differ. Used to have some great stores here until Walmart came to town. As far as wearing heels goes I'm addicted, there's no turning back, but common sense should always prevail. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Well time for another update. Worked at the theatre again tonight with the manager. By the way I emailed her the link to the boots and tonight she just had to try my boots again. We were still in pre-show time and when there was no line at the box office she came in to the concession area where I was sitting on a soda canister again with my legs up on another soda canister. She said she had to try them again, and proceeded to unzip them and slip them off my feet. She had removed one of her shoes and put one of the boots on when some more customers came in. It was an absolutely priceless to see her try to get back to the box office with one flat shoe on and one high heeled boot. I couldn't stop laughing. Afterwards she did the same with my other foot and extracted the boot from my foot. I gave her a few pointers to get her going and she was walking, rather stiffly though. I told her she did very well and with just a little bit of practice, she'll do fine. I think that I'm probably going to be ordering a pair for her as she doesn't have a credit card. She said she'd let me know if she wanted a pair. They really looked terrific on her with her straight leg blue jeans. 1 Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Hey Shafted...It sounds like a promising future for you and the manager. If she is the same shoe size as you, you two could be swapping shoes and boots more often. Keep us all posted. Very interesting! Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Well Dawn, the lady is married. As far as swapping shoes, she could get away with wearing my 11's but I doubt I could wear her 10's without ruining them for her. But if I can get her into wearing heels, I might be partially responsible for her giving a real treat to her husband, who by the way is a really nice guy. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I wonder if she has told her husband about her shoe episodes ? It would be humorous, wouldn't it, if he came to you and asked to try on your boots, too? Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Shafted Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Well Bubba, he's been there while I've been wearing them, so he probably knows that much. Well went to Walmart again today for that microwave, and this time in heels. I went into the store, grabbed a cart and headed for housewares. People are amazing here. If they do notice I think that I am more of a curiousity for them than anything. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 'Bout time you got another pair to "spell" those you're wearing all over the place. You'll soon have them worn slap-jam out..... Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Shafted Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Zappo's has this pair that I really like. It comes in many colors too. Hmm, what color should I get? http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/6374255/c/3.html I've already found that when you start street heeling, your quest for more footwear accelerates. LuckyLad Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Wow, they are nice boots. I would choose any of the bottom 3 colours Olive, Plum or Red; they really show of the style of the boot. Let me know if you get them - I really wish Zappos delivered to the UK! Lucky
Dawn HH Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Shafted:-) Thanks for the info up-date on your manager's escapades in your boots. For someone who never wears heels, she sure is enamered with your boots having tried them on for a second time. Even though she is married, your stories are very interesting reading. I can't wait to see what happens next. Keep us posted. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
JeffB Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Damn! Those are very chic boots! A pity they don't come in my size or I'd order a pair! Well, Shafted, basic black is always a good first choice since it goes well with so many outfits, both casual and dressy. Good luck with those boots, my friend! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Thanks all. I case you haven't read I found the following review of the boot quite interesting. 2005-04-04 09:26:50 Two Lips Zappo Reviewer: Amber N from Boardman, Ohio Overall: Comfort: Look: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Cool red boots - I love my new red boots. Everyone compliments these boots. I even have guys telling me how hot my boots are. One of the guys at work asked me if he could check out one of my boots - he wants to buy a pair for his girlfriend. I took them off and handed them to him. I went back to typing on my computer. He told me they are really nice boots. I looked over at him and he was wearing my boots. He even had them zipped up all the way. He turned around and walked down the hall and back before taking them off. I've never had a man wear any of my boots before but in a strange way they did look cute on him with his black suit and red tie. My sister has the same boots in black & Dark brown. She wears a 1\2 size smaller than I do but with nylons on I can fit into her boots just fine. We trade off colors all the time. We both love the look and feel of these boots. Very comfortable. The only problem that I have is my sister always wears my red boots and never wants to return them so I can wear them. I might have to get another pair of red ones for me to wear. Great job on these boots. Could you make the same style of boot only with knee high length sides on them. They would go great with my shorter skirts and shorter dresses. Thanks. Dawn HH Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Shafted:-) What luck having your male co-worker trying out your boots and then walking around in them. You didn't mention if he walked well in them or had a very wobbling experience. Wouldn't it be something if he showed up wearing a pair of his own boots at work? There may be possibilities there. Maybe he is a closet heel wearer. Who knows? Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
