Yamyam Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 Clearly all of us here are 'solemates', but how about the people we haven't enlightened? Let's have your suggestions, everyone. Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
Firefox Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 My view is we don't need any distinction. There are plenty of people who are going to come here (mostly guys) who have no intention of wearing heels, but who really appreciate the style they can bring to a woman. I'm sure they will appreciate hearing the ladies' views about their shoes. I wouldn't attempt to enlighten them or call them anything other than heel admirers _________________ Believe in your right to wear what you want [ This Message was edited by: Firefox on 2002-03-18 23:10 ]
Charlie Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 In all fairness, we should probably call them "normal". Oh I'm probably going to get it for this!................................ Charlie Everything I say is a lie!.......I'm lying
Laurieheels Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Why should we call them anything. Why should we call them? They can use phones, let them call us! Oh, riiiight. Let's not categorize. I mean, flats, low heels, mid heels, high heels, platforms, bare feet... Let's each call ourselves by a term with a sense of pride and refer to anyone else people. Or "hey you" if we need someone's attention. I hate categories. I mean, come on, what whacky category would you need to come up with for me? Oh yes, Insanity Girl. Quite right. Okay, think about everyone else then! I am in a surprisingly good mood.
Laurieheels Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Boring? An insult to them, a compliment to us? I know many fun people who wear heels only on rare occassions or never. Especially people I work with.
Nata Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Well... I don't have anything against them as long as they don't give us silly names or passing any silly comments about us. Cheers, Nata
Bob Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 If we are truyly enlightened then who needs a category or name? Besides, isn't flatfoot a name for coppers Man is born in freedom, but soon becomes enslaved, in cages of convention from the cradle to the grave - Jeff Waynes War Of The Worlds/Sung by David Essex
Yamyam Posted March 21, 2002 Author Posted March 21, 2002 I didn't really intend this to become quite such a heated debate ! It was a random thought that occurred to me on the way home from somewhere. I blame it on lack of blood to the brain caused by my wearing a tie at the time! Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
Laurieheels Posted March 21, 2002 Posted March 21, 2002 Yamyam, you cannot post something here and not expect a heated debate! This is our way, we love to discuss, and we all have slightly different ideas. Isn't it fun? You posted a topic and it came to life!
hoverfly Posted March 21, 2002 Posted March 21, 2002 It's alive!!! It's alive!!! It's... oh my... Put it back!!!! Put it back!!! No, back!!! Back I tell you!! Ahhhhhhh!!! Hello, my name is Hoverfly. I’m a high heel addict…. Weeeeeeeeeee! 👠1998 to 2022!
Firefox Posted March 21, 2002 Posted March 21, 2002 See what problems ties can cause.... My last girlfriend didn't wear heels of any sort, and I never told her to do otherwise. We didn't have a name for each of our inverted fashion ideals though
Yamyam Posted March 22, 2002 Author Posted March 22, 2002 Damn those ties . I suppose I should be flattered that so many people wanted to discuss my random thoughts. Roll on the next heated debate Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
Anita C. Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 "Civilians" "Spike Heels . . a Pork-pie hat . . Have on the mend in no time flat . . Ten Minutes 'Till The Savages Come by Manhatten Transfer.
genebujold Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 How about "flatlanders?" Appropriately derrogatory to the idea that the world is flat while making it clear that theirs is an issue of height, most of which would not make in on the civiliian train.
xaphod Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Clearly all of us here are 'solemates', but how about the people we haven't enlightened? Let's have your suggestions, everyone. What do we call people who don't wear heels ..... irrelevant. Xa (tongue slightly in cheek)
TallSwede Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 With regards to all previous writers like Anagram and the following on the same basic theme; How about flatties or at least flatfooters depending on how much one want the possible derogatory interpretation to be made of the expression...?
