Curt
Why do women have petite, tall and plus sizes, and guys don't. I think stores are screwing with womens self esteem issues with plus size stores. I know from experience, my x-wife hated shopping with her best friend. Because, her friend is skinny as a rail like me. A size 2 might be too big. So the friend could shop in all the sexy stores, and my ex couldn't. She wasn't shopping, she was just along for the ride. Same with me, what would happen if a went into a suit store and asked for a pair of pants, 25" waist and 34" long. They would say, sorry I can't help you! I went to le chateau last week for some dress pants. I shopped in the womens section, and got a perfect pair of pants. I felt a little funny, but they treated me so awesome. They probably realised that mens clothes won't fit me! That's true, but I also don't like the style! Is it worse for a girl shopping for herself in the mens store, or vice versa? It must bother a woman knowing she's too big for womens clothes. What do you guys think? Ashley.
Histiletto
I was wondering, for a 25" waist and 34" inseam, could that be found in the boys section? However, I do understand your reasoning for going to the women,s section for jeans and pants. Many women are more self-conscious about their appearance when they have to go shopping for clothes in the plus size sections. Some see it as a failure to control their diet or part of a "having a family" curse, when they were unable to determine what they needed to reduce their body weight. Curt
That would be really tall for a boy! Just kidding! Womens pants have more of a style I like. No problem at all.
Rockpup
Not related, but I remember in highschool I could squeeze into a size 1. Now 11's are a better fit. Oh well. I could also not physically do my job 20 years ago. (formerly known as "JimC")
SleekHeels
A quick web search shows there are several "Big & Tall" menswear sections in mainstream (UK) retailers like Next, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Burton, and other specialist retailers too. In general menswear tends to have less emphasis on fit so one of the small/medium/large (or extra-whatever) sizes is usually fine, whereas with womenswear fit tends to be a lot more important. As for shoes I struggle to find good-fitting men's shoes whereas with women's shoes it seems easier to find styles that are more or less compatible with my feet (maybe it's the far greater variety). If you like it, wear it.
Dr. Shoe
There are stores for bigger men. In the UK we have "High and Mighty" for taller and more portly gentlemen. HappyinHeels
pumpcat, There's plenty of places for men to get larger sizes down here because Americans are so fat these days.We have drive through windows at convenience store because people can't get their fat ass out of trhe car to go into the store to buy their junk food and battery-powered carts in the supermarket so that oversized thirtysomethings can buy their groceries so of course we'll have places where men can buy supersize clothing. Years of agriculture subsidies and junk food have gotten us to this point. As long as their is a market, and boy is there a market, there will be plus sizes for men and women across the USA.
