Heelfan Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Thank you Dr Shoe! What a nice, kind invitation! I had, in my proposals for the day (above), suggested that we might finish up at the hotel holding the 'Skin Two' fetish party (bound to be oodles of knockout heels there!), but that would be costly and it's nice to have your alternative to be able to put to the little gang! If adopted, I'm sure we'll all obediantly behave in front of your curtain-twitching neighbours by waddling in in our f - f - f - flats or by wearing ground-scraping trousers! Thank you again, and look forward to chatting with you on Saturday! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Ionic Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 The weather is due to cool sharply on Saturday and a few showers are possible in the afternoon. But for those starting out early in the North, note Central London will warm up a lot in the afternoon so need to pretty flexible garb to cover eventualities. /I /I
Highluc Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 I wish all of you a pleasant day in London, my heart will be with you and I will surely miss the shopping and beer sipping with the Brittish heeled friends I met during previous heel meets. Unfortunately present financial priorities are different and hopefully I will be able to join you in 2004. Happy heeling (and shopping) from Highluc to all. Be youself, enjoy any footwear you like and don't care about what others think about it, it's your life, not theirs. Greetings from Laurence
Firefox Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Here's what Heelfan and I got up to as a pre-meeting venture on 3 October 2003. I was wearing my Baratt's 4 inch stilleto ankle boots and later my 4.5" inch Faith thick blade akle boots: 3.30 Meet at Liverpool Street Station. Drinks in station bar prior to office girl's heel fest in rush hour. 4.15 We both go our seperate ways to nab a few shots of the architecture and girls walking by who "happen" to be in the picture. 5.15 RDV to find that heelfan is getting some good pics while I've got nothing. Off to take more pics. 6.00 RDV to compare notes. Heelfan has got some more good ones while I got a couple of video shots. 6.15 Dinner and a bottle of wine in local wine bar, looking at pics we took. 7.30 Set off for Oxford Street Tube 7.50 Arrive at Barratts and check out latest styles. Chat up attractive sales assistant. Get info on large sizes. 8.15 to 9.15 Surf the net at Easyeverything Cybercafe, incluing saving streetheels pics of the day. 9.30 Taxi to Soho 10.00 Catch the show at Raymond's Revue Bar (very good with superb shoes) 11.30 Off home after quick browse in sepcialist fetish bookshop. It just goes to show how much shoe related activity you can pack into an evening if you try!

Robert Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 A great holiday it was. After planning to go to London I decided to take my ankleboots with me. I wanted to walk and I did. Not only in heels because I wanted to go also for a walk in my normal male shoes. And I walked a lot! Because the anouncement of the Heelmeet of october 4 came after I planned my holiday I got a private message of Xaphod that he could arrange a mini-heelmeeting (just the two of us). So we did and had lunch together and chatted a while. After lunch we went with the Tube to Oxford Street, Barratts and Aldo where we met an Italian saleslady, she was amazed about Xaphod's boots and I met her a few times in the days after that day. We went to the more expensive stores and Xaphod said "show your credit card but don't buy anything". Anyway, I couldn't because they had nothing in my size 9 or 10. We walked into a pub where we sat down for a drink. After a photograph we went on the road again to go to the King's Road where also are several stores. After we had seen that we went our ways and I got back to my hotel. A great day it was to meet someone from the forum from who you only see his text he typed. I had another week to go and I went on with my walks. Sometimes I was in central London and then I saw many many boots. I think as the weather is going to be colder the coming weeks, the more boots must be seen on the streets. Wish it was my next holiday yet. Robert Boots, fascinating footwear http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i103/Boots_1956/
Calv Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Just winding down back home after an enjoyable but tiring day. It was great to meet so many of the board members, lets see we had Firefox, Xaphod, Daz, Red Mountain, Ionic, Heelfan, Dr Shoe, Jo, Simon and myself. We certainly burst a few braincells of the London public who had probably never seen so many men in heels before. Highlights included the little west indian girl who wanted to know why we were wearing "womens" shoe in Oxford Street and the interest shown in several of the shoe shops. We visited Harrods to see the Ferragamo exhibition (if you can call 10 shoes in glass cases on the sales floor an exhibition....) Poor Daz had a trying day when he left his wallet in his car and then lost his return train ticket and got stung for a standard single. Luckily he found some good friends from this board who clubbed together to buy another ticket to get home with. Warning to drinkers in pubs in Camden who hang their coats on the back of their seats. DONT DO IT as I almost had my coat pocket picked by some lowlife. It was only when Xaphod spotted him that I realised what he was doing. He then went over to another part of the pub to try his luck before being seen off the premises by Xaphod. Luckily my wallet was inside the coat and he got nothing. Despite these setbacks a great day out. Do your own thing. Don't be a victim of conformity. Calv
Firefox Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Yes, I'd echo that. We had 10 people turn up which was pretty good. Any more and I think we would have needed to split up into two groups for the shopping. Names as above. "Lurker" was Simon by the way, who also came with us to Oxford so he's a veteran now! Everyone wore heels for the eating and shopping trips. Here's my mini awards list summary *Most changes of shoes during day: Jointly shared by Red Mountain and Heelfan. I counted about 4 different pairs. *Most striking outfit: Xaphod in brown leather 4 inch thigh boots, long leather coat and black cowboy hat. *Sharpest outfit: Dr Shoe in black leathers with 4 inch stiletto thigh boots. *Best organiser: Heelfan. We had a wide range of ages of people from 20 to 59 so these occasions are for everyone. It doesn't matter what your tastes are. If you've an interest in shoes, come along!
new_look Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 do i get an award for endurance with height :0
Firefox Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 Ok then: Best newcomer in heels: Daz, but you have to subtract the plat off whatever was your heel height Biggest idiot and most dedicated (and slowest walk): Me, for surviving the day in 4" boots after nearly breaking an ankle on a dimly lit, steep sloping, poorly maintained pavement the night before. If you came with us and want to nominate yourself or someone else for an award, then post here. I don't want anyone to feel left out!
new_look Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 some cheek theres hardly a platform on them, .25in if anything. also i added the rubber to the heel making it 4.75 inch. so i still have a 4.5in boot after all the adding and subtracting etc etc. i dont think i did so bad on the day to say it was probably my longest walk in heels by about 5 times over. full agreement on the awards given. Heelfan was a great suggestive host. I must also add that after speaking in detail about loads of stuff with nearly everyone, it must be said that i have never met such a group of friendly and interesting individuals in my life. It was truly a pleasant day. daz
Heelfan Posted October 7, 2003 Author Posted October 7, 2003 Yes, a great Heel-Meet all round, and as Daz says a very nice, interesting bunch of people - ten of us - a great turn-out! Young Daz is a very welcome new member to the group, and I think he did EXTREMELY well to wear his 4 1/2" heels all day, all over London, and this on only his third public street-heeling. Well done! There was quite a bit of interest in our heel-wearing, both from the publicand from shoe-shop assistants where were all great. In addition to the West Indian girl who engaged us in conversation in Oxford Street, a father and his small son came over in Harrods and asked us why were were all wearing high heels. I said we were all members of a special high-heel Internet forum that has approaching one thousand members. He was very impressed and wished us well. In Camden two girl customers in a shop also expressed an interest in our shoes, and asked to see most of them (including the three changes in my bag). When I pulled out my pointed-toe Barratts' black 4" stiletto courts, they said OOooh, aren't they sexy! I asked them what they thought of our group wearing high heels and they said "Well, if you all want to express yourselves that way, then we're all for it!" In fact, throughout the day, we got nothing but postive looks and positive comment. In the evening, we were grateful to Dr. Shoe and Ruth for inviting us all to spend an enjoyable evening at their flat in East London. Those of us that were able to go had a wonderful time (plus pizza and beer) and a great look at Dr. Shoe's most impressive shoe collection! Everyone - members, shop-girls and onlookers all seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day , and it's got me raring to go on the next Heel-Meet in Birmingham on Saturday 29th November. I hope I'll see a number of you there! Kindest Regards, Cheerfully yours, Heelfan. Onwards and upwards!
new_look Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 thx Heelfan, you didnt do so bad yourself. It was indeed a great day. just will have to see about time off work to make the future meets. work is funny about odd days without going away etc., but after the heights of enjoyment from london meet, i will try my hardest. My goal is to actually wear my stilettos this time, as i completely forgot about them. DOH me!
Heelfan Posted October 7, 2003 Author Posted October 7, 2003 That's the spirit Daz! Funnily enough, I was already planning to do Birmingham in stilettos too! Shortly I'll confer with Firefox and one or two others and post more detailed plans for Birmingham - time, place etc. Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
xaphod Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 .... hmmm my last post disappeared into the electronic maw, so here it is again parrotphrased. Most of it has been said ..... just one or two things to add. I wore the thigh boots to show that even being outrageous won't get you lynched. Maybe the combination of brown boots and black everything else is regarded as a fashion mistake, but it doesn't break the 'two colours only' rule. Certainly the look is less incongruous than having a pair of brown boots poking out from beneath a pair of black trousers. It was quite fun when the black girl asked us in Oxford St why we were wearing women's shoes, so I said that wonderful line, "they're not women's shoes, they're mine". I can't remember what she said after that, because I started laughing at her .... I think some others did too. It's nice to see those who take the piss get embarassed when they are laughed at. I'll use that ruse the next time I'm on my own and see what happens. I wonder what the pickpocket scumbag thought, having been given grief by a guy wearing girl's boots. BTW, I'm wearing the Bronx boots I bought from Silhouette on Euroheel, in Robert's picture. Xa
Laurieheels Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Xaph, I think the pick pocket is still confused, after his first run in with a super hero. The boots are just part of the heroic image, and you should feel good about serving justice and protecting the innocent. Honestly, I am impressed!
Dr. Shoe Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 ...In the evening, we were grateful to Dr. Shoe and Ruth for inviting us all to spend an enjoyable evening at their flat in East London. Those of us that were able to go had a wonderful time (plus pizza and beer) and a great look at Dr. Shoe's most impressive shoe collection! .... You realise that you only saw about 2/3 of it don't you? Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects.
Heelfan Posted October 7, 2003 Author Posted October 7, 2003 Yes Dr. Shoe - unfortunately I do! Sadly the pizzas, your Stella, Ruth's, the dog's the budgerigar's and everyone else's company were all so nice and so distracting that (unlike my usual self) my concentration was sadly not on your shoe collection throughout. But again, most impressive! And thank you both again! Till the next time! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
new_look Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 with the little black girl, i dont know WHY she would need to come and ask us why we were wearing womens shoes but Dr Shoe and Xa had me nearly bent double when they sorted her out. Classical moment for the diary. 'theyre not womens shoes theyre mens, men are wearing them'......then her face........ HO HO HO HO HA HA HA HA Sorry getting carried away, but it was hilarious. it is the line i will adapt for and future questions. DAZ
Firefox Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Don't be too hard on her. Intellectually challenged people do have difficulty recognising alternative ideas. The next time she will be cool with it
new_look Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 sorry fox. it was just funny the way her intent to cause embarrasment was turned on her. I meant no harm. PS meet in birmingham may look promising for another appearance from me we will have to see.
Bubba136 Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Judging by the way you're describing her -- being a "child" and all -- I would think she was just being curious rather than wanting to embarrass -- because men in high heels probably goes against everything she’s been taught about boys and girls all of her short life. Children have a natural curiosity about things that are different. You should see how some of them react to my son in his wheel chair. Usually, the parents are worse than the children. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Dr. Shoe Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Actually, her tone was more hostile than curious as if she were trying to belittle us (she was around 12 or so). The gentleman and his son in Harrods, by contrast, were asking from friendly curiosity. Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects.
Firefox Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 I thought the girl outside Dolcis was more like 18 or 20. Still, I didn't catch the full story as I was still busy trying on shoes in the store.
jo Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 The woman asking why Xa was wearing womens shoes was outside Dolcis, and was aged about 20 or more. It was much later, near the bus stop, that the small rude kids were encountered.
new_look Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Thats right Jo, but i missed the first woman so i dont even recall what was said. I agree with the good Dr, as the little black girl was a little sarcastic in her approach, backed by her giggling friends a few feet away. Why does Bubba always disagree with me on everything . Im sure he just looks for my posts to dig up . We seem to agree on nothing Daz
Ionic Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Many apologies for not checking into this thread earlier to say thanks and good to meet such a fun mob. We did rather overwhelm a few of the smaller shops which perhaps wasn't too helpful. As for the public's comments and so on, with my slightly dodgy hearing and not being close to the action I was blissfully unaware of these incidents. I was half aware of the Camden shop people, but I had spotted one of the first size 8s of the day and was off to one side trying them on. I think I need to defend my brown boots too after the earlier comments! I did try to find them in black but these were the ones in my size. Actually there is a lot of brown in weft of the weave of my black jeans and the thick rubber sole unit of the boot is black so overall I reckon they are fine. If they age with use (if I get out enough!) then they could be dyed black to revive them, the trouble is they are mostly suede which is tricky. Next time we need to start at the Marble Arch end of Oxford which is better for the larger sizes. /I /I
