Please only vote if you're a girl: How do you store your shoes? My OH converted my spare room into a shoe room using some shelving units from Ikea. Prior to this my shoes were absolutely everywhere - under my bed, in my wardrobe, at my sister and mum's places, on the floor, on top of my wardrobe and by the front door. Total chaos! How do you store your shoes, and tell us a bit about it.

Like Roz, a few years ago we have coverted a spare room into a large walk-in closet and dressing room for me. My husband built a series of shelves to store my heels and boots. He was amazed that I had accumulated 146 pairs but he made sure there was room for more. Yippee! Peggy

That sounds so cool, my shoe room was pretty easy to convert (I did the floor in laminate and we got shelves from Ikea) so I can store up to 200 shoes. I only have about 25 spaces left though so I'm not sure what I'm going to do next. My sister is getting quite a collection now too, especially over the last couple of years, unlike me her shoes are pretty much everywhere!!

I have a big walk in closet, and I just claimed one side of it with shelves for my shoes. The one thing I don't like tho, is that since its open, the ones I don't wear all that much get dusty. Jen

Yes, I do walk in these

I keep my shoes in my dressing room. Some I keep in the wardrobes but most are on shelves. Thew ones on the shelves are all still boxed. It's a good way to keep dust off them but they do take up an awful lot of space. I store them according to season and colour. I used to take polaroid pictures of them and stick those on the end of the boxes but I don't do that anymore since the camera broke. Some boxes have a picture of the shoe on the outside which makes finding them easier and you can write the colour on the box end too. My master plan is to buy some transparent plastic boxes for all of them. ha ha one day.

My dreams to have a walk-in wardrobe with special shelves dedicated to my shoes are far from being realised until I get around to buying somewhere with my partner. Next year!!!:lmao: At the present moment, I have shelving in my wardrobes dedicated to them. The wardrobe in our bedroom houses all the currently worn clothing and shoes and the expensive stuff which I like to have to hand just to coo at ;-) I have porn shoes lined up at the back with all shoes under £100 lined up in pairs. Anything over £100, gets stored in the box with dust covers on on the right. My handbags are either less than £100 and shoved in the top shelf or over £1,000 and kept religiously in their dustbags with the shoes. The other shoes get lined up in the bottom shelf of the spare room wardrobe. Allegedly I need a "cull" :w00t2:

Is my bedroom floor a viable option? I just kinda let 'em lie in the floor when I get ready to go to sleep. But if I take time to put them up I have a "Shoe Tree" in my closet. Nice little cubbies to put them in.

Lol, I often have a few strewn around on my bedroom floor.

One or two pairs on the floor are practical for slipping on to answer the phone or run to the loo.

My shoes are stored all over the place.. I have shoes in the closet.. shoes near my front door, shoes underneath my bed.. Everywhere.. When I move, I am requiring I get a separate room strictly for my shoes and wardrobe.. definitely..

That sounds just like me, a shoe room sounds such a stupid idea, but it is brilliant and has so many benefits such as being able to sort your shoes by heel height/colour/whatever you want, keeping all your shoes together, preventing them from getting damaged, and plus, it is easy to see at a glance what shoes you have. Anyone else with shoe rooms want to tell members about them?

I've got shelves for my favorites (there's only space for 15 pairs of shoes and 5 pairs of boots), otherwise they're sort of dotted around the house... I think I have three pairs under the sofa just now :w00t2:

I have a custom made cubbie whole system, it holds 60 pairs with room to go two deep so truly 120 pairs. It was custom made because I couldn't find one at Home Depot or Lowes which held higher than a 4.5 inch heel.* Most all of my shoes are over 5 inches.* It is truly a beautiful site.

I really like to be able to see my heels while putting my outfit together. Need at least a shoe bag with compartments. Overflow ends up in boxes on the shelves and floor. OMG! Too many heels! Never.

In a wardrobe with my clothes. I have a rack and a big shelf under my clothes, so there is a fair bit of space, but I could always do with more!!

Most of mine still haven't been designed yet. Quite a few are waiting for me in the shops, a small percentage live at my apartment and probably a third of my collection are at home.

There are shoes and boots all over the place at home. In the wardrobe, under the bed, in the spare room, in the hallway and in the car. I must sort them out this summer and cull the weaker members to keep the gene pool strong! Alexa

My boots are mainly in my closet and my shoes stored in boxes in a storage room. What I do want to get is clips to hang my boots up on rods so I can take advantage of the height of my closet and can have easy access. The thing is, I tend to rotate between three pairs of boots for going out so these are the three pairs I keep by the side of my bedroom door and the rest can go into storage. Alexa, do you also tend to wear a few pairs frequently and the rest sort of tend to stay in storage until a special occasion requires them?

Posted

Yes, I tend to have about five or six pairs that I wear regularly. Because I'm mostly wearing them against bare skin, I like to give them a chance to air out for a few days between wearings, so I tend to circulate them a bit. But I keep finding old friends in the back of the wardrobe or in the spare bedroom and getting them out and wearing them too. I wouldn't like any of them to feel neglected! Alexa

It would be great to have one of those round, rotating cabinets inside my closet. Each day you rotate the cabinet one notch and in there will be the fresh set of clothes for that day including the pair of heels, pantyhose and skirt for the day. That way, each pair gets their fair share of the action and as Alexa so eloquently put it, no pair gets neglected

Clear shoe box so you can see exactly what is inside? Great idea!!! I wish more brands had that. It is soooo useful for a quick selection when you are going to your closet instead of having to use a marker to label each shoe box in the closet.

Since I don't have a lot of heels only two pairs atm that I really adore I have them beside my bed. So I'm waking up seeing those lovely heels or to be exact one pair of stiletto heels and one pair of stiletto patent leather boots. Also, I have one pair of my boyfriends heels besides my bed so I can wake up happy every morning seeing them... call me crazy if you will
