  1. If you are meaning actual ballet shoes, like dancers wear, I LOVE those and have worn them since I was in college; mostly around the house, however. They are not great street shoes because they were never meant for that type of wear. I agree entirely that they are very cute and versitile. In fact ballet shoes introduced me to women's sizing because whenever I bought them, they were sized for women. For example I wore a 10 in a man's street shoe, but ballet shoes were a 12 - the same size I wore in women's shoes.

I wear both actual ballet shoes and street ballet shoes. Like you say, they're really cute lol

  2. Ok, I know this is a high heels forum and I love to wear mine, but I also love to wear ballet shoes too. I think they look really cool with skinny jeans or lycra leggings and I love to wear them too. Does anyone else like these and have you worn them out in public?

  3. Dune and Faith are two of my favourites. Aldo are good, as are Schuh and Shelley's, but I think the latter have been taken over. If you're not yet up to asking an assistant for a pair of stilettoes to try, New Look and some others like them have pairs of shoes of the rack so you can take and try them as you please. Oh I nearly forgot, charity shops are great for trying on heels

  4. I had a fun time in Denver, and picked up some nice flared-leg jeans from Lane Bryant, which go very well with my wedge boots. I also picked up a nice blue hair-clip barrette thing that has some stones in it from this place that hand-makes all their stuff, and then went and got some Sally Hansen platinum nail polish. I picked up some nice shoes at the Payless shops down there, although none would be considered "work attire". Tomorrow I'll be donning:

    -flare-leg jeans

    -white pullover (kinda turtleneckish)

    -wedge boots

    -platinum nails

    -nice hair clip

I think it's a style that works well together. We'll see what happens.

Would be nicee to see a pic of you in your outfit

  5. Hi all I'm always trying to think of places to go where it's safe to wear heels in London. So far I've got art galleries, museums, Oxford Street, Camden Town, Covent Garden and fetish clubs. Can anyone add to the list, especially naming their favorite fetish venues in London and the South East? This I think would be a help to us all. Thanks

  6. Last night me and the wife were out in London, and I chose to wear 4" high heel stiletto boots under a pair of fairly tight fitting jeans. We started the evening in Oxford Street for a lil bit of late shopping, moved onto a Starbucks for a couple of coffees, and finished in a bar to just be part of the scenery. We walked around quite a bit for the evening, got no hassle, no snide comments or anything. I did enjoy walking past a table of young ladies in the bar. Going past them one obviously noticed 'cos on the way back they all watched, mostly with nice smiles, not the piss-taking variety. Of course, I walked as slowly as I could once I realised I was being watched and gave it my full catwalk strutt :cool1: All in all, a very nice evening out ;)

  7. Thanks Loswabs - I might just try that you know!

Have you found any shops to be receptive of you trying heels on - I prefer Aldo and Faith (as they stock size 9's!)

    :cool1:

Every shop I've been in has been good with me trying on heels. I can't readily think of one that wasn't. Make it clear from the start the shoes are for you and the pressure you perceive quickly starts to subside... Somethng like "have you got these in a 9?" or "I want to try these in a 9" will do the trick. Even though you may feel like you're screaming at the top of your voice, "Look at me, I'm a bloke who loves wearing high heels!! Yes, over here, step right up to the freak show", you're not. You're just another customer. The assistant may be initially surprised, but I can pretty much guarantee you every shop in Oxford Street and Camden Town will have had a guy trying high heels on in the last week.

Faith have no problem, in fact I even e-mailed them a while back for their policy and they answered basically saying "no problem". Dune are great too. I just love their shoes!!! Faith in Oxford Street near the Circus have some really nice girls working there and on more than one occasion have offered me alternatives and seemed genuinely interested in getting me the shoes or boots which I'll enjoy owning and wearing. I wonder what their commission rate is?!!!

Go out, try them on, and enjoy ;)

  8. I believe I look better in female clothes when wearing heels than if I wore mens clothes. Recently I had a day out and from head to toe wore clothing meant for ladies. It was quite a thrill when I realised this. I got more than a few open-mouthed stares but if I'm honest that was part of the intention. I only wear jeans / trousers and feminine tops, never a skirt or dress as these don't really do it for me and I have no intention of shaving my legs. My feet get shaved for when I wear strappy sandals or courts but that's about it. I also wear skinny jeans without high heels and am more than happy with this look, even if it raises a few eyebrows. It's my body, it's my life, and I don't wanna be sat in a chair at 85 wishing I'd done something I wanted to. Life shouldn't be full of unfulfilled dreams...

  9. There are quite a few shops in Camden Market which sell Pleaser shoes. Out of the tube, walk up towards the market and they're mainly on the right. Don't be put off with being served by a man - they have no trouble guys trying heels. Have fun ;)

  10. I have not tired shoes on in the shop, I hav brought them in store but as per some other comments have gone along the 'They are a gift, if you does not like them can she bring them back' line.

I have been more confident rescently though when I phoned a shoe shop and asked if they had a particular style of shoes I wanted in a size 9, they said yes. I arranged for them to put them to one side for me and went to collect them. The female assistant was very kind and helpful, in fact I had decided (as the shop only had two other customers) if she asked me if I wanted to try them on (as I had made it very clear they were for me) I was going to say YES!

But guess what - she did not ask!

So you never know - I dont think I would seek the opportunity out, however if it was offered I would take it!

If she knew they were for you, I'd say she was expecting you to try them on and wouldn't have bettered an eye-lid. Why not got back and find some others to try on if the lady is there? It's a great feeling you know ;)

  11. Hi - I thought I would add a few pictures of me wearing my black leather thigh boots over skinny jeans:

    What do you think??

What do I think?? Bloody gorgeous!! I've got some knee high boots which I wear under tight jeans like yours. Very sexy look under or over them. Do you wear that outfit when you go out?

    Again, bloody gorgeous!!!

  12. Hi Newfie Where and when are you thinking of wearing your sandals? I have a few pairs but I'm not sure about wearing them out in town. I almost tried it once before but it never happened. I think high heel sandals are lovely but it really is pushing the envelope to wear them out. Good luck, and here's hoping I get the confidence to wear mine out too lol Thanks

  13. loswabs to the contrary new look 8 is a 41 the tight 8 which is actually a 7 1/2.

i have lots of new look shoes and where i normally fit a good 8/9 or 42 these are always too tight

recently however it seems new look have done the odd style in size 9?

    nl

    I'm not sure I understand what you're saying to me new_look ? ;)
